As a high school player I can agree that when we actually get a euphonium part not an optional trombone 3/ tuba part it is soo fun. And your tone is sooo good like wth I wish

@@SweetSpotGuitar Oh, for a bass trombonist having a great tubist sitting next to them makes ALL the difference. You feel like you can move mountains when you gel with a tuba player right.
My opinion - most marches when there's a countermelody, usually on a repeated strain, the baritone-euphonium parts have a coolness factor that can't be beat.
Especially in Chicagos world's fair 1933 I think, the low brass is the star of the piece and I love it

The fact that you all sounded like 1 during jai ho is amazing since I’ve only heard it during high school football games and everyone is blasting because they are hyped.
I played Euphonium in school. A lot of solos. I was fine with them in concert season but standing on a football field all by yourself playing alone was breve racking. I made it to all state once but so many had talent i couldn’t touch.
I play French horn and there aren't a lot of good parts, but when we get a good part, it's the best.

With me being a High School Euphonium, I can definetly agree that we get some pretty awesome parts! But sometimes my parts take longer to actually receive because I play Treble Cleff Euphonium.
Yo, I play Treble Clef Euphonium too! Though I’m starting to learn Bass Clef, cause I feel like it’ll be easier in the long run.
@@alphascore7216 doesn't treble clef mean u were bad at another instrument so u had to switch to euphonium. ........
Its good to be good at both. Gives you more choice what you can play. Sometimes, there are actually different lines in the different clefs.
@@danielm17 No actually, In Middle school I played Trumpet. We had absolutely no low brass, so my teacher asked for someone to switch over. I was the one who volunteered. Just beacuse someone plays TC Euphonium doesnt mean they were bad at another instrument.
Wazowski CS:GO I was 1st chair trumpet when I switched to euphonium. My BD didn’t make me switch, I just simply liked the sound of the instrument. However I do read bass BC primarily now. Also, Steven Mead started on cornet before he moved to alto horn, and finally the euphonium.
Excellent. Especially true in brass band. Sometimes in concert band / wind ensemble I found a lot of shared parts with saxophones which I always found annoying. But euphonium is truly marvelous in brass band.
I play bassoon in my school band and sometimes I play the euphonium part and I can say I ALMOST enjoy them more than the bassoon parts

I’ve played the euphonium since fourth grade and i can confirm this is true
So here’s the thing. Trumpets are the most notorious “band instrument”
- Brass specifically- but as music gets tougher, the low brass gets better parts which sound super dope. That’s why I started learning the French horn (more like mellophone cuz marching band) and euphonium along with the trumpet.
What a joy it is to hear a euphonium played well.
I have to admit, I only played the baritone horn (bass clef) but i love how our parts had beautiful counter melodies and atmospheric portions while the other instruments played the melodies. And then every once in a while, Boom, we had the melody for a good couple of bars. The euphonium and baritone horn was a combination of high noted tuba and low noted French horn. Indigo Azai my auditions are Thursday, as a tuba they give us two etudes from the blazevich book. A fast and slow piece.

Euph parts are amazing. Its why I love the old girl. Carnival is amazing on Euph. ALL marches are awesome especially Sousa and Alford marches. Super hero stuff right there. Also Gustav Holst knew a good Euph when he heard one. Make Euphs a symphonic instrument now !!!!!!!!

I'm in 7th as well, but I think the parts I play are already fun.
Fully expected the opening solo of Willbys "Jazz" to be in there. Absolutely devilish to get perfect and you can hear even the tiniest scratch.

Throne room was my favorite
My bandmates and I had the absolute pleasure of playing Armenian Dances by Alfred Reed. I played alto saxophone but the euphonium part was so beautiful and lush and especially lively towards the end of the piece. I’m sure you’re probably already aware of this piece and his other works but if not I strongly encourage you to give it a listen!

It seemed in band the euphonium often took over what a cello would do in an orchestra. It was pretty cool until I had to play Enigma Variations, where it became impossible.
Yeah I guess euphonium has some pretty cool parts and I always loved the mellow sound. But when I heard 5:36 I remebered why I play the horn.
I’m a Euphonium player and I love my instrument it’s one of the most fun and important instrument in the band and I would not choose any other instrument
I've been playing Euphonium since grade school. I am 39 now, and a member of a Community Band. I have to agree. On more difficult pieces, the Euph. parts are awesome (and sometimes difficult). For transcription from orchestra pieces, NOT arrangements, the Euph part is a combination of Cello, F. horn, trombone. In the Raider's March we have, the middle theme (Marion's Theme) is in the Euph Part. The first half is doubled on F. Horn (the original orchestra has the horns playing the theme), but then they cut out half way through, and the Alto and Tenor Saxes take over. The Euph part has the whole theme, which goes up to a high B natural. Then, the first Euph part has the Harp part when the rest of the band comes in.
Marches, especially Sousa, Euph almost always has melody......fun, but tires you out a bit because of no breaks. :)
I'm a tuba player and I gotta admit the tubas had their moments but you did have some pretty freaking cool parta

What is suite and composer is the star wars “throne room” from? My band director would be very interested in having our wind ensemble okay that.
It's from John Williams, he wrote it for Star Wars Episode IV and it is called Throne Room if I'm not mistaken.
As a Trombone player, I wish I could physically play sixteenths.
As a trumpet player, i am kind of jealous of you.
As a french horn player, I overpower both of you with more slides and keys than trumpets and trombone. I get melody and harmonic parts. Come vibe with the french horn.

sixteenths are definitely possible but very hard though. It just requires you to learn how to double-tongue most of the time

French horns have the best part in starwars. They play with the trumpets and low brass.
Is that a compensating horn?
Yep. An easy way to tell is by looking at where the 4th valve is placed. If it's next to the 1st, 2nd and 3d valve, it's non compensating, if it's at the botom on the side like the horn I use, it's almost always going to be compensating euphonium with couple of non frequent exceptions.
Matonizz thanks. As a tuba player I had no idea because the 1st 2nd and 3rd valve are almost always in line with each other.

Cameron Horn Baritones also have less tubing and are smaller than the euphonium.

@Matonizz Also, You have a Nasir Ali Euphonium... Was it any good? I heard you play it but you could make a lava lamp sound good if you tried, so was it good? I am wondering because my only school rented euphonium is dented all on the side and it sounds not very good, and I don't have a lot of money, (like I only have $300 set aside) so I was wondering if that is a good option for a cheap euphonium. I have been playing for under a year btw.

@@GregArmWrestling No, it was actually quite horrible to be fair :D Might have been the worst euph I've tried ever. Somehow in my head I thought that it was quite obvious in my video but it seems like a lot of people though that it actually sounded good. That being said, definitely don't get it if you're thinking about it :D

Go learn it. It might net you some fun parts otherwise locked behind it. Sometimes the parts differ based on clef. Dunno why.
