I have never seen Sam's act before, but I have heard him on serveral podcasts as a guest. I don't recall having any strong opinions on him in either direction; however, I thought he was pretty annoying in this clip.

As a comedy club patron in the early- to mid-2000's, I only saw who Carlos was on stage. I didn't know what was happening behind the scenes. Every time--and I mean _every_ time--he appeared within a 50-mile radius during those days, I saw him perform and he killed every time. I bought his CDs, I have a T-shirt or two of his, I have every season of "Mind of Mencia" on DVD...I was a huge fan. Then Joe Rogan put him on blast for stealing. At first, I didn't believe it, because I didn't want to believe it and I was throwing hate at Joe. Then other comedians were coming out and backing Joe's claims, which caused me pause. When Mencia admitted stealing on Marc Maron's podcast, I was done with him. I haven't listened to or watched him in over 10 years. I don't care about his apology tour, I don't care whether he's found God, I don't care about him. To me, there is no coming back when you plagiarize as a stand-up comic. I've never been a stand-up comic...I've never even tried, because I can only imagine the challenge of putting words together in ways no one has heard them before and turning it into entertainment. I can't support a thief, even if the thief may have reformed.

The performance of the joke is way more important than the actual content. Bad comics can make great material unfunny, and good comics can do the reverse, make bad material hilarious.

Carlos stole from everyone. When your a good performer the jokes don’t matter. It’s like the music business none of the big stars write their own material. The problem is a lot of these no name comedians are funny but they can’t perform well or have no personality. It’s not just the jokes that make u a star. U gotta have star qualities and the people have to like u. U gotta have that it factor.

Growing up as a young Mexican and seeing his show on comedy central was annoying. He was no Hispanic, just an overblown caricature. But he got rich from it so I can't hate on him lol. He's a George Lopez lite.
Only times I watched him was when he was in the middle of someone else's show, it got old to me, he always did the white ppl what the fuuuu, black ppl what the fuuuu, Mexicans what the fuuuu all the time, he got paid though stealing ppls jokes so he can't complain that's for sure

Idk Mencia seems to be the one barely holding it together because he knows he's been caught but keeps trying to lie his way out.

then you don't yet understand how stand-up comedy shows operate..
There's a Headliner who gets the most time, then comedians who perform before, and those people usually only get 5-15 minutes to warm up the audience for the Headliner..
But nobody wants to follow the Headliner, because he usually "kills"..
When a comedian "kills" it means the audience is laughing at everything he says and he's holding their attention in the palm of his hand..
And he has set the bar to the heavens for the following comedian. Even if the follower is normally really good (as the Headliner usually is), the contrast from the previous guy is so big.
In this case, Mencia has a lot of influence, so he showed up unannounced and squeezed in before the Headliner.
And instead of only performing 15 minutes, Mencia went almost 30 minutes, and "killed", thereby setting up a difficult task for the following comedian/Headliner.
It's an asshole move by Mencia, because every comedian knows how it works. But Mencia was trying to teach the guy a lesson.. Yet now that the truth is out, Mencia only tarnishes his reputation even more
