Very cool. I like the power supply solution. I've been trying to figure out how to get +12 and -12V onto my VMEbus backplane without forking out copious amounts of money for a modular PSU. But I have a PSU from a Cisco 1760 that has nothing better to do, so I think I'll have to borrow this idea and get a couple of boards made up to make that PSU modular. Same for the floppy drive, definitely yoinking that idea. 🙂
Floppy drive was a pain because the drive itself is as wide as the card slot, so the mounting screws would have fouled the mounting rails. In a taller chassis I could have used just the one PCB to mount it. If I had to guess, I'd say the PSU probably came from an old 3550 switch, but it was that long ago that I really can't remember for sure. It was a pretty handy size though :-)
IIRC there is/was a 12 slot available, but I figured 8 would do me. I've still got a few slots I can add backplane connectors to if I want to add more cards :-)

Mine looks exactly the same, although it doesn't do 3.3V.
I guess they had these things mass produced and spec'd into a lot of different products.
There is/was a bigger backplane available, i use it for my N8VEM SBC.v2 (the OG v2, not the new v2)
