    So hey what's the reason for wanting to install Linux on it? Also does it still dual boot (Android/Linux)? Am a complete beginner to android gaming, just have some small experience with the older Linux based handhelds and VERY minor android emulation (like NES and SNES), and recently got both the Odin 2 AND RP4P (got them for cheap thus both it was), so this is new to me. Some emulators run better? Portmaster? Frontends? Any specific reason besides these possible ones?
    Edit: also what's that shell? I like the hexagons; reminds me of Dodonpachi.

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It can dual boot linux on an SD card, yes. Linux typically provides a more pre-setup frontend and emulator environment so it feels more 'console-like,' there's also some emulators like xemu for xbox on linux that aren't on android (though xbox performance is pretty poor), and portmaster as you mentioned. I think for many it's 'easier' and less fragmented than android.

    Hi is there any option in the frontend to enable bezels for each console thanks

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That option would be in the emulators rather than the frontend. If it’s a game you play via retroarch you can add bezels there.

    This is good but also my first handheld you go into the video assuming people have a basic knowledge of what an emulator/rom even is let alone bios and what type of basic settings are good or front ends or what. • @KaboWaboo

    Wait, so you put say es de on the sd card transfering config files to a new device easily. Does that mean when you install es de apk on the new device, mostly everything is set up already? So if you didn't install it on a new device and wanted to transfer your config file, cant you just transfer the data?

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you first set up ES-DE you choose a location for the data directory. If you put that directory on the SD card and later move that SD card to another Android device (or copy the directory to a new sd card), your settings will carry over.

    I just want to say, you folks who all reviewed this unit, y'all are doing a bad job. I bought one of these based on all the glowing reviews.
    1. Retroid removed the pre-order stuff from the site, but it was still pre-order and took almosr 2.5 months to get it.
    2. This things small as hell and awfully uncomfortable. It's very hard to hold for more than 30 minutes.
    3. Yeah it's powerful, but it's also very limited. I've loaded at least a dozen emulators and my entire library of roms. About 1 out of every 5 games won't run very well. And playing with the internal settings only minutely helps.
    All in all i give this thing a 6 of 10 and I'm pretty let down. I much prefer the Anbernic rg556. Sightly less powerful, but over all better feeling unit in the hand. The retroid just isn't what all of y'all keep saying.

      @bassderek  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. After having it some time I can say I agree that the comfort can be challenging.
      As far as how many games run well I haven't had that experience. Also some games just don't run well on any device because of emulator issues which has nothing to do with the device. Unfortunately emulation isn't a perfect thing so there is no perfect guarantee all games will run, especially on systems like ps2 and switch.

    • @vr6prodigy
      @vr6prodigy 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@25anomaly don't get me wrong. I do love that it performs well where it performs well. But it's just one of those things where I've watched dozens of videos and was truly torn between the retroid 5 and the anbernic rg556. My cousin got the 556. After having held both and seeing the very slight downgrade in cpu, I still would've prolly bought that if I'd really known. The problem is everyone holding it has smaller hands than me I think.

      @@bassderek so most of the games I'm having issues with are the games everyone's having issues with. My main concern was 3 roms, nfsu2, champions of norrath, and the .hack games. So far those play just fine. I ran into issues with more of the newer games that came out closer to the end of the PS2 run. Like atv4 and juiced 2. By the end it seems lots of game makers had figured out how to take everything they could from the PS2.
      I'm not mad, lol, and thank you sir for responding! I'm just disappointed cause I think we all got mystified by actual PS2 in the pocket.

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @vr6prodigy Out of curiousity I just checked out juiced 2 and seemed to get it playing pretty decently. Make sure your device is in high performance mode and select Vulkan as the "GPU Renderer" in the Graphics Settings Tab. Also try going to the system settings tab and setting "EE Cycle Rate" to 300% and "EE Cycle Skip" to mild underlock.
