For me personally, I watch these reaction videos to fill a void of friendship and community that I lost when I started working long hours. It feels like showing your friend new music. I also really enjoy hearing different points of view that help me enjoy the music I love from different angles.
+Mr. Scowl Face It's the music from his soul that shines through. I too lost my wife and kids. At the time, he made my tears and heart ache make sense. The legend will never die as long as I have air to breath and a heart beat
Mr. Scowl Face so sorry to hear that man! Whatever you do please please stay in your kids life. They get their validation from you and you only. Not mom but YOU. And that's a proven fact. Don't stop pursuing what makes you happy. God bless friend.
Bland James he said that beautifully these reaction videos they make me smile they make me laugh and it's so nice to see someone of a younger age hearing this stuff like they didn't even know the stuff existed I can't even believe that but just knowing that their minds have got open to A Whole New World not stuff they have going today. Anyways it is like showing a friend something you love and you want them to love two.
In the 70 years I've been alive, I have seen many great guitarists, but nobody touches Stevie Ray Vaughan! He becomes a part of his guitar, as if he's playing it with his whole self.
RU kidding? Who could possibly do something like this again? I dont think there will ever be another Stevie Ray. The mold was shattered when he started shredding. Passion from the heart and soul just poured, bled and sweat thru him like nothing I've ever seen before or since. i believe he was born for this purpose and could not have been anything else. I discovered music when I discovered SRV, because before him, my ears never brought my heart such joy thru music. Even after more than 30 years, that loss still has me weeping, especially during something this beautiful. No words needed when his guitar speaks, cries or screams, because I think that's what Stevie was doing inside. It was his him coming thru. Did it begin early in his life that his playing said what he could not ? That must be what "artist" means. Stevie Ray was a natural. We who love him, do so not just for the musical legacy he left behind, but for the person we discovered him to be because of those who told us thru testimonial. RIP and in music, Stevie. 💙 ☮️to all.
Everybody has that one moment that they will remember forever. Mine was the day that I met SRV. He was just beginning his rise in 1989. My dad took me to the Denton Jazz Festival in Denton, Texas. He told me "son, this is the greatest guitarist ever, pay attention". Little did I know that my ole' man knew SRV personally. I just wished I was old enough to truly know how important that moment was for me.
Eh, the realization just had a time release! One of my favorite lines from a movie is from The Three Amigos, El Guapo says “Jefe, you cannot force open the petals of a flower... when the flower is ready, it will open itself up to you”.
SRV was well known before 1989.He played guitar on David Bowie's Lets Dance album in like 82.After that he was everywhere. I saw him in 88 with Robert Plant. All through the 80s he was the best Guitarist on the scene.
As an "old" guy I get a smile deep inside when I see young people react to stuff like this for the first time. There is so much good stuff out there and good for you for looking for it!
This was Stevie Ray Vaughn's tribute to Jimi Hendrix as "Little Wing" was originally Jimi's song which wasn't an instrumental but had some great lyrics to it. You might want to visit the original to get a frame of reference. Kudos on the reaction.
It's a good version, but a little overplayed. Jimmy's original has a nicer sweet emotion to it that is more endearing. It would of helped if Stevie chimed in with vocals to break it up a little.
SRV could do things on the guitar that were not even thought possible. He was an incredibly gifted human being. His talents transended the Heavens. A sweet, kind soul. And is forever lovingly missed.
Renaissance man, it makes my heart so happy to see you get so much joy from SRV! He introduced me to the blues in the 80's , I was a straight up metal head until I heard the the magic that was SRV, I was instantly converted. Please continue to do what your doing, SRV catalog of great music you could do 100 reacts to just him. Peace.
I feel the same way... seeing renaissance man smile like that!!! I feel like my heart is gonna explode with happiness!!!! Everyone looked at me weird when i listened to him in the late 80's until now !!!! His music i cant even explain what it does.... i cant name any other artist that makes feel like SRV does!!! Oh and i was a metal girl!!! Thanks to SRV opened my eyes so much more!!!!!
I was in a little bar in Kansas City, I think it was the Lonestar, in '89-'90 watching Lonnie Brooks play. I was at the bar right by where Lonnie would get his between set refreshments and we got to talking about how the blues scene was changing and about life in general. It was late and I had class the next morning and I was about to leave after Lonnie played his 2nd to last set and I thanked him for his show, but he stopped me from leaving and told me to hold on for a surprise.. About 10 min. later SRV walked into the club and they played the last set together. It was absolutely amazing. I doubt there were 75 people in the bar that night, but we sure got a treat. RIP Lonnie and SRV.
Man! I just love your reaction to SRV. This is the universal human reaction to this man, especially if you play a little. Your reaction mirrors my own when I heard him back in '83. You must make the face!!
when music can give goosebumps and watery eyes...thats powerful and deep!! This is the kind of sound that goes straight to your heart and bones fuckin love SRV and Jimmy!!!
SRV.. my all time favorite artist.. I have had the blessed pleasure, to have seen him live more times than I can count.. Truly a master at his art.. when he can make someone feel every single note..... in your soul. R.I.P Stevie..and Thank you ..

Is there any one out there doing stuff like SRV? The short answer is no. There are many great guitarists today, but there will only be one SRV. Stevie was truly a gift from the Heavens. Thank you for sharing your commentary on his videos, and I'm stoked that you have "found" his music. Blessings, my friend!
The closest I can think of is Joe Bonamassa but he's nowhere near Stevie's level in my opinion but still the closest I can think of...maybe Eric Gales too but he doesn't have the exposure of Joe.
@@onelove101unity I understand where you're coming from, but I respectfully disagree. Joe, and many others, are uber-talented, but they don't have the raw, unadulterated soul and emotion that Stevie had. Stevie was a gift from the Heavens, and is peerless from the standpoint of playing from his soul. You can really hear it in his live performances, but Stevie would yell when he ripped into a solo or a hard-core lick. One song in particular that exemplifies this, is The Sky Is Crying from the October 1984 Carnagie Hall concert. Stevie's raw emotion can be heard when he yells while playing. It was simply a vocal release of all the emotion built up inside of him. Thanks for your reaponse/input! Blessings!
SRV El Mocambo is THE best live music performance ever caught on video, period. Stevie slams the gas pedal to the floor from the jump and unloads his brand with surgeon like precision. Incredible considering how out of his mind on alcohol and cocaine he was at this point in his life, before it got even more crazy and he had to get help. So glad we got those sober years at the end, he dedicated so much of it to helping others not make the same mistakes he did.
I grew up with Jimi Hendrix and all the great music of the 60's, 70s and 80s. I'm amazed more people don't appreciate the talent and sound that Hendrix produced and SRV carried on in his own way. Watching this dude "feel" the soul of what STV is putting down is both and hoot and probably a mirror of what the rest of us look like. Rock on Modern Renaissance Man!!
I love seeing your smiles and your eyes pop out when you hear something you like... we're blessed to have had SRV for such a short time, and now it seems to be Stapleton's time to shine.. I'm glad you found these artists!
Great reaction/review of one of the greatest artists that ever lived. SRV is and will always be one of the greatest musicians of his era. I wish he were still alive but his music definately still lives on. Can't believe it was 28 years ago that he passed. Rip SRV
My wife’s uncle followed him to many shows and was at the last show he ever played. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to see him live in concert. There are many good or even great guitarists but Stevie Ray Vaughn is among a very small elite group of guitar legends. To put his name next to Jimi Hendrix is saying a lot. Both are legends and will never be topped.
Wow. Never saw this before..... Great SRV, glad young folks like it. From a 62-year-old amateur drummer. Retired log truck driver. My love has always been music!
Stevie was a gift to us from the heavens. Music brings us together. It certainly did when we were very young, from the 50 s up to the late 70 s. We were exposed to all kinds of music as little children, and on up. We are a blessed generation. We are in our mid to late 60 s. Wife is the younger, and we love this music.
....And then all the SRV fans swarmed this awesome TH-cam channel to give this great man the opportunity to join them. Stevie Ray will live forever as long as people still listen. I am from a band called Texas Alley: A tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Keep it up MRM.
Back then, it was all about the music and the fans. Not so much the money, like it is today! To me, this is when music was truly music! Huge 70/80's music fan here! Another great reaction video.
HUGE Stevie Ray Vaughn fan. So glad you’ve discovered him! He was a musical genius, not just his ability and talent but because he had real soul. And that, you cannot train into people. It’s either in there, or it’s not. I’d love to see you react to more SRV, like Texas Floods. I have a great suggestion for someone to check out. Eric Gales. He is AMAZING! A blues, rock guitarist, he sings, plays and FEELS the blues with so much soul. He’s got a ton of videos on TH-cam but I’m going to put one below that is not his best but my personal favorite. He’s playing a set at a blues festival and spots a legendary blues singer in his audience, Beth Hart, and calls her up on stage to sing with him. They just kind of improv the whole thing and it just shows how amazing they are at their crafts and shows how much joy it brings them to play and sing the music. I like your channel! Keep it up! I’ll have plenty more suggestions for music for you to check out! LOL! Eric Gales & Beth Hart - Catfish Blues (07.02.2017, Norwegian Jade) th-cam.com/video/q9Ms1_GGkvs/w-d-xo.html
You MUST react to Riviera Paradise. It’s one of Stevie Ray’s instrumentals. I watched him played that song sitting on the edge of the stage, about 10 feet away from me. It was seriously one of the most beautiful experiences ever! I saw him play live seven times and was never disappointed.
I don't know what it will take or where i will go but when i die all i wanna do is listen to the masters play with SRV . My friend said SRV was taken from us so early so god could hear him live with hendrix. LOL I would have too
You have got to watch his song called "Lenny", and specifically his El Mocambo version. He wrote the song for his then wife who had a few friends pitch in $50 a piece to buy him the guitar he is playing on in that song. Its one of my favorite live performance of any other song I've heard
My favorite song of all time, probably seen this live version somewhere between 600-800 times, im still as amazed as i was the first time, Great reaction keep up the good work!
What you really need to watch, is the recorded session with Stevie and Albert King. Stevie was a student of the blues, and Albert King was one of his Idols. You can see the pure joy on Stevie’s face as he gets to play with Mr. King, and their mutual respect for each other.
A true Master of his craft! Such technical ability but yet played with so much soul! To see a different side of his playing check out Riviera Paradise!
SRV always played as if he was playing from his soul and felt every note pour out of him into the guitar. Fantastic video and thanks for the video. +1 sub!
Watching all these reaction videos.......Realize this This guy didn't just play....HE CHANNELED!!! He channeled raw emotion through his guitar! You could literally hear him make it wail!!
Boy my pops got me into SRV and that was my 1st loveof music. I found it odd i like srv hip hop and punk rock by finding music myself but im glad u founs Stevie.. Truely one of the best to rock the guitar my boy.
Never be another stevie ray in our lifetime. Great one’s never stay long. Were just givin a taste of greatness for a short time but there essence lives on in our souls forever!
SRV had a mastery and control of his instrument that made it an extension of himself like none I'd seen or heard in my long life in music. He never played anything exactly the same twice but improvised on a basic tune, chord progressio and theme. It was almost like his mind thought and the guitar played the thoughts. A true genius and metaphysical master of his instrument like none other. Glad you discovered SRV. Other greats were and are in awe of SRV, may he rest in peace.
At about the 1:28 mark you break into a grin of pure pleasure. That's EXACTLY how I feel when I hear Stevie play. After all these years he still hits me right in the soul with his playing. Thank you for posting this.
This was the most complicated version he ever played of Little Wing by far....this was a tour de force and a legendary performance. Hard to believe he would only get better right up until we lost him. Hendrix, SRV & Rory Gallagher are my favorite 3 guitarists, they are all together now. RIP
Yeah. I learned about SRV shortly after I started playing guitar when I was 14. He blew my mind. Him and Jimi Hendrix are still my top guys. I learned to play by imitating them but I'm nowhere near their level. Guys like that are just so talented, it's like God knew that the world could only handle a little bit of them, and they were tragically taken away from us. But they will be influencing guitar players til the end of time. Oh and yeah, there are guys out there doing this today. There's a whole army of SRV disciples playing today. Like Joe Bonamassa or Kenny Wayne Shepherd to name a couple.
Man, I so wish Jimi and Stevie could have played these songs together at some point, would have been magical. But you summed it up why I'm enjoying your channel perfectly, "getting joy out of someone else getting joy" A beautiful thing xD Love your reactions, keep having fun
Music like this does exist today but it's just hard to find. Obviously not at the level of SRV or legends before him...but still respectable and enjoyable. Gary Clark Jr for example....th-cam.com/video/YCYoWYwPBbE/w-d-xo.html
SRV's versions of this song always brings tears to my eyes from the first note. Jimi's versions are wonderful, but Stevie just wrings the emotions out of you. So happy that young people are still lovin' him. RIP in guitar heaven, Stevie!
Saw him live in 88. I actually went to see the opening act originally but stayed to watch him. All I can say I was mesmerized and ignored the date I brought with me. I was like the people you see in the audience. Dumbstruck by this man's talent.
So Stevie Ray Vaughn has a brother Jimmie Vaughn who is/was in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. back in the late 80's early 90's this little kid would come to their shows in Austin and would want to play guitar with them. Jimmie took him under his wing. that kid is Gary Clark Jr. check him out, the dude rocks.
Great show. SRV was so different than everyone that was on MTV. Most were hyper crazy costumes and Hair all in the right place but he looked like he just got back from wild party and picked up a guitar off the road on the way to blowing everyone's mind back then. Including me. I thought of it as the second coming of Jimi Hendrix. They played all his records that day he died only on the Rock Radio channel in Birmingham Alabama. The announcer was a Female true Rocker and she held back her tears the whole day.
love watching you reviews as musician you really appreciate the skill. Stevie is the best guitarist ever of his genre and he couldn’t read music . tnx Ty god bless 💕
I haven't seen your channel in a while. Good to see you and I loved your reaction to this, perhaps my favorite piece that SRV ever did - and that's saying something. I also loved what you said at that school board meeting some time back. Keep up the good fight!
I can relate to that feeling. Watch around 1:40. As a musician, I can say that occasionally you see something in person so impressive, you cant help but either laugh or cry. Its just pure emotion
Awesome, man! I subscribed to you because you are genuinely open and appreciative of his badassery. If more were as receptive, as you said this world would be a better place. All the best you, my brother!
I love your love for SRV. He was quite amazing. He had a love affair with that guitar. . I love the dude. His death was a huge loss, same said of Jimi Hendrix, they had a lot in common on there talent, and how they gave it to us.
I've enjoyed watching videos when he was young with his mentor the great Albert King. Also with his brother Jimmie both playing the same double guitar together at the same time. Why does it seem a lot of the greats are taken way too soon.
Listen to Stevies message. All stars who get to bright fall out the sky... On life without you he finds his spiritual moment and went with it and gave love
To fully appreciate SRV, you can't just listen to his music. You need to WATCH him play. He poured every ounce of himself into every note he played & every vocal. And it showed on his face. So I'm glad you're doing what you're doing & glad you enjoy Stevie. Subbed.
There’s a live version of life without you from November 29, 1989 in Denver, Colorado on a deluxe cd edition of in step I bought in Newcastle in the north east of England and I can’t find it anywhere online (turns out it was previously unissued until this cd came out) and the speech Stevie gives in the middle coupled with the whole composition as a whole changed my life. My favourite piece of music period, the man was untouchable!
@@drummySam I so AGREE!!! I have heard the guitar played as well, but NEVER better than in that version...His message after he got sober was beyond moving...His playing got better!!!
I always picture him and Jimi jamming together in the afterlife. I still remember where I was when I heard about his passing on the radio, and I was only 8 or 9 yrs old. It was so tragic.

....And then all the SRV fans swarmed this awesome TH-cam channel to give this great man the opportunity to join them. Stevie Ray will live forever as long as people still listen. I am from a band called Texas Alley: A tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Keep it up MRM.
do "Life Without You" by him next \m/
LOL!

I've done Texas flood. If you haven't subscribed please do and feel free to share w/ friends family, etc. Thx for your input and suggestions.
I remember how it felt to hear Stevie for the first time, and it's nice to watch other people do the same. Keep up the good work.
I’ve loved SRV since the ‘80’s. Loving your reactions and your vibes! Check out Riviera Paradise by him. You won’t regret it. Keep em comin my brotha!
Todd Minter AND Lenny! 😎✌️💕
Todd Minter such a good song
Stevie is just 'Incredible'. I'm so happy you are experiencing Stevie for the first time. God Bless ya mate...
This is the kind of music that speaks to your soul and gives you goosebumps every time you hear it.
The man was a wizard on guitar.
An absolute thing of beauty and my most favourite SRV tune ... sublime !
*Peter Green Picked the Lock..... Jimi Hendrix Kicked The Door In.... Stevie Ray Vaughan Kicked The Damn Door Off The Hinges!*
Well said.
brother, the man was awesome live... the crowd stood in amazement of his talent
It's apparent this guy has become a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn, how could you not? His guitar playing reaches the deepest parts of your soul
I love watch your reaction. These rock’n rollers knew how to make their instruments sing. True musicians. Thank you for this!
Ty. I saw Stevie Ray at Starwood ampitheater in Nashville in 1987. I had center stage 3rd row seats. He was amazing
Jimi and him are playing together right now.
aye, perhaps Lemmy on electric bass guitar :D
The queen of soul just joined the band too. God bless her.
I Hear They Got A Hell Of A Band
Can you imagine Jimi and SRV at their best, " cutting heads"?
I don't know what it will take or where i will go but when i die all i wanna do is listen to the masters play with SRV . My friend said SRV was taken from us so early so god could hear him live with hendrix. LOL I would have too
I got to see them live twice. Unbelievable. Thanks for this.
You have got to watch his song called "Lenny", and specifically his El Mocambo version. He wrote the song for his then wife who had a few friends pitch in $50 a piece to buy him the guitar he is playing on in that song. Its one of my favorite live performance of any other song I've heard
...sweat dripping, cigarette burning, guitar masterpiece.
Its a spiritual experience every time i watch it
SRV's then wife Lenny gave him the guitar he named Lenny and that night wrote the song "Lenny" on Lenny for Lenny. ;)
Stevie left it all on the stage ! This Jimmi tune was a perfect way for SRV to express his talent !!
To see a different side of his playing check out Riviera Paradise!
saw both Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray, and they were both able to
Hypnotize, and Electrify their audiences like few Musicians can!!!!!!!!!
He is an incredible guitar player............ I also enjoyed your "little bit of wisdom". :-)
No one will ever play like Stevie Ray....he was truly a one of a kind....often imitated never will be duplicated.
SRV always played as if he was playing from his soul and felt every note pour out of him into the guitar. Fantastic video and thanks for the video. +1 sub!
i like watching them because it makes me feel like people can have an open mind and if we have an open mind we can get along with each other
The kind of performance that gives you goose bumps. 👌🎶🎶🎸
Watching all these reaction videos.......Realize this
This guy didn't just play....HE CHANNELED!!!
RIP
I love that you can listen to the studio edition and then go watch him live and it be two totally different things you listen to.
Joe Blankenship well said...I agree 100%. I think SRV has a bit of an edge on Jimi. The student became the master!!!
Man, I so wish Jimi and Stevie could have played these songs together at some point, would have been magical.
But you summed it up why I'm enjoying your channel perfectly, "getting joy out of someone else getting joy" A beautiful thing xD Love your reactions, keep having fun
Music like this doesn't exist today. Tell me someone who comes close to this level of talent today and I will listen.
Music like this does exist today but it's just hard to find. Obviously not at the level of SRV or legends before him...but still respectable and enjoyable. Gary Clark Jr for example....th-cam.com/video/YCYoWYwPBbE/w-d-xo.html
Buckethead
Gary Clark Jr. is one of the most talented guitarists alive at the moment. You should check out Los Lonely Boys, especially the song, Onda.
this was always my favorite jimi hendrix song and i love just about every cover i ever heard of it, especially this one.
As a Stevie ray fan I love the joy on your face getting off on the boys work. Happiness is overrated when joy takes over.
You can instantly feel love. And a connection ❤
What a tribute to play someone else's song and make it almost sound as good as the original! What a guitar player he was! R.I.P., we miss you greatly!
R.I.P. Stevie!!!!! Your music lives on!!!
greatest modern blues guitarist .... simply awesome
Awesome, man! I subscribed to you because you are genuinely open and appreciative of his badassery. If more were as receptive, as you said this world would be a better place. All the best you, my brother!
You are too adorable. I wish you and yours the best that life can give. GOD BLESS YOU. Keep on rockin.
The real deal is "Tin Pan Alley" by SRV and Johnny Coppeland, check that out.
I have that dvd
I love your love for SRV. He was quite amazing. He had a love affair with that guitar. . I love the dude. His death was a huge loss, same said of Jimi Hendrix, they had a lot in common on there talent, and how they gave it to us.
Phenomenal! His playing is amazing!
Love love love your réactions! 💓
Your bringing and sharing the love, thank you!
To fully appreciate SRV, you can't just listen to his music. You need to WATCH him play. He poured every ounce of himself into every note he played & every vocal. And it showed on his face. So I'm glad you're doing what you're doing & glad you enjoy Stevie. Subbed.
Little Wing - my all time favourite.
Another good SRV tune to check out is "Life Without You."
A live version, of course! The guitar work at the end isn't on the studio version.
you are officially my favorite comment ever.
My favorite SRV song
You can tell he feels that music in his soul
