    I was a motor cop for 15 years in the US. When I was a lieutenant, I had a line of police bikes from all over the world in my office. One day a man and his so walked by and the man was pointing to them, so I wasn't out to greet them. He had been a motor officer in Kennemerland in the Netherlands so I gave him one of our Traffic Division polo shirts. A few weeks later the son arrived and dropped off a collection of Dutch Police items including a baseball cap, tie, and tie bar. It was great to see you getting to experience some of their training. The instructors were great representatives of the Dutch Police. I'm glad I discovered your channel with this video! Best wishes from Delaware, USA! 🇺🇸🏍

      Hello Noud, for the exact reason why you would have to ask the person driving it. But I do have an idea. Every city orders it's own specifications on the bikes. It does happen a lot that the cruise control is not ordered because there are too many other buttons to be installed (and for the price as well). Also the bikes being offered to the police zones are pretty much standard. Like I said, the police force orders the specifications needed themselves. That wunderlich throttle lock can be convenient to practise figure-8 moves, very slow speed maneuvers ,... to keep the revs up. I saw as well that the bike had a non standard throttle lock ;) :p

    • @paulkuiper2325
      @paulkuiper2325 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@noudwieland3668 Hello Noud. The reason is that a lot of riders give police directions (with their right hand) while riding. The wunderlich is much better to handle in that case. Greetings from a police biker from The Royal Dutch Marechaussee.

    First day out with my license I went too hot into the turn and braked and stood the bike up and went into oncoming traffic but got lucky. Ever since then I’ve always put a high value on advanced rider training, defensive riding techniques (which doesn’t mean slow, quite the opposite in fact), and regularly practiced braking at various speeds, lean angles, and different bends (parabolic increasing curves are my favourite), emergency braking, and trail braking. I still watch and analyze crashes to see how I could have prevented them, try to learn new techniques, and try and hone low speed maneuvers. Never stop learning. It always pays off. My advanced training and constant focus on learning has saved my life 3 times that I know of.

    I have got the same bike as your Instructor. Mine is the 2014 R1200RT. I am 61 years old and once you get used to the bike, it is really easy to ride, despite it's size and weight. The problem you had with your boot is actually common and I had the same issue when I got it. You simply adjust your movements of you feet and in no time this becomes a none issue. I can see this being a bigger problem if you would use Motorcross boots that have zero give. This version of the BMW RT has another future that will catch you out the 1st time you use the brakes a bit harder, spatially in a corner as the front doesn't dive at all under braking as you would expect it to do. Anyway...what a great video and complements to the instructor.
    I laughed when I saw you trying to get the side stand down...been there...done that. I am 1.89m tall and despite that had the same problem. Again, you have to learn to get around the fairing.

    Wahoo! This series may be about the Dutch moto scene, but it's also a fascinating, in depth look at the Dutch. I love this. The skills you learn from the police training are excellent. Many of us, especially seasoned riders, should be so lucky as to ride in their program. Cheers, cheers Noraly. Oh, and BTW, the Christmas special (lost voice and all) was a really great.

    These two episodes at the Academy are brilliant. I'm an experienced road rider and I learned a lot from the comments from the instructors. These gentlemen are fantastic motorcyclists and teachers, and they've done their service proud. Good on them, and good on you Noraly for being a good student.

    In my teens when started riding, Dad was in charge of the Police Academy. I got to learn from the pros on their off-time. I learned both Car and Motorcycle. It was great training for life. I am happy to see you learning from these people that ride the bikes all day.

    You are so good Noraly! I had my motorcycle cop training years back and it was awesome too. This episode brings back memories. And very instructional and fun. Your videos should be on Netflix! I haven't watch Netflix since I discovered your video blogs. I'm still binging on season 1 and jumping here and there.

    "OFFICER" Itchy Boots, well done. I am an 'old fart' that used to ride a sportster when I was in my 20's. Now, I would be afraid to get on a bike here in the states. Most drivers don't like a bike in traffic and don't know how to behave around them,. Some riders bring it upon themselves. But, I still get the thrill of riding by 'riding' along with you. You show us the joy of riding, and also many locations not many of us would ever be able to see in person. Then , you go and ride with the Dutch police!!! AWESOME. I could tell you were stoked, and it appeared the officers were impressed by you. I watched all your series in order and now restarted and part way thru Patagonia. What a surprise when series 6 popped up. Thank you so muck for what you do1 BE SAFE!!! Remember to keep it between the lines ( when the lines are there) 😂🤣

    I just love your enthusiasm, its how I felt 40 years ago, the instructor was brilliant calm and concise. I did an advanced riders course in the UK a long time ago and it was very much like this and it gave me confidence and respect for the machine I was riding. Enjoy 2 wheels it cant be beat.

    Good evening Internets, what a lovely channel. Stumbled across the channel when i saw this video as i am a bike instructor in the UK teaching novices to ride so was interested in the techniques and instruction. Then i wondered who this bubbly Dutch woman Itchy Boots who loves riding bikes is. I am now working my way through all Noralys video content starting Series 1 in India. Thank you for posting so much good content and looking forward to getting through it during yet another lockdown when we cant ride

    You never fail at keeping our interest! What an experience that had to be for you! The police escort was so cool and what a great instructor. I can’t believe how well you maneuver on a strange bike...you were born to ride! Learning braking techniques on a curve in the rain on a strange bike...my pants would probably need a change lol. Great video, can’t wait for the next! 🏍🇺🇸

    Greetings from Scotland.
    When we instructed on this, we taught as the bike sits up, to push forward on the inner bar (counter steering) and the bike will follow the cornering line.
    Practising slow riding and braking is what keeps you alive.
