    While it wasn’t my first car I’d highly recommend it, I’ve got a ‘12 Coupe LX-S k24-5mt. This is my 4th and second manual. I absolutely love it. It’s got just enough creature comforts and decent enough ride quality/cabin sound seasoning to remind you it’s not a civic. I’ve done basic street mods minus a tuner. It’s not as buildable as other hondas due to its head being restricted. It has good base power for what it is, I have no problem passing people without redlining my car at 60+. It handles surprisingly well in 4+ inches of snow so long as you’ve got all seasons or better, despite being a coupe, it’s only 4 inches shorter and still weighs anout ~200 lbs less at 3220 lbs.Anyone looking that’s on the line for a basic/fun commuter or daily should Jump at the chance, not only are the 6 and 4 cylinder both reliable as all hell, they both hold resale value with less than 100k. I got mine mid august of 2022 with 73k on it for 11,500. I see them on car gurus specd like mine with almost 150k miles for 6-8k. I’ve done my oil at 4k and replaced my axles as the boots were torn up a bit. Other than that it’s a dream for anyone that doesn’t mind FWD.

    have a 2012 exl 2.4l with 190k miles. It doesn't burn any oil between changes and has not needed anything other then maintenance. We have done the oil changes based on the oil life indicator, did 3 transmission drain and fills, replaced brakes about 3 or 4 times, it has had about 4 sets of tires, spark plugs twice, air filters etc. It runs just like the day I bought it with 32k used in 2016. The quality of materials was amazing and felt very high end for a Honda. I later traded it in for a 2014 Honda civic coupe which I did for gas savings but I regretted as I missed my accord so much. This is my first car, got it in June of 2022 at 193k miles with some problems. Engine light kept coming on and off and my dad suspected that one of the pistons don’t work, and it burns engine oil. I just learned that the backseats can be put down! And I finally got an explanation for the rattle noise it makes whenever I start it. I’ll be looking into how to change that myself. Thank you for the video!!

    • @mohamad-q8s
      @mohamad-q8s 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your piston did not work you would be having serious engine issues lol. I think he meant your piston rings aren’t sealing as good as they should so it’s burning some oil. Unless he meant it was misfiring? Maybe that’s why your check engine light would come and go? The usual fix for that is sparks plugs and coils.

    I don't think I'll be getting rid of our '11 Accord coupe I4 5AT anytime soon. Has almost 100k miles and bought new. Prices of new cars have gone through the roof and they're not necessarily more reliable than the 8th gen Accord. For anyone on the lookout, best to look for 11/12 models.
    What I like: reliable and powerful enough engine, good handling/driving dynamics, double wishbone front suspension vs MacPherson on the 9th gen and onward, 5AT instead of CVT on the 9th gen and onward, Electronic Stability Control, coupe looks awesome, the 2011/12 tail lights not as nice though, has been a very reliable car.
    Issues: repaired under warranty/extended warranty -- front passenger backrest beam replaced, VTC actuator replaced (some minor grind occasionally), noisy blower motor fan replaced (still noisy)
    A/C clutch gave and aftermarket installed.
    What I don't like: power steering motor whine, which wasn't fixed by replacing the two o-rings and seems to be related to hose diameter. I'm not going to bother. Might just break more things like the bolt haha.
    Fuel economy is decent but of course compared to newer vehicles, isn't as great, especially in city driving.

    This was my first car, still my favourite all these years later. She was my learner's car and was a great starter! Drove her for 2 years and ran great, the only downside was the long hood (especially while turning on a intersection with plants/obstacles so I had to move more forward than I felt was safe to see oncoming traffic) and blind spots due to the design. Also had a recall on the passenger airbag randomly going off so something to keep in mind. But looks sporty, has heated seats, and is a good-looking. So I do have a 2009 Accord EX-L V6 Coupe - automatic. At 130k miles now and never really had any issues throughout the years with it. Except for a bit of rust now on the rear wheel arches - which is a known issue with these. Also it has spent it's entire life outside. That's it. Otherwise never any real mechanical issues.
    What I especially love about it is that being an automatic - I do get at least 550 ~ 560 ish miles on 17.5 gallons in the tank on the open highway. Before the low fuel light comes on. Each and every time and still have a gallon left to go. Since I do see on each fuel receipt that 17.5 gallons went in on the next full fill up. These do have an 18.5 gallon size fuel tank with the V6 coupe. So it averages out to around 31.5 Mpg.
    On Friday I took it to the mechanic for an oil change and an inspection. After 7,500 miles - Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic High Mileage 5W-20. All original suspension parts and was told that everything is as good as new. No free play or looseness anywhere. Despite me having gone over many major pot holes over the years. Especially when I blew out both of my right side tires earlier this year in February. By accidentally going over a MAJOR pot hole on a dark road with no streetlights at night. I thought that was surely it with that one and that I also had caused major suspension damage but nah.. Then again these V6 Coupes came with 18 inch rims stock. So not sure if that helps to soak up the pot holes?
    Owned mine since 2011 so coming up here on 13 years almost. This is my daily driver and longest time that I had ever owned a daily. Oh yeah - and I was also rear ended 3 times in the almost 13 years since I owned it! LOL! Like what the hell!?!? Never any frame damage thankfully!! But seriously - these things are built like a tank!! I fixed it each time back to factory new.
    My friend who drives a lot for his job has the same model Accord EX-L V6 Coupe. Except his is a 2008 and a manual and was at 432k miles just last week. Also he never had any issues throughout the years with his. Never had it ever broken down on him. Except his has far more rust than mine. Also he doesn't take care of his as much as I do, and even then his has zero fluid leaks anywhere. All original seals everywhere too! Just like mine. Then again his is all highway miles too from brand new. So not sure if that all makes a difference.
    I love mine to death but if something ever did happen far worse to it or if it dies for good - Think I would be interested in a used Passport Trailsport as a next possible vehicle.

      31MPG? In your V6 8th gen coupe? Wow, must be nice. Cause I got same car, I get 14MPG. I drive somewhat aggressively but not crazy and if I drive SUPER economical, the most I've been able to squeeze out is 17.5MPG. This is coming from the factory navi system in the dash. I mainly do in-town driving and I disabled the VCM... so that changes things slightly, but still, you're getting double the MPG that I am.

    Maybe you should to a take on the 2017 Honda Accord V6 manual. That is what I have, a 2 door beautiful 2017 honda accord. Two issues: One is the apple car play, it fails way too often and I live in Germany, and my US Ho=nda Accord came with break discs for low speeds. I had to change the disks and install drilles and slotted disks and that made breaking much better at high speeds. Other than that I love my car. Great video, thanks!

      Unfortunately, my daughter got one, 2009 with 127,000 miles. after 30 days, it failed while she was on the highway. Thankfully she was near an exit and was able to pull off safely. Had to pay almost $5,000 for pistons and gasket repairs after paying $12,000 for the car! A year later, the car was totaled while it was parked....we thought it was doing good. Oh well. Life! But for how I use this vehicle for work commute I can’t complain.
