For real though, in most cartoons there’s normally an episode you skip because it’s somewhat boring or unappealing, but in Hilda, there really is no bad episode.
I found Hilda while randomly looking for something to watch on Netflix. I like animated shows and Hilda's artstyle was nice, so I watched it. I'm very I happy that I did. The story is touching and extremely enjoyable. After the first season, it already became my favourite show.
9:22 they even made it so that some of the trolls that the characters encounter are the same trolls from other episodes, like obviously the 2 headed troll but also the troll that strapped a camera to his arm, and the other ones that have specific shapes, and whenever i see familiar characters i always have a slight excited feeling like "hey thats that thing from the other episode!"
Hilda, despite being a kid's show, has its fanbase mostly made of adults because only they can really appreciate how wonderful this show is. As a child, I have watched the entirety of Hilda in less than a week. I think it deserves a third season, and there are plenty of sad moments throughout the series. But that is what I enjoyed the most: a deeper meaning hidden in a place you'd never expect to find it.
I love the fact that in season 3 In the opening, Hilda's mom hrabs her hand and jumps on a Wof, which also kinda show their relationship during the season In episode 8, you can see the old man and woman holding hands, meaning it's never too late for them :)
Hilda is amazing. It's my second favourite show of all time, and it has a special place in my heart. Usually I like to give longer messages expressing how I feel when it comes to great videos about the things I love, but I don't have many words. It's just comforting, comforting in a period of uncertainty and depression for me. It really helped in ways I cannot express, and it always reminds me that despite how complicated my relationship is with my mother, we still will always love each other.
Since there are by far not enough comments here I'll say it. Your videos are way better than the numbers indicate and you really deserve more attention. Also, i love Hilda and binged it in 2 days
You captured all of my thoughts on hilda so well and even made me even realize a few more things. Hilda is so good and I love the show so much. This show has made me cry and has also made me feel so much joy.
The Deerfox episode was that one episode that really emotionally got me. I don't even know how. I watch stuff often, and almost never as emotional as I was during that episode. Hilda it great, it's some of the best stuff out there.
its my favorite show ever, ive probably watched it 10 times and I never get tired of it. I wish more people knew about it because no one I know irl has watched it which makes me sad
Another thing I love about Hilda is its usage of foreshadowing. Pretty much early on you realize that pretty much everything that happened in an episode that is not yet tied to its main plot is just a Chekhov's gun ready to be fired once the time is up. That way, the show encourages you to seek out the details and remember what happened, giving a richer viewing experience
Episodes that will make me cry on the best days: 1) The tales of ba sing se, atla (part where momo looks for appa and meeting those cats) 2) appa's lost days, atla 3) the deerfox, hilda
Everything about Hilda is just astounding in a way I can't put into words, it really is an incredible show that makes you feel good, and it pulls you into it's gorgeous world.
The first time I ever cried during a show or movie was during the episode "The Deerfox" I seriously thought Twig was going to live away for some of the serious parts of the show.
I was introduced to Hilda by my cousin, who worked on some of the rigging and animation during seasons 1 and 2. And WOW I'm so glad she did! One of my favourite children's shows now 💙
i discovered the show and almost immediately started taking notes because i would really love to run a hilda themed game of dnd and i am very tempted to include elements of it into my upcoming campaign
I like how Hilda just had blue hair and nobody really notices that, but then in the third season they give you more of the family tree, including Hilda’s hair mystery
I know I’m late as hell but wonderful video, dude. You perfectly encapsulated why Hilda is such a modern day classic and an incredible achievement in animation despite it’s small following and lack of support from Netflix. Can’t wait to see more videos like this soon, cheers.
I just discovered this series on Netflix. I really love the art style and color palette they use. They give warm feeling and comfort for some reason. I’m an adult but this is such a healing show
I have seen this show from start to end twice. And now that my mother spends significant time in home I did not lose the chance to start again. I love watching it with someone new.
Please post more content if you can! This was fantastic and I wholeheartedly agree with all of what you said. Hilda is one of my favorite shows and fandoms I have ever watched and tysm for making this
The Johanna point is one of the reasons why I love this show. The drama between them doesn't just go away in one eps. Yes, at the end in each of those drama eps they always learned to understand each other and it seems like their relationship is going back to normal. But ofc just like real life shit always happens, and so there's always a new drama between them with the final eps of S2 being the boiling point of their relationship. My favorite example of this, which is in this video, is the teabag drama. In the previous eps, Hilda was grounded by her mom for always lying and at the end both of them say their sorry and they're chill again. But in the next eps, Hilda is annoyed and mad at her mom for her hypocrisy. That kind of stuff is very realistic because it happens to me before. A lot. And so it feels real. BUT, what makes it even better is that it never felt too dragged out despite the drama between the two of them is fairly common, especially in S2. I believe the biggest reason for that is because none of them are annoying. Just like you said, the two of them are not in the right nor wrong. On one side, Hilda just wanted to play and go on adventures. On the other side, Johanna wanted her daughter to be safe and to never lie to her. It's perfectly valid reasons from both of them. And just like I said before, they're not annoying. If anything, you really want to root for them. To be like they used to be when we saw them for the first time. Everything about this show is just amazing. I'm so glad that I watched it a few weeks after the final season. Although, I do wish that we got more seasons, at least 1 or 3 more. Oh well, better to have an ending than not
I've had youtube recommend this video at me many times and always ended up scrolling past for some reason or other (probably looking at the video time and my own short attention span lol) but having finally watched it, this video really does a wonderful job explaining all the qualities of this show and even digging deeper with some really thoughtful analysis into the extra characters and their roles in the story. Hilda is a show that's not just fun, but amazingly well-executed in just about every area, and it's so refreshing to find a review that acknowledges that for all it's worth. You really did your research for this and this video truly does the show justice, so thanks for making it!!
I don’t think that’s her dad, I feel like Johanna would have told her what he looked like. Instead I think the bell keeper and Johanna will become romantically involved. Or maybe he’ll just be a friend, who knows?
@@markymar The thing is....there is no more material in the comics, all the other stories have been adapted, the only one left is the King in the cave story

Can we all agree that the Artstyle of Hilda's books perhaps inspired shows like Steven Universe, Elinor Wonders Why, Nate is Late, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Mao Mao: Heroes of the Pure Heart, Craig of the Creek, Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese and 50/50 Heroes?
I really appreciate that they draw Hilda far away the way they draw Alfur normally, it gives a sense of scale. Alfur's face never gets more detailed (except when he wears glasses if I'm remembering) but it feels like if we got up close and personal with him he'd look like a normal guy. The show also gives me huge Spirited Away/general ghibli vibes. Such a good show.
Wow. I've been a fan of this show for a long time, but honestly, I've never really delved into or analyzed the meaning of what I've seen. This show is undoubtedly the best animated series I've ever watched, but this analysis really showed me how brilliant Hilda is in implementing all these ideas into such a cozy visual narrative. That really made me. Is it possible that you will make any similar video about the full-length movie and the last season?
I agree that it's okay to be afraid like you said...but these days, I've learned that TRUE courage isn't the absence of fear. It's about you being brave enough to admit something feels too difficult or scary to face head-on
I thought the Deerfox episode was a metaphor of losing a beloved pet. Even though Twig came back, it really felt like that's where the episode was going to go.
