Is there a reason to have a copper line instead?

i went to floor shift on my 3 speed manual square body its shifting ok for used parts but the guy who helped kinked my speed o cable out of the way and now it no longer works..so new cable and 90 degree adapter hopefully it will clear the shifter brackets and linkages and show how fast im going

Hey man, thanks for watching. It’s a TH400 transmission. Ya that sucks that got bent. Luckily they are pretty cheap to replace.

I couldn't quite follow the route of the cable. Mine seems too long so I'm thinking I haven't routed it correctly. From the engine compartment, does the cable go initially inside or outside of the frame rail? Thanks.

It connects to the bracket on the firewall then goes straight over the top of the transmission and transfer case.
