So the vibe I got off the deerfox episode was that each deerfox has a guiding/companion light, but Twig's light, rather than being a metaphorical light in the weird astral plane, is literally just Hilda.
It goes off of emotions. Pretty much once twig made the choice to save Hilda the first time, the light representation became Hilda. Twig was never aware of that change until he realized just how much Twig missed Hilda, and this time made the concious choice to go back.
That does make sense to me Twig is litteraly turn her into it so that means they other balls are also humans or WERE so that means that she might have made a mistake by helping Twig in the first place.

They can afford so much violence and death because it's on a streaming platform, hence almost no normal tv censorship. Also the time travelling episode is by far my favorite. Specifically because of the moral at the end, when Tilda says that there's no need to live in the past and they should instead look forward. Also the scene where alternative Tilda and Peter are eaten by the Time Worm is heart breakingly beautiful.
Personally I couldn't get myself to enjoy it cause I was just confused how tf everything worked most of the time. Like what happened to the alternate timeline hilda after the Tildy and Peter got eaten? We saw her while our hilda was running in the street and since they swapped it back to the original timeline and she wasn't there anymore, does that mean she just got eaten off screen? Did she go have the time travel shenanigans herself? When did future hilda happen? Was that the intro? If so then does that mean that alternate hilda didn't die? Even if past present and future hilda weren't part of the timeline anymore if past hilda died wouldn't have present and future hilda disappeared? This is what happens whenever I watch a time travel episode, it just confuses me and makes me not enjoy it.

@Sosnir De Jejejo The English dub that 4kids made censored a lot like death example being the character Molly from season 3. In the original version she continued fighting the Metarex and died. Shadow later made a grave in her honor but in the English dub it is implied that Molly escaped since Shadow hopes that shell be okay alone in space. Her memorial was edited out but the shadow of it was still their as a mistake. And in the last episode of the series, the scene of Shadow placing a pink rose next to Molly's grave was cut as well.

Even though she was pretty mean about it Hilda had a point, the whole of moving to Trollberg was so that Johanna could raise Hilda in a "safer" environment. Break her out of her shell and make some friends her own age yet Johanna isn't practicing what she's preaching. While it's true Johanna was right about Hilda's own faults I'm not ignoring her's either.
To be fair, they were in danger of losing their home already because of attacks by the little men who file paperwork. While in an area where trolls literally walked up to Hilda's doorstep. I can see how Johanna could be concerned. At least in Trolberg, the danger isn't *constantly* able to follow them home.
I like to think Johanna probably had a rough time making friends in her childhood so thats why she wants Hilda to break out her shell before its too late and make friends of her own

I figured when watching the episode that either (1) Twig would come back by the end of the episode, or (2) he'd be gone until the season finale, and I honestly liked that I couldn't tell which it was going to be.
Also, for anyone who is confused about the ending. Trolls are very often associated with the stories and creatures known as “Changlings”, in which Trolls swap their Changling children with those of human infants. It’s a bit of a spin, and these trolls are pretty different, so we’ll see how it develops.
Nah, I'd say it's worth waiting that bit longer for a lovely show you can enjoy in the knowledge that they didn't overwork the animators to make it, especially during a pandemic. If you want to see the plotline resolved sooner, read the comics!

I wish they had committed to Twig going away instead of reversing it at the last second. Not enough kids’ shows have storylines which address coping with loss.

What theories? Troll mother sensed oncoming turmoil, fearing for the safety of her son she made the heart breaking decision to swap her child for Hilda, believing her son would be safe from the coming war there, this either means she believes the humans will win or that the trolls would recognize him if they won so she's just hedging her bets. I don't think she means for any harm to come to Hilda though, I think she intends to protect Hilda as if she were her own, but believes Hilda will be capable enough to survive on her own, unlike her so. That said, al Hilda's mom has to do is attempt boil water in an eggshell and the changling should just run off.

@@randomdude1890 that's unclear, it's possible certain requirements need to be fulfilled, for instance they must first know who they're going to replace and craft an effigy of them, then they must swap it's head with one that represents the troll, additionally it may be that they need to consume a special drink first. Then there are the less clear things, for instance it's possible that the hair on Hilda's doll was actually her hair, this is a common necessity for sympathetic magic, they may also have needed to sleep in the caves first, then there's a possibility that not all trolls can do magic, or that it only works on children/when done for another. Oh and on a side note I think Old Two Head is dead.

It's one of those you blink you miss it moments. Twig was having a dream about a ball of light he couldn't chase > sees similar lights in the sky from his dream > goes away with his parents cause he thought maybe that what his dream meant > what do you know actual ball of light!.........IMMA CHASE IT! > ball of light manifests in the shape of hilda before going poof > dog is like "ah Sh#%@ I made a mistake" > and goes back to Hilda.
I just think it was healtier for them those experiences caused them to get closer and I am sus on Twig I think he's not the little cute thing we think he is
The funniest part is yet to come as known measures for changelings are either, cooking an entire meal in eggshells, pulling a Geralt of Rivia and putting the child into an oven, or straight up unadulterated good ol' child abuse. This is as much a joke that in Norse mythology bad poetry came from Odin's piss after he drank a mead made of the blood of a guy made of spit.
The time travel episode really fucked with me, but for different reasons. On Hilda's second time through (as I'll call Hilda 2, and the Hilda we follow throughout the scene), we see Hilda 1 die pretty quickly and seemingly painlessly. "Well shit, that's pretty traumatic, but such is the life on an adventurer." Hilda 3 (future Hilda, and perhaps quite a ways into the future actually) tries to save Hilda 2, but then herself dies. For multiple reasons that rocks my boat particularly. The death of Hilda 1 felt like any other character's death, even though it was literally the Hilda 2 from before. But Hilda 3's death feels like we just lost the MC entirely, and it feels like that was going to exactly be our Hilda 2 (which isn't not unwrong). Hilda 3 had an entirely different story that we never explored, and never got to see, until the very end. Yet it feels conclusive anyways. Like imagine if Tony Stark died half way through Iron Man, or Rango is shot right at his finale, and then a double of him steps out from saloon. We actually get a bit of development with Hilda 3 in her short time on screen, and of course literally still being the MC, we connect to her instantly. Then she dies. *What the fuck happened between the first timeline of Hilda 2 (before Hilda 3 interrupted, we never saw this on screen but it's implied because of Hilda 3's existence) and when we see Hilda 2 in OUR timeline on the show, on-screen?* Did she meet with the magic lady, and lay everything out to our Hilda 2....now turning Hilda 3 (for us)? Did she KNOW she HAD to die, by necessity? To save her previous version? Also, WHY did she feel the need to go back and and save her own PREVIOUS self? If she stayed and let thing play out after she altered time, she (from her perspective) would be just fine while she unwittingly set the time worm on her previous timeline versions, but she'd be untouched. But *something* fucked up, something we don't know about, but it was enough to make Hilda 3 decide to go back and fucking KILL herself just to ensure at least one specific timeline of herself existed, other than the one she just came back from. THIS is what we see on-screen. There's so much that could've happened, and something BIG happened (or DID happen to Hilda 3) that change was necessary enough to die for....or she just randomly had a moral reckoning, but I doubt that alone would be enough to kill herself over. Someone could honestly make a mini-story on the POV of Hilda 3, and the steps and events that lead her to go back. Also, Hilda 3 clearly had other plans on how to fix the timelines (in their own way, or at least ge things back on a track), as she was ignoring the magazine. So...what was Hilda 3's plan there? And also, she dies horribly? Hilda 3 is on a mission to save Hilda 2, and she never even sees it to the end herself. That's a punch to the feels. As if watching Hilda 1, the version of Hilda we just followed for the first time through those events not FIVE minutes earlier just get swallowed by a worm wasn't unsettling already. And then AFTER Hilda 3 gets swallowed by the worm, we can clearly hear her scream from inside the thing's mouth. *She's fucking still alive!* Do these swallowed alternate timeline versions of people not just vanish? Fade away? Or pulled apart by the atom? Or are they consciously sent into a void of non-existence while they're still alive, in their own way? That is some uncomfortable shit to think about, especially when happening to the MC. Watching Hilda 3 die felt just or more uncomfortable that Hilda just straight up dying in the middle of the show, no take-backsies, no warning, and no time travel even. Just dying. It's just....."what the fuck happened?" And another unsettling thing is that with all the timelines, it feels like absolutely *completely* dumb luck that our cameras and the show followed _juuuuust_ the right timeline for everything to come out okay. Our timeline barely avoided the track to death, we could've followed Hilda 1 on her second timeline (and Hilda is eaten shortly after going back in time, end of story) or we could've followed Hilda 3 (which is who the FUCK knows what happened, but it means Hilda 1 and 2 went through their course of events without Hilda 3 coming back and messing with shit). *In short, future Hilda's death is fucking heart wrenching, like watching the main MAIN **_MAIN_** character die* And I probably won't get over it for some time. You fucked up Hilda, all versions of you, Hilda. Holy shit.
I also noticed that Hilda 3 had the same oufit as Hilda in the last episode of season 2, I was scared the whole episode that that was the episode when she would go back into time, adding to the fact that when it was ending a rock structure giant worm that looked like the one we saw in the time travel episode and that the show really seems to sums everything up, as you said if it was another time line she would have disappeared but she didn’t, so that must have a meaning, adding as foreshadowing, but at least this confirms hilda will come back to her usual self and not being a troll, but there is the plot hole that the magazines were destroyed, is there another way to go back in time ?

I really love the heart that went into The Deerfox episode. As someone who has lost a beloved pet, I cried so hard I gave myself a headache. The visuals and the music were so amazing too! That just might be my favorite episode
Knowing a little Norse mythology, I thought it was funny when it was revealed that the swamp creature's name was Sigurd and the amulet was his. For context, Sigurd is a Norse "hero" who slayed a dragon, then cheated on his wife by sleeping with his brother's wife while disguised as his brother (I think that's what happened). There's a bit more to it, but that's the short version.
The fact that you were fully aware of the Alfur shipping and made so many references to it completely killed me -if you told me two years ago that tiny invisible elf Alfur was going to be the most shipped character of Hilda I really wouldn't have believed you-

@Sosnir De Jejejo The English dub that 4kids made censored a lot like death example being the character Molly from season 3.
In the original version she continued fighting the Metarex and died. Shadow later made a grave in her honor but in the English dub it is implied that Molly escaped since Shadow hopes that shell be okay alone in space.
Her memorial was edited out but the shadow of it was still their as a mistake. And in the last episode of the series, the scene of Shadow placing a pink rose next to Molly's grave was cut as well.

Even though she was pretty mean about it Hilda had a point, the whole of moving to Trollberg was so that Johanna could raise Hilda in a "safer" environment. Break her out of her shell and make some friends her own age yet Johanna isn't practicing what she's preaching. While it's true Johanna was right about Hilda's own faults I'm not ignoring her's either.
To be fair, they were in danger of losing their home already because of attacks by the little men who file paperwork. While in an area where trolls literally walked up to Hilda's doorstep. I can see how Johanna could be concerned. At least in Trolberg, the danger isn't *constantly* able to follow them home.
I like to think Johanna probably had a rough time making friends in her childhood so thats why she wants Hilda to break out her shell before its too late and make friends of her own

They have the same interests and natural know how about nature. I'm putting money down right now that the Guard is Hilda's dad, the parents probably divorced back in the day and Joanna moved away.
But Hilda's ancestors lived in the house for years, so the guard had to move.

Not enough kids’ shows have storylines which address coping with loss.
To be fair I think Twig is going to play a big part in returning Hilda, though they could've worked that in later.
At the same time, with everything else that happens, we need the cute.
I give them props for almost making us think he wasn’t going to return, that did make me cry. Though it would be interesting to think what if Twig stayed with his parents? Would he return later in the next season or two *or* never again?

What theories? Troll mother sensed oncoming turmoil, fearing for the safety of her son she made the heart breaking decision to swap her child for Hilda, believing her son would be safe from the coming war there, this either means she believes the humans will win or that the trolls would recognize him if they won so she's just hedging her bets. I don't think she means for any harm to come to Hilda though, I think she intends to protect Hilda as if she were her own, but believes Hilda will be capable enough to survive on her own, unlike her so.
That said, al Hilda's mom has to do is attempt boil water in an eggshell and the changling should just run off.

@@randomdude1890 that's unclear, it's possible certain requirements need to be fulfilled, for instance they must first know who they're going to replace and craft an effigy of them, then they must swap it's head with one that represents the troll, additionally it may be that they need to consume a special drink first.
Then there are the less clear things, for instance it's possible that the hair on Hilda's doll was actually her hair, this is a common necessity for sympathetic magic, they may also have needed to sleep in the caves first, then there's a possibility that not all trolls can do magic, or that it only works on children/when done for another.
Oh and on a side note I think Old Two Head is dead.

The time travel episode really fucked with me, but for different reasons. On Hilda's second time through (as I'll call Hilda 2, and the Hilda we follow throughout the scene), we see Hilda 1 die pretty quickly and seemingly painlessly. "Well shit, that's pretty traumatic, but such is the life on an adventurer."
Hilda 3 (future Hilda, and perhaps quite a ways into the future actually) tries to save Hilda 2, but then herself dies. For multiple reasons that rocks my boat particularly. The death of Hilda 1 felt like any other character's death, even though it was literally the Hilda 2 from before. But Hilda 3's death feels like we just lost the MC entirely, and it feels like that was going to exactly be our Hilda 2 (which isn't not unwrong). Hilda 3 had an entirely different story that we never explored, and never got to see, until the very end. Yet it feels conclusive anyways. Like imagine if Tony Stark died half way through Iron Man, or Rango is shot right at his finale, and then a double of him steps out from saloon. We actually get a bit of development with Hilda 3 in her short time on screen, and of course literally still being the MC, we connect to her instantly. Then she dies. *What the fuck happened between the first timeline of Hilda 2 (before Hilda 3 interrupted, we never saw this on screen but it's implied because of Hilda 3's existence) and when we see Hilda 2 in OUR timeline on the show, on-screen?* Did she meet with the magic lady, and lay everything out to our Hilda 2....now turning Hilda 3 (for us)? Did she KNOW she HAD to die, by necessity? To save her previous version? Also, WHY did she feel the need to go back and and save her own PREVIOUS self? If she stayed and let thing play out after she altered time, she (from her perspective) would be just fine while she unwittingly set the time worm on her previous timeline versions, but she'd be untouched. But *something* fucked up, something we don't know about, but it was enough to make Hilda 3 decide to go back and fucking KILL herself just to ensure at least one specific timeline of herself existed, other than the one she just came back from. THIS is what we see on-screen. There's so much that could've happened, and something BIG happened (or DID happen to Hilda 3) that change was necessary enough to die for....or she just randomly had a moral reckoning, but I doubt that alone would be enough to kill herself over.
Someone could honestly make a mini-story on the POV of Hilda 3, and the steps and events that lead her to go back.
Also, Hilda 3 clearly had other plans on how to fix the timelines (in their own way, or at least ge things back on a track), as she was ignoring the magazine. So...what was Hilda 3's plan there?
And also, she dies horribly? Hilda 3 is on a mission to save Hilda 2, and she never even sees it to the end herself. That's a punch to the feels. As if watching Hilda 1, the version of Hilda we just followed for the first time through those events not FIVE minutes earlier just get swallowed by a worm wasn't unsettling already. And then AFTER Hilda 3 gets swallowed by the worm, we can clearly hear her scream from inside the thing's mouth. *She's fucking still alive!* Do these swallowed alternate timeline versions of people not just vanish? Fade away? Or pulled apart by the atom? Or are they consciously sent into a void of non-existence while they're still alive, in their own way? That is some uncomfortable shit to think about, especially when happening to the MC.
Watching Hilda 3 die felt just or more uncomfortable that Hilda just straight up dying in the middle of the show, no take-backsies, no warning, and no time travel even. Just dying. It's just....."what the fuck happened?"
And another unsettling thing is that with all the timelines, it feels like absolutely *completely* dumb luck that our cameras and the show followed _juuuuust_ the right timeline for everything to come out okay. Our timeline barely avoided the track to death, we could've followed Hilda 1 on her second timeline (and Hilda is eaten shortly after going back in time, end of story) or we could've followed Hilda 3 (which is who the FUCK knows what happened, but it means Hilda 1 and 2 went through their course of events without Hilda 3 coming back and messing with shit).
*In short, future Hilda's death is fucking heart wrenching, like watching the main MAIN **_MAIN_** character die*
And I probably won't get over it for some time.

I also noticed that Hilda 3 had the same oufit as Hilda in the last episode of season 2, I was scared the whole episode that that was the episode when she would go back into time, adding to the fact that when it was ending a rock structure giant worm that looked like the one we saw in the time travel episode and that the show really seems to sums everything up, as you said if it was another time line she would have disappeared but she didn’t, so that must have a meaning, adding as foreshadowing, but at least this confirms hilda will come back to her usual self and not being a troll, but there is the plot hole that the magazines were destroyed, is there another way to go back in time ?
Too bad I think the worst is about to come to the Hilda that survived

Knowing a little Norse mythology, I thought it was funny when it was revealed that the swamp creature's name was Sigurd and the amulet was his. For context, Sigurd is a Norse "hero" who slayed a dragon, then cheated on his wife by sleeping with his brother's wife while disguised as his brother (I think that's what happened). There's a bit more to it, but that's the short version.
