    All these years of experience and this man just freely gives all these tips and tricks. Love the community you built Scotty. I personally never take my car to mechanics because I'd rather do it myself and make sure it gets done right and I don't get ripped off. You're the only mechanic that I'd trust to work on my car though that's for sure! I hope when I'm your age one day that I will have the knowledge and energy to teach others like you do. I look forward to the 2-3 videos of great content I get a day from ya. Hope life is and stays well for you for a long time :)

      I think mechanics I've met by word of mouth are generally honest, but sometimes they drop the ball (or the parts!). Now I just do everything myself except state inspections.
      What Scotty does is outstanding, esp. this video. My engine is a year newer so that'll be the next time bomb to go on that K engine.

    My 04 had that engine. Super dependable. It took a lot to kill it. It died of extreme abuse, with 346k on it. Thanks for the video!

    2003-2007 were actually one of the most reliable Scotty. I have an 06 with 340k miles on it and still running like a charm.

      I think reliability wise one of Honda’s best engines if taken care of. i’ve owned many Honda’s since 1994 and the 2 K24 equipped I have been the cheapest and most reliable engines for me. over 200k on my Accord and 193k miles on my Crv. Seen plenty with 350,000-400,000 miles.

    I had a 2004 Accord 4-cyl. With 250,000 miles. Only thing it ever needed was a alternator at 215k and a power steering pump at 230k miles. That car ran like a champ.

    Love these repair vids! Never had that issue on any of my K20s, wonder if the K24s are more prone to it. As for that leaf trick, I prefer a bit of masking tape, tends not to fall off if you're working on more sensitive parts like a valve train.

      @Bruce Cumming The old school way to do this was to coat the bottom of the car with used motor oil. Does the same thing and is free minus the time invested.

      @Bruce Cumming Thanks for the information. The nearest Rust Check is across the river in Sarnia. All though it to late for my 1992 rust bucket. But I sure will make the short trip across the border / river to get the treatment and the guarantee for the next new one.

      I just religiously wash the undercarriage of my car and hope I'll move somewhere with good weather before the things starts falling apart. So far the only major rust spots are under the hood and on the roof for some reason.

    That model of accord was my very first car, that thing took a HELL of a beating and still kept going. By the time I eventually sold it It was falling apart externally but internally it was solid.

      My 2010 LX-P 4 Cylinder 2.4 Liter has 230K miles and so far no issues. Changed the spark plugs at 100K and the starter at 150K. Aside from that just basic maintenance. Has all the original hoses, belts, chains, pumps etc.

      I had an 05 tsx. Best damn car I've owned with 0 issues except for an alternator. I sold it at 167k miles and live in a small town. I regret selling it every time I see it drive around:(

    Scotty made a video, then released it on the same day I was taking my 2006 Honda Accord(same color even!) around to places to figure out where my oil leak was coming from and get it fixed. Probably as close as I’ll ever get to having Scotty work on it himself. Thanks, Scotty!

      @@zo1dberg sometimes you don't have a magnetic socket but sticking a small magnet to it might work to. I have various magnetic tools but sometimes just good old paper works if you are in a bind 😁

    I just had to replace my 2009 Accord's VTC valve. It threw a code and my car acted very strange. I had it towed back to my house and I fixed it. I wish I would of seen this video before! Thank you Scotty!

    I am a Honda Certified tech and yeah we see these on Accords and CRVs. We don’t have leaves in our shop but a good ol’ magnetic 1/4” mid length socket works just fine. Make sure to always check the timing chain tensioner cover as well.

      My ‘05 Accord has 310,000 miles - never have had any leaks whatsoever. You’re right, you can’t kill these cars. Ultra reliable and good for your bank account!

      Do you have any problems with the brake rotors warping frequently? I recall this being a problem since it was new at about 25,000 miles. Recently I changed the rotors and pads - 10,000 miles later the jumping when I brake is ridiculous. It’s really the only annoying problem I have with the car.

      I have a 2006 4cyl. Bought it new. 330,000+ miles. Love this old car. You can’t kill it. Only major repair to date is A/C compressor, cooler and blower.

      Just hit 200k on my 2004 V6 6-speed manual coupe. The 7th gen Accords are extremely well-built. I might never get rid of this one. It has only needed engine mounts, and I think that was my fault.

      I had an 03. It burned oil. Replaced the engine. That particular year (first year of the 7th gen) is notorious for this problem.

    I have a money pit older bmw. This would've been super helpful a month ago when I changed my oil filter housing gasket, but I'm sure I'll be able to use this info in the future... Because old money pit bmw.

    Scotty, I have been thinking my 2004 Accord was burning oil but I watched your video before doing an oil change. I looked at the VVT solenoid and it definitely has been leaking for a while.
    223,000 miles and still runs like new!
    Btw, a good video for you to do is a starter replacement on this generation I4 Accord motor. It's rather involved.

      @@blackterminal It's not all that difficult but it does require removing the intake runners and most everything that covers up access to the wiring and starter attachment bolts. I no longer have my car to refresh my memory for more details.
