    Steady pressure wins the race. Jerking the rod is opening the hole for the fish to escape. I still got 4 months before I'm out so thanks for taking us along for the ride

    Nice video Capt! You really enjoy your boat and fishing. You should consider moving the generator when your fishing. You look unstable straddling it while fighting a fish and if the decks slippery you may get injured. Possibly you could consider storing it on the top of the flat deck on the starboard side by the transom. Hate to see you get hurt while being alone. Enjoyed the video, but so disappointed you lost that fish.

    Nice day on the water captain . Now if you allow me,
    13:23 is a juvenile amber jack (greater) I wanna believe. The lesser amber jack is similar, but not the same. If you are fishing deep water , 100’ plus you prolly had ‘reef donkeys “ lol ...Greater amber jacks . They can dislocate your shoulder no joke. When I hook one up, once the hook is set , I try to pull the fIsh away a few yards from the reef or structure by going forward on my trolling motor , just apply constant tension on the line it works Avery time; otherwise you’ll tend to lose the fish every time u high stick the rod by putting extreme pressure at the end of of your line/swivel. .. at times I use the main motor power to basically drag the fish away from the reef to avoid cutting me off, that’s how big they get, lol. For that i use a t least 80lb leader line and 60lb braid main/large circle hooks to match bait size. Good day captain. Btw, do you know what the water temperature is out there?
    25:30 is a vermilion snapper aka Mingo snapper. One phone application that can be handy is “ fish rules” with updated fish regulations based on your location. Thank you x sharing another day on the water amigo.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutOnTheReef FYI satellite internet coming soon captain...lol That rocket you saw, which by the way was pretty cool you have it in your video, is the Elon Musk SpaceX's Falcon9 rocket that actually took 143 small satellites which 10 of the were for the "starlink project" . A two stage booster, I understand, one came back down shortly after separation and recovered at sea (that id l ike to see) to be used again. Space travel is getting intense as of late and you are lucky actually to experience these happenings while you are having fun fishing and all. Awesome. Be safe out there amigo.

    I'm not a fisherman but that looks so fun. And I see people are giving you fair warning about going out alone, but it looks like you have a lot of redundancy for safety. Minn Kota to keep the boat close if you fall in....personal flotation device....generator on board...vhf radio....

    good MPG. how big your boat and what is the total weight wet? I have a 24 Fisherman Osprey with Volvo D4-260, 150-gallon tank, 30-gallon fresh tank, and with three people I get approx 2-2.5 MPG (loaded with fish in fish hold and two 120 qrt cooler filled with fish and water) 2500 RPM cruising at 25MPH. that's crazy leaving the helm and roaming in the back while the boat in gear forward motion. one good wave your boat just left you 20+ miles from shore.

    You might consider a Daiwa 500 or 800 2 speed electric reels. They get the fish up fast and away from the sharks and groupers.

      Daiwa Tanacom 500 Power Assist Electric Reel would serve you well for the fish you catch. I bought my last one at JandH tackle. Usual price is $599, but I got mine for 15% off at one of their sales.
