My wife looked 11 until she was 18. She's the most beautiful woman I know.

How are Nicola (Penelope) and Claudia (Eloise) in their thirties, yet convincingly play teenagers?! I must know their secrets!
It's somehow worse than Riverdale, and I don't even care.
Some people just look young. I'm almost thirty-one and people still ask me where I go to highschool. 😂
To be fair, they are not playing teenagers. Season 1 puts Penelope and daphne coming out at 21 (based on the book). So eloise would be 20 in season 1 and 21 this season. and penelope would be 21 and 22.

"Guys who have been sleeping around with every girl they found the whole year"
Finally someone said it. It was killing meee in the show:/
Yeah, that's the romance novel trope. Gross. An eligible man is one who is rich and has done the devil's tango at least 1000 times to prove he's manly and virile, and a worthy woman is beautiful and a virgin.
She shows she loves him by giving it up for him when she wouldn't for any other, and he shows his love for her by giving up all other women because he's found "the one."
Well its based on history and this is what used to happen a lot.
@@Andreamom001 I mean can you even blame that aspect when it's in fact based on the old days, the regency era. Women were pretty much treated as some properties and didn't have any significant privilege. 🤷🏻
Me too. The rake trope makes no sense in 2022!!!
Despite this trope I will absolutely stop reading a book if it had this trope
Ok, I though the "suitable hips for childbearing" was weird too, until someone pointed out to me that Anthony is scared of childbirth after watching his mother go through so much pain with Hyacinth, so he wants to be sure his wife will have a body less likely to experience complications
ppl at that time thought girls with big bottoms n hips have easy childbirth
so that was a criteria in arranged marriage especially by the mothers-in-law's
@@miaomiao1167 people thought that because it's true.
@@sokka780 There are different shaped pelvis that make childbirth easier, but you can't tell just by looking at a woman which kind she has.
Honestly, that makes perfect sense. The Georgian Era people didn't know everything about anatomy and understood that the best pelvic bones for child birth were more common in girls with wider hips. Nothing more, nothing less. And he doesn't want to fall in love in case his future wife dies in childbirth. He's probably of the mindset that no attachment is better because his mother was so broken from losing his father. It's actually rather logical. It, of course, just comes across like Anthony is an ass man to our modern senses
@@bboops23 Almost. He didn't want to fall in love, not because he was scared of his wife dying, but because he thought he was going to die young.

Preach, it's pure escapism, even if nothing is realistic about it.
I think by virtue of being a woman and this being targeted towards me, I've very deliberately given it a wide sidestep. Same for pretty much everything live action aimed at women. Because I'm "NoT lIkE oThEr GiRlS" 🤪 lol. No, but I get tired of guys dunking on things meant for girls no matter how intentionally silly it is, so I've decided to just not involve myself with much of anything targeted towards us. Wait a minute Alex makes a good point, Dora can't be an "explorer" if everywhere she goes is already mapped out.
Nah, since the map is magical, it's safe to assume that the map expands based on where Dora wants to go, making her a (telepathic) explorer
Exactly i thought am i the only one who noticed that 🤣 gosh
😩🤣🤣
Well that's not exactly true. She can't be a discoverer but she can definitely be an explorer. Exploring means to examine or investigate or to travel to or into (unfamiliar or unknown regions). You can explore a city you have never been in for example because its unfamiliar to you. It doesn't need to be unknown.
Funny, because I explored NYC when I went, although a map of it exists.
I feel like Eloise's character could soar a lot more if the writers didnt try to be so on the nose with her feminist agenda. Or rather, if they portrayed her as a feminist properly. The way they wrote her lines make her seem like a stereotype rather than giving that dynamic a bit of depth. Regardless, Eloise is still my favorite. And the final scene where she discovers and confronts Penelope's betrayal is great.
I mean I think they have done a good job so far of writing someone who is immature still. Yeah she is starting to have some ideas around feminism, but they are rough and unformed due to her age and experience level. If they manage to have her mature into more wisdom that would fix a lot of issues with her and could actually be a pretty good character arc.
@@MissCaraMint I see what you're saying here, maybe I just disagree with the portrayal of what an immature political activist looks like. Again, it looks like theyre playing to a stereotype to me. Because we've seen this character before, in many TV shows, in many age groups and ethnic backgrounds. The way Eloise comes off doesnt feel like it has to do with her age. Does that make sense?
@@dra2521 I guess, but coupled with her so obvious lack of knowledge about how the maid got pregnant last season, she is just so obviously lacking in certain information that I just can’t see her as an attempt at a fully realized mature feminist. She is just too clueless and underinformed about the world. So maybe age isn’t exactly the whole of what I would blame it on either, but rather a mix of age and her very very sheltered upbringing.
@@MissCaraMint idk if youre getting what i'm meaning. And it's possible that there isnt a way to portray a young feminist without the annoying parts of it but what I'm saying is, my qualms with how she's written feel like the writers just took a glance at how society views feminists and threw it together. And it's fine to write a stereotype, it's fine to write an immature character in need of growth. And we can tell that Eloise is approaching that given the most recent season. Still, there's something about her that just bothers the hell out of me in the way she was written.
@@dra2521 I mean I think it’s just the «I’m not like other girls» thing which really is annoying, but also is a real phase girls go through. You know the one where they have a warped idea of how other girls are because scociety has forsefed them this idea that girls are two dimentional beings, but they themselvs know that they have lots of different interests so they end up commin tot he logical conclusion that they are special and unique for having half a brain. THey havent quite realized that other women do in fact have a brain as well yet. But seriously the «I’m not like other girls trope is very overused and does border on annoying». I’m being optimistic that this show doesnt fall into the trapof keeping her like that.
Wait, that actually makes sense. If everywhere that she goes has a map, then Dora can't be an explorer. HOW MANY OTHER LIES HAVE I BEEN TOLD BY THE COUNCIL!?
According to google, an explorer is someone who explores an unfamiliar area. If you define unfamiliar as only pertaining to your own experiences then an area with a map can still be explored by yourself. Of course, you could also define unfamiliar area to mean a place nobody is familiar with or you could decide a map counts as familiarity which would alter your opinion on the matter.
tl:dr
its pretty much up to you to decide if she is an explorer or not
The way I wave this away is by thinking: The map is Map, a talking map! He's magic! Just because he's the guy you need to know when you got a place to go--doesn't mean he's gone there himself. He's, like, Dora's psychic sidekick!
My entire world view was shattered
You can totally explore places that already have maps. The difference between having a map of a place and knowledge of a place is all about context - you can have a Google map of a city so you can't get lost, but that's not going to tell you about the antique store that has a complete set of rose china that looks exactly like your late grandmother's that your mom has spent twenty years looking for or that awesome little bistro sandwiched between the Apple Store and Goodwill that serves those amazing little cucumber sandwiches or to avoid that one alley between the Metro Store and the butcher shop because of all the feral cats. You still need to explore the city a bit to learn about all of those little nuances that give any city its personality.
maybe she's also a cartographer
I was so mad that Edwina really did seem to have feelings for Anthony-- in the books she doesn't give two pounds about him and is genuinely happy when he and Kate get together as LITERALLY all the interactions she had with him was purely so Kate and Anthony could hang out. She was like you're gross but Kate would love you.
YES!! I felt the same! And Edwina was played so well! She was like Bambi looking for love and I was so mad at this season for betraying her way worse than books. Le sigh.
...I didn't know that was how the books were. Goodness, my heart breaks for her show version even MORE after knowing that...
@@musical-chick-134 YES and she had this amazing amazing love interest named Matthew Bagwell who was an academic and a scholar who she just fell head over heels for. he didn't see her as the diamond of the season but just as Edwina the bookish girl who loves learning. and it HURT when she didn't get that

What bugs me about this season is that they changed Edwina’s character. In the books, she was not interested in Anthony. She had feelings for a man named Matthew Bagwell, who was a scholar and academic. I just think that having Edwina in love with Anthony was unnecessary angst. If Matthew was added, it could have kept the relationship between the sisters from fracturing.
It's weird how people forgot the whole essence of a Regency era romance is secret glances and hand touch. They had a lot of it this season and tried to add more story than just steamy stuff, as criticized by the people in the last season. You can't make everyone happy, I guess. But this season was different and i enjoyed it, I was more into the story though as it differed from the book!
I meen, bigger the hips, wider the dress so they don't flare out cuz it too tight on the part.
If one more couple has sex in a garden and then rushes to get married Imma be mad. Political maneuverings are interesting and an occasional secret rendezvous is hot, but Bridgerton is definitely doing too much actual hookup.
Never thought I'd like the Featheringtons most because they actually make MOVES.
I liked this season more that the previous one..the chemistry between Kate and Anthony was very good. And their attraction was very nuanced and sexy, not semi porn0.

The muttonchops joke is actually true. In the early 1800s, a man's face would be more clean when they were more serious about finding a wife. So when this seasons plot was him finding a wife, they intentionally did that because it was historically accurate. Good catch

If it weren’t for Kate Sharma, I wouldn’t have any reason to watch S2 at all. She’s practically the cherry on top. I’m personally not a huge fan of slow pacing in shows, and I also feel like there are some scenes that kinda dragged on, which is a bit of a bummer for me. I feel like this particular season paid more attention to other subplots/character arks rather than the actual PLOT of this season. It makes it seem like Eloise and Penelope are the main couple or something, when in actuality, they’re not. Anyway, I still have hope for S3. Hopefully we get to see more Kathony moments by the time that comes out.
Remember it's based on the books though so they have to get it as close as possible to that plot
The side plots are the *only* reason I’m watching S2. I couldn’t care less about Kate or Anthony, I’m purely here for Eloise and Pen and literally every other character
They probably did this cuz they want to incorporate every single story in like 3-4 seasons. I read all the books (8 books and one “what happened in the happy ever after?”), and trust me there’s a LOT they actually had to skip cuz it would’ve taken even longer. All the subplots actually have a whole book on their own so imagine what they had to do to squeeze them into one season.
oh good i wasn’t the only one who thought Eloise and Pen would get together

I found season 2 to be boring compared to the first, it lacked stupid drama S1 had. I had bigger hopes with Anthony and Eloise being the main characters.
Then hearing about how it went in the book I wonder why they changed it because it would have made S2 a lot better imo.

I sometimes watch his videos so that I can figure out what to watch
Ditto, I mostly watch movies or TV shows through his videos now!
I start Riverdale at Season 2 because of this guy and I have never looked back. It's all over for me now.
no, youre not XD I even considered watching fifty shades of grey bc of his recap, even tho I know i will hate it.. Thats alex' magic XD
I just finished the season, and came back to see if we had the same criticism!
11:05 i'm so so sorry but my reaction was literally 'oh, oh dear'
In Brittish accent?
HELL YA! THE STORYTIMES ARE BACK!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉😄😄😄 loved hearing about your before and after story😂👌🏼 it’s so common for people to change after high school, I’m surprised so many people were questioning you!!!
“Thanks for putting a band-aid on a severed limb, mom.”
Ok honestly I kinda like that expression and I may or may not start using it irl
Elouise being sick of life is such a mood
Kate and Eloise are gorgeous women. I was thoroughly captivated by their performances. I read the book series years ago and was really excited to learn about thisTV series. They went a bit off the rails with the storylines but it's still very enjoyable. I hope Julia Quinn is just as happy with the finished product.
I love how honest and real you are in sharing you high school stories! You’re one of my fave TH-camrs!
dont ever feel bad bout the way you look if you never put yourself out there you'll never know if someone out there is right for you
"In my head, I don't even see myself looking like this now"
Prime jokes in this one. Both on the show and from Alex on himself. Still not watching Bridgerton, like I see you trying to Pride and Prejudice your way into my heart. Nope. Nope. Not gonna happen.
I finished entire season 2 in just one night and boy it was worth it 😍
I honestly want more Francesca content. They kinda just forgot she existed in season 1 and then gave her nothing in season 2. Justice for Francesca.
She's been recast for season 3, presumably to play a bigger role.
...Googling Francesca.
Ah. Well as someone who hasn't read the books this plot didn't seem to have anything to do with her, I'm fine with a random sibling being a side character.
"Bridgerton is the dumbest show, but I can't stop watching it..." is so accurate it heals the soul to know I'm not alone. lol
I unabashedly enjoy this show. Like, it SHOULD be a guilty pleasure, but eff it. It’s fun and pretty, has some good writing and acting, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Thank you for bringing back the outtro! Before it felt like things ended abruptly
I missed the Storytime wrap-up, thank you for bringing it back :)
"dearest gentle readers, did you miss me?" and kristen bell saying "heyy upper-east siders, did you miss me?" have the EXACT same vibe. its not the just what they're saying but the smugly sweet tone too.
This season made me absolutely feral. It’s a shame it wasn’t at least 2 episodes longer. The ending felt like there was a lot missing
Alex: *talking about how he looks like now* "This is the culmination of years of efforts."
Me *drinking my water* "So relatable man, I totally get you."
Gotta respect a good glow up. The most attractive adults are people who were losers in school. Yes I include myself. :)
I'm so glad you brought back the ending where you speak 'bout your life, this one killed me! 🤣
You def coming back for a 3rd season, right? Its fun hearing your introspective on a show like this, it may be a little different then others you might like but its awesome youd go outta your way to do it! Good funny stuff!! 😂
me watching bridgerton: WHY ARE SOME DRESSES HISTORICALLY ACCURATE AND SOME NOT!? WHYYYYY JUST GIVE ME THE ACCURACY I NEED
Because it is modern escapism meant to capitalize off of a romantic view of this era
bridgerton never aimed at being historically accurate
@@queerlibtardhippie9357 i know but it still bugs me 😂
@@nadaandroid97 yeah i know but it still bothers me
like wtf is that purple dress Eloise is wearing 😭
i love ur critics on shows but ngl i’m obsessed with bridgerton
I, too, realized this season that the series is named Bridgerton because it focuses on the their family 😅
Hey Alex I just want to point out that Eloise is not the focus of this season (although I assumed you kinda knew that) Each season is based off of each book of the 8 books that each focus on one siblings love story. So this season is focused on Anthony’s. I wouldn’t say that Eloise isn’t a big focus this season, it’s just not that the whole season is about her debut because in all honesty it doesn’t come up as much.
Actually, "suitable hips" is probably a reference to how women with "good hips" were supposed to be better when it comes to pregnancy, or something like that.
At least, I think, never watched this show.
I haven't either but historically you are correct, good hips were covertted.

That tinder profile description and reading was the funniest shit I've seen in a while
Thank you 😂😂👏👏
Don't worry Alex I'm the loser in my high school to that wants to date any guy that looks at me. I know your pain. But tbh you look a lot better than I do.
not too late to wait for your final glow up too xD
And i was the same.. fell for every guy who was once nice to me. buuut i think i kinda got my glowup now... well.. i hope xD
its a shame that society made teenagers think they have to look like celebrities in middle school and highschool. you're going though purberty, you're gonna have acne and things you don't like. you won't look like you just hopped off the Victoria Secret Angels runway and thats okay. Growing up is the time for evolving.
Jesus loves you
@@unofficialbeautyqueen6624 💯 this. I love your comment
@@unofficialbeautyqueen6624 that's true. But teenagers "having to look like celebrities" is always gonna be a thing. For years, even now that I be graduating high school soon. I was always told that you had to be thin to be pretty and that you had to wear makeup to be pretty. But I'm not thin luckily I'm not 600 pounds and I'm more cubby than anything but because of that stigma of body weight. Everyone made me feel ugly and not pretty at all. I also really dislike makeup not my thang but every person I see around me wears it so I feel like I'm force to wear it. I don't but I feel the pressure.
The glow up from teenager to adult is amazing 😵🤯. I honestly never seen your face and let me tell you I almost didn't believe that was you until you showed your younger self I can definitly tell the hardwork and dedication that made you you as an adult.
i liked this season so much 😩 well at least the relationship between kate and anthony. like their chemistry was out of this world. i just began to skip everything that had to do with the other characters at some point cause there was just too much of them and not enough of the MAIN CHARACTERS (something the writers seemed to have forgotten ...). but it was so much better than the first season i'm sorry argue with the wall i'm right 🤷🏼♀️
No no I completely agree. Like every time it cut to the plot about the Featheringtons and their cousin or whatever I was like ughhhhhhhhhh
it was soooo much better then the first one, even the chemistry of the main couple.
I agree it was much better than season 1 but i did enjoy the other plots as well
I dont think you need to blame the writers for your impatience. This show has multiple main characters, so it makes sense to follow each of them
@@fuzzyapple my impatience ? the first season had the same amount of characters yet there was still way more of daphne and simon's story. in this season i'm pretty sure the featheringtons had almost as much screen time as the main couple. it's still anthony and kate's season, they're the main characters this season, that's the whole concept of the show. it's adapted from THEIR book where they had way more important moments together, that the writers cut to make way to more scenes about characters we didn't care about. like we only got 2 minutes of their married life when it's such a big part of the original book...
I feel like the "neo-puberty" of approaching 30 is where the "finished product" image really kicks in, like you mentioned
The teenhood puberty is more like a phase juxtaposed to the stress of high school, which takes its toll
Nonetheless, thanks for sharing and motivating from that bit at the end
I’d die for it if you made a video about Derry Girls! This is absolutely unrivaled, the funniest show I’ve ever seen. It’s hard not to love the characters and the series is hard to compare, it has a very unique character, each episode is a masterpiece. In one video you once said that you couldn’t make videos about comedy series because making fun of jokes that are meant to be funny doesn’t make sense, but I think it would work on this show, there’s plenty of room for jokes because the show isn’t just supposed to be funny. I would watch a video like that 100 times just to hear your thoughts or the reactions of the drawn guy. It's a teen show, which plays in Ireland in the '80s, it's on Netflix. (I'm sorry if not anything sounds perfect, because english is not my mothers tongue, but I gave my best.)
This whole description of bridgerton by you is so damn true atleast for me.
The story is not new or unique for that matter rather very predictable and dumb but still can't stop watching 😂
I mean it's okay to like dumb movies and tv shows... Marvel movies are stupid, but people like watching them!
I love season 2 but I wanted Kate to do more. It just felt like he was doing all the work and showed that he cared and all that stuff. Yet all she did was show attitude, kiss him back, and say "I love you" after he said it. I wanted her to do something for him or say some sweet sappy shit to him, but it never really happened.
She is a woman, she can't be forward, in those time.. Also her sister thing is there..
She did calm him down during the bee incident
@@dhritidutta6231 That has nothing to do with it. She also couldn't hunt but she went to do that anyway. She gave everybody a lot of attitude all the time. She could've done more
@@JST03 exactly she had an attitude and always looking to argue, couldn’t stand her character
same. for some reason she lost a lot of her personality once the romance with Anthony began.
I had to pause the video and face palm when Alex realized why Bridgeton is called Bridgeton 😂😂😂
11:00 I actually never believed glow ups like this could happen in your everyday life, you know? I just don't see any of my classmates turning into something like that lol.
You should do derry girls! It’s a great show and the actress who plays Penelope is in it!
I was really hoping during the first season that Eloise was secretly sapphic… That would have been a way more interesting plot line to follow
And she has a secret crush on Penelope! I personally wish she was aro/ace… but they probably can’t do that cause she’s a Bridgerton kid and has to have her season
Not every free thinking woman that rejects society’s expectations in period dramas has to be a lesbian. Not every tom boy character has to be a lesbian. Not every strong female character has to reject femininity as well as be a lesbian. These are such tired tropes.
@@Sam-nz3vj no, not every woman, but is it wrong for me to hope for a sapphic character in this type of genre? Cause guess what, there’s little to none.
@@sirmoriarty8230 but why does it have to be the only feminist in the whole show? Why can't Hyacinth turn out to be gay in her season, for example? Haha
@@erikperhs_ Maybe because Eloise was one of the leads from the start? A minor character being LGBTQ+ is the only rep we get in big things that aren't solely suppose to be *about* LGBTQ+ people.
Quite frankly I don't really care who they would make Sapphic. I very, very highly doubt they would even consider it, but still. The reason I was hoping Eloise was, was because 1. she's a lead character, and 2. she wasn't like 12
Whenever Alex uploads my day improves 100%
I feel like this is gonna be Alex’s new “Riverdale”.
Honestly, Lady Whistledown turning into Jigsaw would be more interesting than the rest of the series.
I just watched these two videos. And now I've already watched the first two episodes of Bridgerton and I FREAKING LOVE IT. WHY?
I prefer the 2nd season over the 1st one. It's not superiour plot wise, just anouther tired trope but the effect is not as cringey as the previous one
At 9:55 I totally understand what Alex is saying. When I was in school, I was covered in acne and looked really weird and hadn't grown into my face yet and now I look a lot different and my complexion has cleared right up I look like how I'm meant to look if that makes sense? So yeah, completely get what Alex is saying here.
You should do “A series of Unfortunate Events” the netflix series. It’s actually really close to the book and everyone loved it.
Idk but Eloise was the only reason why I watched season 2 😅 I was even more invested in her than the MC’s
If someone told me this show had a majority womens writer's room and they wrote for majority female audience, I would beleive them. I EAT THIS SHIT UP. 1st season is still my fave so far.
