    As a person who recently got into the glass business of doors and windows, there's also tempered glass for windows and doors in your house as well. So at 2:02 yes, the glass can actually look like that when breaking in a full glass door because a lot of housing in the south have tempered glass to help with the temperature of the house to stay cooler.

      @jonastalbott8495 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Just_A_Dude just a quick friendly clarification: thats not really why it breaks like that. the glass is just harder through tempering so its more resilient which causes it to break into smaller fragments compared to big shards with untempered glass. safety glass thats in some cars wont cut tempered glass def can.

      @@maxnorton1209 Absolutely, I really like the fact that some of these films like John Wick, Bourne and Atomic Blonde are more grounded in reality these days. They don't make out that the character is invincible, they take damage during the fights and it affects them in a real world way, slowing them down, knocking them off their stride and showing the pain inflicted. Unlike films of not that long ago when the lead character would take several blows to the head and face but get little more than a scratch and carry on to defeat half a dozen henchmen with little effort.

    Two things.
    1: one reason I really like John Wick is that it is, for the most part, rather realistic. Like, John gets hit and injured, so he’s not portrayed as this godlike man, he’s just really skilled. And most of his kills are head shots.
    2: I’ve always thought that a doctor who knows how to really fight, would be a terrifying opponent. They know just where to hit to cause the most pain, or for you to bleed but not die, or die both slowly and painfully. It’s kinda scary.

      There is an Italian comedy about a group of university researchers, real experts in their respective fields who are left without a job because our University system does not reward actual merit but rather having friends in the right place (it's a bit of an exaggeration but just a bit) so they basically team up and become crime lords.
      The chemist and biologist synthesises a super-addictive MDMA-like drug, the economist develops a foolproof marketing/distribution model and there is also a doctor/expert in anatomy that is the resident martial arts expert because he knows how to cause just enough pain in the best way.
      (My favourite is the social anthropologist that's basically the con man/undercover agent because he can fake any accent and infiltrate any social circle by mimicking their body language and social habits and the two linguists that argue in Latin)

    Actually for me it’s realistic. In wrestling we do a move called a sweep single and basically sweep the other wrestlers leg in the air with our own leg (kinda what he did) and sometimes (not all the time) their legs end up flying like this

    • @The_Chef2511
      @The_Chef2511 3 ปีที่แล้ว +109

      Military grade martial arts have a similar technique. To get the legs over the head you need to either be using momentum against them or adding force in your own movement to force them up. A notable use of this is a kick reversal where a kick is caught, the off balance leg is swept and the caught leg is pushed to make it a flip onto the back or neck. Depending on how much rotation you get and how high the reversed kick was it's a fatal counter because it's bringing a lot of weight and momentum down onto the head or neck.

    So i happen to be a fighter myself (started taking classes roughlt 5-6 years ago) and i can attest that the movie actually is super realistic with how people react. That leg kick where his legs go over his hesd is very real, thats a judo move. The "effortless" throw where she flies off his shoulder is also real, hes combining her momentum with muscles in his arms, back and a little bit in the legs.
    This obviously isnt an insult as i wont deny, those specific moves do tend to look impossible or fake even in real life when you see it. There are other effortless throws like that one that i almost think aren't real until they are done to me.
    The thing about the world of John Wick is that everything is a 50/50 between sheer skill and knowledge, and tradition. Thats why wick drinks alcohol even when he is bleeding. Or why while he is very, VERY aware of anatomy and what part of your body does what, john relies on a doctor to fix him whenever possible. The world follows a very seperate set of rules.
    But in real life youd be right, the alcohol thing just doesn't make sense.

    Actually some of the judo moves used in here can actually make you fly more dramatically than you think, it's how you use your opponents momentum and weight distribution at the time of implementing the technique, it's obviously not easy, but if done correctly it is possible for your feet to fly over your head so to speak.

    • @Alicangame
      @Alicangame ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Totally agreed, most mixed martial arts teach you how to use your body effectively against opponents body and their momentum. you can actually flip people twice your size easily if done correctly. You just have to pivot properly and make sure body balance is correct. Also a lot of time he suggested certain things are not realistic for example the body builder not reacting much over knife on his shoulder but jumping when wick stomps on his feet. I think he ignored the fact that many body builders work more on their upper body and take suppliments which makes their big muscles hard and a little numb because of stress on them. but small muscles like on feet are more reactive because they are closer to small bones. you can kick a guy on chest and he might even not feel much but when he accidentally hits a corner on his pinky, he would cry hahaha. So there are a lot of variables which I think John wick plays an accurate role in.

    Let's not forget that, when he got thrown off the balcony flat onto his back, he immediately rolls over to reveal a small-of-the-back pistol holster. Those things are super dangerous to fall onto just from standing hight because they are a lump of steel positioned directly over the vertebrae in exactly the spot people tend to land on when they fall backwards. That would have been a serious injury if he just got his legs swept out from under him, forget falling from a hight.

    Not that anyone would care being 3 weeks late and a dollar short, but Dr. Mike is absolutely right about the shattered glass.
    However precisely because of that modern sliding glass doors & those georgeous floor to celing windows are overwhelmingly tempered (not 100% but close). This still lends itself to minor probable lacerations during shattering simply because of the weight x velocity of the falling jagged debris (though small). It's enough to shear or tear through light weight clothing like a t shirt etc.
