Vielen Dank, Noraly!
I had a 1974 Kawasaki KT 250 to participate in vintage trials. We called it motorcycle yoga. You really have to be flexible and have good balance. Modern trials is insane!
Eish! Loraly, now I understand why you handled Sani Pass and thebChimanimani mountains like a pro. Well done, seriously impressed with your flair for applying yourself to all those lessons. You never cease to amaze me.
Five thumbs up! Yeah, observed trials, the motorsport of my youth in the Rocky Mountains of the USA. It will show whether one has good basic skills, and will improve your riding... all types of riding.
Noraly, In the mid 70's I helped a good friend move his family to Broomstraw Ridge in Jumping Branch, West Virginia, population 360, from California. I liked it so much I fixed up an old one room house behind theirs and stayed a while, (2 yrs.) We bought a pair of new Suzuki 250 trails bikes and started exploring up in the hills behind the place. What we found was many hundreds of acres of abandon strip mines! It was trail bike heaven! We road new ground almost every time we went out and never saw another soul! I still have peg scars on my shins from it! What a Blast!
Noraly you are a natural rider like when you raced on the TT track I could see that you are a quick learner and with all your pre-training off-road in all those countries have shone through in trial riding as it is a skill on its own and you flew through with little difficulty and I bet learned a lot as trial riding is not an easy sport to master in the 80s when I used to do trials the bikes were not as good as yours but were still proficient at doing the sport and we had a load of fun which is what its all about having fun and making friends in my case life long friends in any motorsport you will find some amazing people and make great friendships along the way and I am looking forward to seeing your endeavours in the future as you have now become an all-round rider.
Loved riding this sport for 40 years and so pleased you enjoyed it. Much harder on the body than you expect but once you relax it starts to come more easily. Improves all skills for riding motorcycles better.
Great when you manage to make these to our delight even though the world situation is what it is. i enjoy watching when you are so positive and happy and you take us along. thank you
I went from Trials to Motocross, to settle on Enduro. I loved it. Long rides/races with everything from deep river crossings to steep hill climbs. From fast trails to rock jumping. We covered it all. So much fun.
I started riding dirt bikes when I was 14 & those skills have been so valuable on the street with my old Harley to the Dresser that you inspired me to buy & get riding again. 😎
My big brother threw me on a little Honda trail 50 when I was 5. We lived on the top of a very steep hill and he showed me where the brakes, gear shift and gas was and pushed me down the hill yelling at my to ride or die. I got to the bottom of the hill and promptly fell over. I was hooked from then on.
I am glad to see that you’re honing your riding skills. What you are learning now will be a big benefit to you as you travel, and could save your life. Well done!

Lovely stuff! My first motorcycle was a 1974 Honda TL125 trials bike. The skills you learn in that sport are tremendous confidence-boosters, and transferable to everything else you’ll ever do on two wheels.
Well done Noraly. No smacking trees with the handlebars , and no spills , at least on camera , good bike and speed control. Love it. Oh and the kick start hahaha. Cool video.
Noraly you are such an inspiration and this is because you are willing to be instructed on how to master all facets of riding a motorcycle. My congratulations to you.
This was great to watch. My first ride was on my Grandfather's Honda TL 250 at the age of 14. I was hooked. My father found me a beautiful Honda TL 125 (I think a 1974) and purchased it as my first ever bike. This was back when the Trial's bikes had a modest seat on them. I still learned how to climb over logs, rocks etc and take corners uber slow. It takes a lot of skill to stand up and go slow. I have also been to Trial's Competitions and the people who climb rocks that are taller than they are from the bottom at a near stand still and all the other things they do, like going across skinny logs across a river, etc. is mind-blowing. The first time I switched over to riding a traditional 4-stroke dirt bike, I had to essentially relearn how to ride. I found out very quickly that the turning radius was not as good and I couldn't go slow or really around things. I had to learn to go faster and go OVER things. :) I have mad respect for all of the trial's riders who ride now with no seat, etc.
Noraly, trials & motocross schools will improve your adventure riding so much. Do more when you can. I started riding on fields in 73 at the tender age of 14 on an old 350cc bike. A year later I was riding trials and dirt trails on a old British Greeves 250. At 17 I worked 2 jobs to buy a Bultaco 250 trials bike, it was a quantum leap in ability & elevated my skills too. Apart from competitions, playing "follow my leader" was such fun.
The last time I rode a trials bike I was 19, that was errrm, a few years ago! I was leaning left, right, forward, backwards watching the video, it looked like a LOT of fun. Really enjoying this series Noraly, thank you.
Last time I rode a trial bike was errrrm a brand new 1975 Yamaha TY 125! And I kept it a while. I love to watch Trial competition. It is just amazing what the bikes and the riders are capable off! To the good old days. Cheers
I started trial when I was less than 13 on a TY 80 (Yamaha), then a TL 125 (Honda), a TY 175 ... It brought me invaluable skills on the road and a mentality that saved my life i.e. the pleasure of riding a motorcycle is not linked in any way to speed.
@@sylvainmichaud2262 I totally agree with you. And it is funny to me nowadays all these new motorcycles come with ride modes!! Back then we only had one ride mode: can you ride? I won't even go through the different modes offered now! I can tell you that I and many of us went around the world with an accelerator, some sort of brakes, no GoreTex, no wheelie control, no ABS, a carburetor which could always be repaired/fixed....the most important spare part I/we carried was a clutch cable or 2! Pretty much everything else could be improvised/fixed with some ingenuity! It still applies in less fortunate countries. I know I am older but I am so happy to have experienced biking back then. Sorry about this long comment but I guess we are most likely from the same generation and I love to share my experiences as a biker. Happy holiday season. Cheers
Atta Girl, keep stretching your skills, I love what you are role modeling here to your peers and youngsters. You are living life to the fullest. Heart wide open, spirit guided, feet on the ground, You are doing it. thank you for sharing this part of your life. You are making a difference.
Watching a few older videos , I realized how musical and animated Noraly's voice is which adds nicely to the narrative qualities within when interacting with others as well as your audience. I grew up in the 70s riding BMWs everywhere with no reservation and recently tried a Honda CRF 250 Rally My comment on it is I hope someone buys it soon so I can get back on another old BMW.
Noraly, this takes me back to my childhood. I was a youngster when my dad taught me to ride, first on an old moped around the back garden and then, when he was satisfied that I could fall off without crying, he got me a small British motorbike, an old James, and took me over the fields. We lived in a small village where farming and mining for coal were kings. I rode on farms belonging to friends of my father and over the slag heaps and deserted ruins of a closed down coal mine. This is where I cut my teeth. As youngsters we would ride trials at weekends and it was great fun. As a teenager I helped my father (a police motocyclist) train young children to ride pedal cycles safely. To prove myself, I also took the RoSPA test with them. (For those who don't know, back in the 1960s the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, which began in 1947, ran courses and examinations locally for all children who could cycle. In my area it was discontinued in 1974). I passed the test 10 times and the Advanced Riders Test twice. At 16, I obtained my driving licence and the call of tarmac roads and the freedom to ride further than ever before, led me away from trials riding, although I never lost the thrill of riding off road when I could. I confess, that the little rebel in me and the thrill of doing something naughty was the root cause of my attempt to ride a trials bike up mount Snowdon in Wales in 1972/3. I failed miserably and gave up when threatened with the law by some hill walkers. It wasn't the fear of the law that stopped me as much as the punishment that would be meted by my father if ever he found out. I finally confessed to him in his final year. We were talking about my FJ1200 and I recounted my Welsh camping adventures as a teenager, forgetting to omit the Snowdon tale. The look on his face was priceless. He was 79 years old, I was 51 and I felt like a naughty schoolboy again. Thanks for sharing your short trials adventure, Noraly, you brought back so many happy memories. Stay safe, ride well and keep washing your hands. Best wishes from South Staffordshire, UK. Geoff 😷👍👍😷
She did ride over a mountain pass in the mud and snow. In freezing temps. We nearly froze your butts off just watching. It was in one of the stan countries in the middle east. that was with Basanti, my favorite. I want to go to the shop and visit Basanti, one day.
This forest reminds me of southern Ohio USA such good times we had in the 70’s with regular dirt bikes and a neighborhood of kids riding together having fun thanks girl..Noraly
I loved the “I made my own route!” comment. I recently did that twice on a race track and the instructors were not buying my explanation that I wanted to see how the race bike handled off road :) (It handled fine- just don’t brake!). I thought you did great, and the area you were riding in was beautiful. This whole series of videos has been really engaging and enjoyable!
I have the same Monty 315, they have loads of grunt and can be a bit of a handfull. You did really well and your body position was good. Obviously looking ahead at where you want to be going next, not staring at the floor in front of the wheel. You can now start to appreciate how much balance is improved when stood up. Bloody good Job.
trail riding is best place to begin riding as skills learned off road lead to better ability on road , small bike also help as they help teach how to get the best out of what you have , I know plenty of riders who began on larger bikes and just can't keep up with e rider who learned on small bikes
Good effort this will definitely make you a better adventure rider did you do any riding when you worked here in Australia l enjoy watching your adventures very inspiring
Trials & sand riding should be required for all motorcycle riders. If you can do trials & sand/mud road riding is a breeze. When I was a teen my uncle had a Bultaco trials bike. My brother and I would take turns doing trials in the forest. Mastering slow speed, balance, throttle and clutch control made everything on motorcycles so much easier. Noraly you are becoming a moto master, love it and thanks for taking us along.
Oh wow. Well done. I have for 40yrs drove a street bike , everything upto 1400cc. I could never go off road like you did. Well done. I haven't got any muscles in my legs to do that. I admire you. Long may you continue my dear.
I looked and looked again and again yesterday for the new Itchy Boots. Then I realized it was not Monday yet. It was Sunday! Long time from Monday to Monday!
Such a change from the normal Noraly expedition! The European autumn is so good to view from down under. Being a pom going back 60 years autumn is very much missed. The beauty and peace - wonderful! Not surprised you were flaked out after 4 hours...
First time I ever saw Trials Riding was in the movie "On Any Sunday " and I fell in love with the sport. I could really appreciate the slow n precise maneuvers. I had only ridden a '71 Honda 50cc Mini-Trail by then. 3 speed, auto. Back in the 1970s, I had no idea where to go see such riding style here in S.E.Texas. So I followed it in my teens by purchasing countless bike magazines and I followed the Europeans. There's a used Montesa for sale on CL. With no way to trailer it around, would be a waste of my $$. I'm still looking for a used XT250. But may have to buy one brand new next spring. Or the new Kawis 300cc are on my short list now. Thanks Ms Noraly for featuring Trials riding on your channel. Looked like so much fun, hope u can return to it to try again RIDE ON-RIDE SAFE!
That was so much fun, Noraly. I could watch you ride all day. I am an old woman now, but I used to ride all the time when I was young. Off road, on road, and a combination. Motorcycles were my main mode of transportation for awhile. I grew up in the country riding trails in the back woods, so today was like reliving some of that. Thanks again for taking me along on your handlebars. Ride on!
Trials riding is so crazy. It’s ballet/martial arts/dressage/gymnastics on a motorcycle. When I was a kid, My cousin and I used to do this on DIY courses on our Honda SL 70s. I’m happy you an opportunity to do this. Hello to the world 🌎 from the US 🇺🇸.
Great job Noraly. Trails is a whole other world of control. Finese with the engine, brakes, clutch and body english. Yeap, it will wear you out. So worth it to find you balance and control. Stay safe. Motocross, another world.
Just watching as you manouvred Ronin on your way out of there showed how much you had learned today. I realy enjoyed watching your progress/confidence grow as the day wore on. Great episode, as they all are.
as a 74-year-old this took me back to my teenage years THANK YOU. I have been watching your Africa journey starting in Morocco and just love what you're doing x
just like anything else its practice. the more low speed stuff you practice on bikes the better you'll do at trials. i'd like to give a trial bike a go one of these days though, they look fun and flickable.
What FUN! I rode street bikes for 10 years before getting on an off-road bike for the first time. The feel is so much different but dirt riding is a blast! And no traffic to worry about, just rocks and maybe a tree or cliff. Always wanted to try a trials bike. You did so well in your 4 hour intro to dirt riding and trials bikes. In all your adventures, I had never thought about your always having an electric start instead of a kick start. Another good thing....the dirt bikes are lighter (for all the times you fall over and have to pick them up). Safe travels!
Geez, if it was that much fun just to watch, then you must have had an absolute blast actually riding trials! Next Monday's videos looks like its going to be a load of fun too! 😁
When I was much younger, I bought a new trials bike and got pretty good on it. I lived in Alaska and used it to take me all over, out in the bush, where I camped and rode for many miles. It was a great bike! SR
You were brilliant. When that instructor said fatigue was setting in I totally know that feeling even though only on the road. That forest section looked amazing, nice to see some hills in the Netherlands.
Oh man, that so takes me back 50 years ago riding with my dad! Was about 10 years old when he gave me his bultaco 250 sherpa t. It's a grand lifestyle! Cheers from 🇨🇦!
Is this what they call a boring season??🤔 I don't ride but I'm enjoying every single of it! I find it very interesting to see her on a trial bike knowing she already travelled across continents and experienced different terrains. She's making the most of her time in her country to share dutchmoto and to learn new skills👌Looking forward on Monday's vlog😍
Noraly , thank you for reminding me how much fun it was to play off road which i did most every Sunday for more than forty years . Now i tour on my goldwing when i can get away and enjoy it as well . And yes off road riding is , i believe, the best training you can ever get for riding motorcycles of every kind in most all conditions. Thoroughly enjoy being with you on your adventures .
@@kimbee2604 I just touched your comment and the TH-cam app started my reply with your name at the front. But I do know that there are limitations to how this works now. For instance, you used to be able to write a comment and tag someone in your comment using the @ symbol, but that no longer works. I think it only works if you actually touch that person's comment to reply specifically to them.
I think trials is the most mentally challenging form of motorcycling. You have to make mental calculations and adjustments depending on where you are and where you want to go in fractions of seconds. A lot of riding is repetition and repeating what works. Try that in trials and you'll get lost. I had a feeling Noraly would be very good at trials and she did not disappoint. Such a great rider, smooth flow and so easy on the motorcycle.
Welcome to the wonderful world of off-road motorcycling! Trials riders are the magicians of the motorcycle world! The things they do are amazing and truly incredible! Trials and off-roading in general make you a much better street rider. If there is an off-road course in the Netherlands, you should try that out too. As an off-road coach, I recommend it for all street riders. It improves your slow riding and balance so much! Great job, Noraly!
Well done Noraly! Your instructor was great. I think trials experience would benefit any rider who leaves the pavement. I have never been on a trials bike myself, but would love to try it. In a local parade, one of the trials riders jumped into the back of a pickup truck, turned around and drove out, without ever putting a foot down. I didn't think that was possible. Thanks for taking us along.
Oh, how I miss my little old yz! Forty years without riding and then I see Norali standing in the bike making turns... and suddenly I realize I was instinctively leaning my body and pressing my feet to the ground. You can leave trial but trial never leaves you, I guess. Congrats for the lovely video, Norali.
Here am I. 50 years old with what can only be described as a "dadbod" and I quite fancy having a go at trials. But after watching your video I have decided to stay home. My knees were aching just watching you. Brilliant video Noraly. X

@@patrickcooper9641 i had a 1972 ossa mick andrews replica. i enjoyed trials more than motocross or enduro. those were good times!
@@yenbbc8840 Ossa, Montessa, Bultaco, Huskies...........they were so much fun!
I did the same course in England a few years ago it taught me so much about slow riding off road and it stays with you forever
Totally agree! Probably the best way to learn how to handle a bike at slow speed.
Watching a few older videos , I realized how musical and animated Noraly's voice is which adds nicely to the narrative qualities within when interacting with others as well as your audience.
I grew up in the 70s riding BMWs everywhere with no reservation and recently tried a Honda CRF 250 Rally
My comment on it is I hope someone buys it soon so I can get back on another old BMW.
Good morning, Noraly. An another Monday, another great mood video 🥰
Geoff
😷👍👍😷
For someone who hasn't done trials riding ever, you were amazing! Can't wait to see the next episode!
You made me remember when I was Young, thank you
🇬🇧 amazing that looked brilliant lots of fun learning some amazing skills.
After watching so many of your videos that was an absolute rollercoaster of a ride and you could tell even on screen… Awesome!!!
Absolutely freaking awesome to watch you learning these new riding skills. Loving it!!!!!! 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Super effort Noraly Trail riding isn’t easy, well done.
trail riding is best place to begin riding as skills learned off road lead to better ability on road , small bike also help as they help teach how to get the best out of what you have , I know plenty of riders who began on larger bikes and just can't keep up with e rider who learned on small bikes
Good effort this will definitely make you a better adventure rider did you do any riding when you worked here in Australia l enjoy watching your adventures very inspiring
Technically, she wasn't trail riding, she was trials riding which is even more difficult.
Trials not trail. Two different disciplines of motorcycle sport.
Sorry for being picky.
It sure takes practice
Trials & sand riding should be required for all motorcycle riders. If you can do trials & sand/mud road riding is a breeze.
When I was a teen my uncle had a Bultaco trials bike. My brother and I would take turns doing trials in the forest. Mastering slow speed, balance, throttle and clutch control made everything on motorcycles so much easier.
Noraly you are becoming a moto master, love it and thanks for taking us along.
Always love your videos. Highlight of my day.
Oh wow.
That is where technical mountain biking skills would pay off. Looked really fun.
Looked like so much fun, hope u can return to it to try again
RIDE ON-RIDE SAFE!
That was awesome!!’ Those skills will definitely help you when you are off road on your adventures!!! !👍
Ride on!
Riding different bikes and styles is so awesome to watch. What a treat, takes me back to my youth. Great series! Thank you.
Love your videos, even when you are not traveling ... I even click the thumbs up even before starting to watch them :D .. take care, Noraly.
Great job Noraly. Trails is a whole other world of control. Finese with the engine, brakes, clutch and body english. Yeap, it will wear you out. So worth it to find you balance and control. Stay safe. Motocross, another world.
Damn Noraly that was impressive for a first go. Well done.
Really enjoying these vlogs , well done 👍
Just watching as you manouvred Ronin on your way out of there showed how much you had learned today. I realy enjoyed watching your progress/confidence grow as the day wore on. Great episode, as they all are.
Yup me too, that was a tricky right down the slope and a left through the gate with no hesitation.👍
as a 74-year-old this took me back to my teenage years THANK YOU. I have been watching your Africa journey starting in Morocco and just love what you're doing x
That's really a fun and good workout. I will definitely choose it over gym everytime 😆. This series just keep getting better! Loving it!
What a fun way to ride. It's a whole new world that you can explore and enjoy on two wheels.
Noraly: No time for sightseeing.
Also Noraly: Cue montage of amazing bridge, amazing sunrise, amazing roads, amazing trees. 😄
That's the reason for no detours. Making it this assomb takes a super long time to get the perfect shots.
Looks like a ton of fun 👍👍
Everyone thinks they can do this until they give it a go. Well done, pretty impressive stuff 👍
just like anything else its practice. the more low speed stuff you practice on bikes the better you'll do at trials. i'd like to give a trial bike a go one of these days though, they look fun and flickable.
Yup, trials bikes are really difficult to ride until you get dialed in. Like the guy said, use your feet to steer.
Everyone should have a go at this. Really hones your low speed manoeuvring while on your “bigger bike”.
This is adventure extreme sports.... absolute stunning
It was cute how Noraly’s instructor at the trial riding school was showing off while leading her around! 🤗
Awesome! I grew up riding dirt bikes and this just takes me right back!
I was made an observer of one section of a Trial course (in Wales),
that my friend was taking part in on his Bultaco.
Excellent!! The skills you get this way can make life on the bike so much safer. Thanks Noraly.
YOU ARE DOING GOOD,,YOU ARE BORN WINNER
Noraly , thank you for reminding me how much fun it was to play off road which i did most every Sunday for more than forty years . Now i tour on my goldwing when i can get away and enjoy it as well . And yes off road riding is , i believe, the best training you can ever get for riding motorcycles of every kind in most all conditions. Thoroughly enjoy being with you on your adventures .
What a day, you did make it count . Bravo ‼️
Noraly I absolutely don't have any words but all I can say is that you are a super daring gutsy lady.....
Does look like fun. Had to laugh at myself a couple times I was leaning my head and body trying to turn with you. 😆
Me too!
@@jennythorpe777 We all will may have to be careful with so many of us leaning with noraly we might tip the world a little bit.
We should all join one of those yacht racing teams! I can picture us all leaning off the high side of the boat! 😀⛵
Yes indeed, me too. (how do you quote a person with the @ + name), sometimes it works and here not. (normally I tap into the name and it works)
In everything you do, you make your own route. And that’s part of why we love you and your adventures! Great vid ma’am! 😊
And I should have waited to comment at the end of the video! Have fun on the dirt bike!
Well done Noraly. I had my first attempt last month - so much fun and exhausting at the same time. Great to join you as you try new stuff. Thanks.
