Super video! I've been overnight at anchor many hundreds of nights in the past 45 years. A little pat-pat-pat on the hull is like quiet music to lull you to sleep. The Slap-Slap- Slam-Slam is just noise that will not allow any sleep; I feel your pain! Hey cap, been watching your videos for a very long time, I’ve always wanted to do a trip to the Bahamas but I had a question for you, even though your Yamaha is one of the most reliable out there in the scenario of if you broke down, what would your plan be?
I have several plants I got my VHF radio to call Coast Guard or boat US towing company if that does not work while I'm drifting at Sea I have my Garmin mini iridium satellite communicator that I can contact my family and let them know where's my location which they already know it tells them exactly where I'm at every time they can let authorities know where I'm at so they can do a rescue of Towing or any other type of rescue but I don't let this stop me from making my trip just because have one engine having to engine is very expensive on the boat sometimes and as long as your engine is in great condition or new conditions and you will keep it I don't think you should be any problems and have spare prop spare oil spare plugs and some tools to do minor repairs at see if needed
I was reading about this few days ago. Now there are LARGE yachts with only one engine. Not talking on 6 figures. I a talking abt million dollars vessels. New engines are so reliable , that is almost impossible to get stranded out there . Of course engine and related systems has to be in good shape and have a minimun of basic spare parts for the very uncommon scenario of a break down .
@@perrooceaniko2005 I agree with you Captain they say now the new engines like specially Yamaha when people by two engines for safety at sea boat experts are saying that this new engine don't break down like they used to so a lot of boaters are going with one engine because of them not breaking down and like you said have essential parts spark plugs extra oil fuel filter small things just in case you need to do minor repairs and you should be all right
Thanks cap. The generator has 1.3 gallons of fuel and or last between 7 to 10 hours depending on how low you put your AC. Usually I will fill up the tank about midnight and our last me all the way till 7 or 8 in the morning
Hey brother, taking your boat from one water body to another is not recommended, make sure your vessel is cleaned before launching into another place. You are at risk of bringing organisms from the salt environment to the fresh water environment. I haven't found an actual law or regulation, but it is addressed by the state FWC.
Well the boat was completely dry is that what you mean the only thing on the boat was salt residue just like spilling salt from your kitchen on the lake it won't do any harm now if you have water and fish that you're dumping water to the environment that I understand but removing salt there is no law that prohibits you from doing that that I know of if you find Out that law let me know so I can look into it thanks captain
@@OutOnTheReef - For boating in the salt environment, the rule is to rinse and drain your vessel and trailer with fresh water before you leave the ramp area (if not the ramp, can be at your house), then allow to dry 5 days before launching in another fresh water body. This keeps organisms from being carried to the fresh water body. I took the state boating course and this was addressed there. You can also look online for the regulations. Also, from a corrosion standpoint, I would not allow the salt to dry on the equipment, you need to get that off as soon as possible. I just replaced my complete brake system including hubs and bearings because the prior owner did not take care of the salt drying on the equipment. Dual axle like yours, cost me $1,000 in parts, plus your engine needs a good 15 minutes on the hose after every excursion. I also need the axle spindles because of the same issue, gonna be another $500 or so. Just trying to help you capt, hope you have many days with blue skies and calm seas.

Thank you for the great video's! What software/Program were you using to detect that wind formation?
I use windy.com is one of the best apps
Awesome video as always . Capt let me ask you a question the shoes you use are boat shoes or regular everyday shoes ?
They are non slip shoes they're called trade safe
I find them very useful for boating and you can get them at Walmart I believe that like 32 bucks
Capt..better u install DIY a search light portable magnetic.or LED spotlight..
That's a great idea. But my next installation is going to be a radar Dome.

Captain out on the reef the lighthouses are becoming obsolete because of gps the lighthouses here like twelve of them from Key West to Jacksonville are going up for auction I read but buyer has to maintain them as historical places of interest thanks John
Wow that's great info captain did not know that thank you for sharing and if you buy that light house do you own the land underneath in the ocean or just the actual structure
Out On The Reef structure only and not allowed to move it either
@@hookednrolling2009 wow what kind of deal is that is very expensive to own the lighthouse to maintain it and you don't own anything else just the rusting metal.
Plus you may have to have insurance on it just in case somebody crashes into it.
That's crazy right
It would be real nice for you if you can install a seakeeper on that boat.
Hey Capt, awesome videos. Have 7 yrs left to retire then moving down to Florida to do the same as you. I do have one question. On your life vest you have two things attached, one looks to be a PLB , what's the black one on other side? For communication to Florida?
Thanks,
Capt Kevin
The other one is a satellite Communicator which I can email and text and it shows my location Everywhere I Go I have a link in the description below you can check it out it's an awesome tool to have in the middle of the ocean it's like having a satellite phone but you can only do email and text and congratulations on your future retirement and hopefully I will see you out here in the water one day on our way to Bahamas.

Man, the breakfast looks great! Just tuned in, is that a Parker?
awesome cap. welcome to my channel , this is a Crooked Pilothouse Boat only one build like this
When you come back in to US, do you have to check in physically anywhere? How do you do that part?
You have to register on a app is called CBP Roam and with that app you have to contact them when you come to the u.s. and they'll do a video chat or they will allow you to come and just buy phone and that's all you do video or just they give you a confirmation over the phone but you have to register to that app

What do you think going to Bimini this coming weekend Captain? Leaving from Halover Marina thewhere there seems to be good.
It's hard to say from today Sunday you should do what I do is as I get closer to departure that's what I make my decision but of course you have to plan from now.
For what I can see now it looks good till Monday Monday this going to be a little bit of head when against you to come back to Miami on Monday but let's keep an eye on the weather more tours Thursday night that way we have a better accurate weather but keep making the preparations that way you don't waste time if you decide to go

Nice video. New subscriber. The only thing that I could find on the triggerfish is they have to be brought into U.S. waters whole and not fileted.
Thank you for subscribing and welcome aboard to my channel.
And the Triggerfish yes you're right about that but the one that I show you that has a lot of colors that one is an exotic one that people use on their aquariums that's why they want you to bring that one alive if you look at your fish and wildlife website it says it right there which is a crazy regulation I think.
Sorry about the drama mean lol
Thanks for watching captain
@@OutOnTheReef
I used to have several reef tanks with live corals and fish, including triggerfish. I was a captain myself, living aboard my 32 foot sailboat in the Gulf but sold her 8 weeks before hurricane Harvey came ashore in Rockport Texas and destroyed the marina I was in. I miss it a lot.
I was just kidding about the dramamine but my boat wasn't that rocky. Of course I had a 4000 pound keel hanging under it. I've been in 12 foot seas. I have a video on my channel from my sail out into the gulf. It's just a short one.

FWC has the Queen Trigger regulated as aquarium fish, hence the keeping them alive. But thats for Fl Atlantic State waters, you couldve kept it there in bahamas

you ever get worried about breaking down or traveling so far alone on a single engine? love the videos to your very adventurous
Breaking down is part of life hopefully I never have to go through that but if I do I am sorta prepare to try to get assistance I got two forms of communication via satellite and also vhf
Out On The Reef thank you
I was reading about this few days ago.
@@perrooceaniko2005 I agree with you Captain they say now the new engines like specially Yamaha when people by two engines for safety at sea boat experts are saying that this new engine don't break down like they used to so a lot of boaters are going with one engine because of them not breaking down and like you said have essential parts spark plugs extra oil fuel filter small things just in case you need to do minor repairs and you should be all right
where do you suggest parking thats safe for a truck and trailer after launching a boat in that area?
In the past I have used Crandon Marina and Haulover Marina
And the charge for daily parking is between 10 and $16
Maybe there used to be chickens on the island.
LOL that looks like a very small island is more like a rock that measures about 40 x 40 with no vegetation they must have starve to death LOL

Hey, Capt, how long would the generator last you? Is that only for a/c? Great video as usual!
Really
