    The Diadem is going to appeal to Bible fans who found the Pitt Minion slightly too small to read comfortably (or at all!), but also anybody looking for a personal/mid-sized reference Bible in a modern translation. I thoroughly enjoyed using the Diadem and found it very easy on the eye. I'm extremely excited to see how the leather editions turn out, in particular the red calfskin and the brown calf-split leather! These future editions (coming in Spring 2022) will be printed and bound by Jongbloed, will be red letter only and will use a finer Bible paper, akin to a lot of 'luxury' Cambridge editions.

    DIADEM shape is ideal. Esp to be size of CONCORD.
    This WILL be a winner for Cambridge. I especially like smaller bibles THAT I can READ. Can't wait for BOTH bibles ...hardback AND calfskin. CAMBRIDGE got THIS right. Thanks Mark.

    Another excellent review, Mark. As Psalm 90 (ESV) says:
    "The years of our life are seventy,
    or even by reason of strength eighty;"
    Well, I've had my three score and ten already and I'm still able to read my four beloved Pitt Minions with no trouble at all. That assumes, of course, that I'm wearing my spectacles and I'm in good light. If the good Lord deigns to bless me with ten more years "by reason of strength", I strongly suspect that my treasured Pitt Minions will be (sigh) too small for me and the Diadem may just be the ticket. Like you, I'm anxiously looking forward to the leather editions and other versions as well. Thanks, Mark!

    I remember getting the ESV Pitt Minion back in.. 2013 I think? Still have it with me to this day. Always thought, “If they took this exact Bible and made it a bit bigger, it would be the perfect Bible.” Really looking forward to picking up both a hardcover of this and a leather one later on.

  • @gleasonparker1684
    @gleasonparker1684 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The fact that CAMBRIDGE favours ESV for their initial public offering..both in TOPAZ and now with DIADEM..raises that translation to #1. In my thinking. Hope CAMBRIDGE follows with NKJV as they did with TOPAZ.
    Cambridge hits a home run with THIS .

  • @gleasonparker1684

    CONCORD is about 9 POINT FONT and DIADEM about 8.5 ? I think. It will be exciting for Cambridge conisours. To see different translations extant. Really excited to see. I have the Pitt Minions both in KJV and the NKJV - LOVE THEM. I am *dying* for Cambridge to come out with the NKJV translation of the Diadem. I am madly in love with the traditional double-column, center reference layout like in the Pitts. I got incredibly frustrated to find out that Cambridge doesn’t have the Cameo in NKJV. Neither in the Concord. Nor in the Turquoise! I do not understand why?! 😭 I do not like the layout of the Topaz and I am not looking for single-column style like in the Clarion (which I do have in the NASB) nor something as large as the wide-margin. If they come out with a NKJV Diadem, I will *SCREAM* my lungs out in excitement… then immediately buy it. I promise you.
    😂
    PLEASE CAMBRIDGE, I beg you 🙏🏻

    • @BurtonBibles
      @BurtonBibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Anna, just so you know the Cameo, Concord and Turquoise are all old letterpress editions that originate from the 20’s and 50’s, all originally plates of the KJV text. This means it’s impossible to insert a different translation into these formats as they are plates. I’m sure we will see new editions of the Diadem though.

      Concord is 8 pt (though reads like a 9 with the boldness & spacing between lines) & Diadem is 8.2 pt (yet from reviews it looks smaller print than the Concord due to font style, lighter print and tighter spacing). I know Mark already corrected the font size in another comment above. ☺️
      My one concern is the "cramped" look of the text, it is very readable for me in the Pitt, but in an enlarged format, it looks like it needs to increase the leading to look more proportionate. 🤔
