I suppose it would be better if the address you want to test in the diagnostic software was passed in as a command line option rather than being baked in.
I've got my new 68k based design up and running now, with FreeRTOS+TCP, and it's pingable at a couple of hundred (small) pps. I need to look at getting something like CP/M running on it though. I've also been looking into maybe trying to get uClinux to run on it but that looks quite daunting.
Good job on the 68k! You should blog this stuff - I remember when you did that with the transistor digital clock and it was fascinating to see it come together! Probably as much work writing the blog posts as it was building the clock though :-(
