The way Marcus, an actual stranger, just waltzed through her window like "So this is your room?" while touching her stuff filled me with a rage I have never known before.
I know I’m supposed to like Ginny because she’s the “protagonist” but I dread the scenes with her. Like she’s so freaking dramatic it hurts my heart. I like watching Georgia and learning about her past tho
@Michelle Galindo Alejandro RIGHT? she lives in a damn mansion and pretty much everything that goes wrong in her life is her own fault, then she gets an attitude with her mom. she’s so annoying and literally has no personality other than an “ugh my life sucks” and good girl gone bad
@@cemeterysweetheart you're so right but again...this is a SHOW, they tried their best to make it realistic because this is actually how many people act in real life... ginny wasn't meant to be perfect and flawless yk
I knew I HATED Ginny when Georgia told her the reason she cut off her family and parents is because she was molested by her stepdad and her mum knew and Ginny came back the next day to say « it’s not okay that you never told me that my grandparents are alive you shouldn’t keep grandparents from their grandchildren » when I tell you I despise this character you have no idea.
LITERALLY. And then she made the connection when the guy told her he thinks her mom killed her stepdad and instead of even taking a second to process that, while it was wrong, she was just trying to protect her daughter from a similar fate, she takes Austin and dips. Like???? What is wrong with you
@@_LifeofDy that was the most stupid thing i've ever seen. She forgot for a second all the trouble Georgia got into to get her where she was, and she just believes her mother is the worst human being just because some random guy tells her, I mean, she is your mother! Show some respect and appreciation to the sacrifices she made and take 5 minutes to REALLY think about the situation... I don't know, I just hate Ginny's Character
@@saramichelperdomobrito6189 don’t get me wrong I don’t like Ginny either and think there were a lot of problems with her character. But like if you found out your mother murdered not one but two people, I feel like you would be kind of freaked out. Like I feel like having fear of her mother and what she’s capable of is a little bit reasonable. Because it’s sometimes hard to think about the reasons for something when in that position. But like I said this is not me trying to defend Ginny because it is not. I just think that the fear or distrust is kind of warranted
@@Ellie-ub7qo Ginny doesn’t know her mom murdered two people. Just the “first husband ”. The PI finds out she’d been married before in the last mins of the last episode. Instead of actually talking to her mom she acts all fake to her and then takes her poor little brother on the run. Stupid ungrateful girl.
@@yuenmienyu yea I mean it’s great that she protected her daughter, but um murder is going to far and risking too much when there’s this thing called 911
That's this show in a nutshell. None of the teenage characters really act like teens, and Ginny is supposed to be 15, though it's obvious that her actress is in her twenties in real life!
The fact that Marcus and Ginny did the devil's tango while they were both 15, Marcus was with another girl, even if they were just casual, and Ginny just went on a date with Hunter and admitted that she liked him is just weird to me
what i dont get is how marcus was a virgin before he did it w/ ginny but was having a casual affair at the time? like what were they doing if not the devil's tango? i'm confused.
The only character I cared about was Austin. I felt so bad for him. Georgia more or less ignores him, he’s being bullied at school and he gets more attention/ love from Zion and the mayor than from his mother or sister. And then Ginny thinks it’s a good idea to runaway with him?!
Ginny is literally THE WORST main character in the history of main characters. First off, after an entire childhood of "sex is the devil", she loses her V card to a guy she met the day before, with whom she has no emotional attachment and fully knowing that he has a girlfriend. That's already a red flag for me. Secondly I get why you would be angry at your mum for keeping secrets, but after finding out the reason behind that, wouldn't you drop the angry act and actually empathise with her, she's your bloody mum! Ginny gets so many opportunities for redemption and she messes them up every.single.time. She's self-centred, fake-mature, shallow, bidimensional and overall a spoiled little brat who can't stop blaming everyone else for her problems. Had to be said. (Georgia is a brilliant character, dark and light together, amazingly grey, absolutely loved her storyline) Also, shout out to the Bakers for being the most amazing and real couple in the show.
Marcus came to Ginny and he climbed to her window and kissed her and told her he couldn’t stop thinking about her . Marcus & Padma just hooked up they weren’t a couple but he couldn’t commit to padma
@happy baby (I know the comment is 3 weeks ago, just thought to express my frustrations, I understand your comment though.) I mean... Would you be mad at your mother for protecting you and distancing you from your step dad that keeps eyeing you up? The problem with ginny is she's too entitled and shallow. I swear, so many people demand so many things just because they have the ability to say it. If you're asking for sympathy towards ginny for being a teenager, then you should even give more sympathy to georgia who became a teen mother and CONTINUED to raise her and give what she could. Georgia had to keep secrets to keep her kids outside of her own problems because as a mother, you only want what's best for your children, and you'll do that no matter the means. So it's incredibly insulting to Georgia that you think she's putting her needs above her kids. Her methods are seductive because it's indeed the quickest and fastest way to get what you need. Looks are part of the real world benefits. Could georgia have been a more responsible teen? Yes. But it didn't happen that way, things didn't work out with her and ginny's real dad. Under their circumstances, she should understand that not everything will go her way and there will be road blocks that she can't crash into. Not to mention, Georgia is always looking out for Ginny but she refuses and then complains that she's being too meddlesome and then continues to say she's neglecting her.
Most teenagers don't rationalize they react based on emotions, you learn these from life experiences and maturity. This story is very telling of the immaturity teenagers hold and may not know it. Yes it's cringe but I think its realistic to what adults have to deal with when raising a teenager
That MANG group was sooo toxic and so superficial. Like max was self absorbed and didn't really care about her friends problems. Abby sold out ginny when she's the one that was shoplifting and pressured Ginny to do the same. She was just a bitch to her the entire season and Nora literally sold her out to her mom about the gun thing.
@@jojoc8229 oh that group disgusting I hate that group like not to mention Max with her "is that like a thing where you don't touch black people's hair" and stuff like that that was out of pocket and out of line and she needs to stay in her Lane Abby is just annoying ginny I don't know how her mom did not whip her like I'm so glad that she left stay gone you're not welcome and I wish she didn't take her brother to be honest Nora I kind of feel like the gun thing was out of pocket max literally needs to get a grip of herself
I'm honestly just tired of forty something year old people writing teen characters as if they knew what they're doing. Like no one climbs through their neighbour's window unless they are a creep. And who the hell says "let's get juicy"????
but ginny did empathize with her mother when she told her about her trauma. but then she got (rightfully) mad at her mom for hooking up with her dad bc she knew it would lead to him leaving her again. georgia is a bad mother that (no matter her intentions) put her needs before her children. she created an unstable environment for them, continuously lies to them, commits crimes (stealing and murder. yes the last one is understandable but, she continues to lie to ginny so, idk what she expects to happen.) and refuses to see the damage she causes. georgia refuses to take accountability for her actions and what led to how her children act. acting like ginny is unjustified in being mad at her mother is weird behavior. she's a literally teenager that never had friends before this. she can be annoying and self centered but, so are her friends & abby is a bitch so idgaf about her. at the end of the show, she ends up becoming her mother.
Worst thing was when Abby was telling her friends that her parents are getting a divorce and is clearly broken and devastated and Ginny goes "not everything is about you". Ommmmgmggmgmgg that makes my blood boil
Yess that's trueee. Like Abby already knew that they had their own problems, that's why she left them alone and didn't tell them for a while. But when she finally tried to ask for help they talked about it for five seconds and that was it
I love Georgie but no one ever talks about how she does everything for Ginny and only half as much for Austin. Austin goes through a lot only for his issues to be dismissed. Kinda shows how parents overestimate depression in teens and underestimate it in kids
I'm tired of people dismissing how much Georgia fails her kids. Her son stabs a kid with a pencil and she is going to say nothing wrong and he doesn't need therapy? That is SABOTAGING your child's development, future, social life everything because you won't be mature enough to face the clear issue and try to get him help. I totally understood why Ginny was mad after that and she felt disgusted that Georgia holds this perfect bday party as a way to gloss over serious issues. She's the one who is actually thinking like a mature adult in the situation and that's exhausting when you have a mom who has arrested development like that.
I didn’t want to hate her because she was suicidal but MAN it is VERY hard not to dislike her. Her friends suck to. Abby was my favorite out of her 3 friends.
@@Hi-ky2wd I don't want to sound bad or anything, but I don't think self harm = being suicidal, there are various reasons for one to self harm, and yeah being suicidal is one of them but not the only one. I'm no expert tho, correct me if I'm wrong
@@nadia-wp4mj no ur completely right. She was doing self-harm but I don't think she was suicidal. Ginny was still a poorly written character nonetheless
Why is no one talking about Ellen and Clint? I thought it was nice to have a deaf character and sign language, it was kind of unique, I liked that part of the show, plus joe was a sweetheart.
“Sometimes I wonder if I’m ever gunna run out of shows to talk about” I’ll say this once again Alex, you will *never* run out of bad shows to talk about
there is that one particular scene where abby is upset and saying how she has had the worst week and ginny makes it all about her, it really aggravates me. It shows how self-centred ginny really is.
I literally remember the scene so vividly cause Abby looked like she was so sad and depressed and told Ginny she's the only friend left for her to talk to and Ginny saw Zion arrive at school and she immediately ran towards him, after hearing Abby telling her she needs a listening ear. It was the biggest WTF moment for me
Georgia was actually a very interesting character but Ginny is just so boring. We should've just gotten a show like Hart of Dixie with Georgia and ditch the high school.
i honeslty dont know why they keep producing shitty shows like these, liek do they never read the reviews, AND WTF KIND OF REACTION WAS IT, LIKE I WOULDVE BEEN LIEK FUCKING GET OUT, PROBABLY WOULDVE PUSHED HIM OFF THE WINDOW
My biggest problem is they never REALLY addressed any of the serious shit in the show including Ginny’s self harm, Abby’s body dysmorphia, several rapes and molestations, a racist teacher, Hunter punching a kid with a concussion in the head, etc. Instead they skip over that for stupid relationship drama and the most unrealistic “oppression olympics” conversation I have ever seen in my entire life
EXACTLY!! thank you for saying that, i very much agree, i am not looking forward to more riverdale-esk shows in the future just because they made a lot of money for a while by promoting shit tropes
and Austin STABBING another child, micro aggressions, and the girls stealing! don’t forget the unhealthy amount of cringe that was forced upon me by hunter😖
exactly. the body dysmorphia thing was really triggering because they never brought it back or developed it. the whole show is really rushed and a mess
I literally hated all the teens and their stories. Georgia and the adults are much cooler and have a better story line than the teens. The teens are kind unbearable lol
right? like in real life when teens fall in love, it takes a longer time than this and it is a lot more complicated than this in a different way (EDIT: this is true at least for me and a quite a few people i know)
I've always found the "climbing through your window uninvited" trope so bizarre. Like you're just minding your own business in your room (Which could be changing or something but the people climbing through the window never account for that???) an suddenly boom behind you is some random chad from school that you made romantic eye contact with once and there's like 2 seconds of "Wtf are you doing?!" only to cut to some random make out scene where it's totally forgotten that this guy just broke into your house. Seriously that sounds terrifying, if I was a teenage girl in a teen romance movie/tv show I'm bolting those windows and adding metal shutters.
Georgia LITERALLY KILLED, risked her life, well being, AND education for Ginny and still gets treated like garbage... at this point throw the child away🙄🤚🏻
I agree, her actions were selfish at times. However, I think Ginny was more upset about constantly moving away and not having a real childhood like her friends. Well, at least that's what she was upset about at first...
@@quenchedyt ya true, and I sympathized with her at first but then she just became so selfish and childish that I wanted to crawl through my phone and slap her💀💀 especially when she wanted to get “treated like an adult” but acted like a two year old three seconds later🥊😐

Norah: A bitch that does nothing Abby: Has problems that we need to pay more attention to but girl needs to chill sometimes The guys in the friend group: I HATE THEM WITH EVERYTHING I GOT
Completely agree that the show is trying to do too much. Murder/secret life, love triangle, mixed identity crisis etc. It gets overbearing and annoying
I feel like identity crisis is important especially since it's for teenagers and young adults and I kinda like how the mum has a secret life and I want to know more but do agree there is too much going on.
yeah but unpopular opinion, there were some amazing characters in this like joe who deserves an amazing life with milkshake and marcus was actually kinda cool until he met ginny and started simping for her, and goergia is amazing and a queen
The worst part of the show is literally the protagonist, ginny. She has everything going for her, she lives In a literal mansion, she's a perfect student, she's popular and has friends. Somehow, netflix managed to make a tragic protagonist. I never understood why she was so sad. She got in a bad position always by herself and then blamed her mother or her friends.
Exactly, and the fact that she literally never stayed in her place when it came to her mom. I mean like she wanted to be in control of Georgia’s sex life, relationships, past life, and emotions. It’s weird. And the fact that her mom did everything she did just for ginny and she acts like it’s literally the worst thing in the world .
What’s not talked about enough is her StepDad dying affecting her life. I’m not saying it’s justifiecation but people seriously ignore that Kenny dying is pretty frickin traumatizing So no she doesn’t have “everything going for her” Edit: to clarify I meant that just because Kenny died didnt erase the trauma she got from the way he would inappropriately touch her
THIS^^ THIS RIGHT FUDGING HERE, IVE RAGE EXPRESSED THIS TO MAJORITY OF MY TEACHERS,HOW THE FREAK DOES SHE MANAGE TO BE SAD OR MAD DURING SOMETHING THATS SUPPOSED TO MAKE HER HAPPY!?!? Now I do understand it but she's literally always throwing shots at her mom FOR BEING A GOOD MOM!?!?!? HOOOOW?!?! To me her character is self centered, and a hypocrite, she was mad when her mom kept secrets but she had yet to tell her mom about her having sex, or her bestfriend (which to me they became bestfriends hella fast) that she has a thing for her brother, THEN, her cheating on hunter..FOR MARCUS!?!? THE DUDE THAT BASICALLY DISSED YOU THE DAY AFTER HAVING SEX WITH HIM, To me she's a loser, she's not being..Idk her character just doesn't feel right, she's the worst part of the show and I stand by that, and dont get me started on when she ran away, I wanted to jump threw the tv :/ =|
I haven't seen one comment given props to Austin, he was an amazing character who was so relatable, especially in thse seens with Paul and his bully. That kid is going places.
@@_LifeofDy honestly though, I didn't find Georgia toxic. She's not a toxic person (because she genuinely cares about people close to her- evident even in the way she treats her's and Ginny's friends) just someone with a really shitty life who made some bad choices. Not that I mean to justify her murdering people, but anyone would do this shit to protect themselves. For the most part it was the teens I found super toxic (most adults were fine I think.) They were all bratty and thankless, and honestly, Ginny ran away at the end, but I'm sure she would kill if the situation demanded it.
I literally hated the Ginny character..so self obsessed, so disrespectful, this whole series honestly didn't make any sense to me.. The only thing the producers do is put a hot boy and hot scenes ...WORST!!!!!
I don't think Netflix understands that if they show me a protagonist and/or their love interest cheating on their significant other...I will NOT root for them, ever. (I've yet to be cheated on, but my friends all have, and it BROKE them). Can we stop acting like this shit is inevitable and forgivable?
If Hunter was the one climbing thru Ginny's window and kissing her then everyone would call him a creep. I see so many ppl bash Hunter's looks but excuse what Marcus does because he's good-looking...
@@b.1onded Ikr. People need to realise that if they are saying a character isn't good-looking it can also affect the actor without them realising. This really depends on the character though but ik that so many actors that don't have to drastically change themselves for their character are called ugly
*If Marcus wasn't conventionally attractive, literally everything he does would be considered gross/creepy* (this is a repost b/c I think my original comment got deleted)

the “oppression olympics” scene was so out of pocket, like not only did the show barely touch on the fact that Ginny is half black, it also used this scene as a plot point for Ginny and Hunter to stop talking to each other....i was so thrown off by it and they could’ve at least follow up with it but no, all Ginny and Hunter did was apologize to each other and move on. And it’s the fact that the actors wrote it that pissed me off more, like they laid out their experiences as being mixed yet the show only used it as bait.
The fact that ginny initiated that altercation because she did the job wrong and acused him of being more close to white whiteout thinking of his struggles was just dumb and infuriating so when he slaped back I liked it bcz why would she even say " oh I talk more korean then you do I'm more Taiwanese then you 😐" that's stupid
here's another shitty part. they said they based it ON THEIR CONVERSATIONS. if that's the case, i feel sorry for them, cuz.. yikes. we already have the bisexuals versus gays and lesbians discourse, i just hope it doesn't become popularized among other minorities as well

I loved Ginny’s dad, it’s so sad how she always takes his side and not Georgia’s just because of her past and favors him more. When Georgia has done so much for her
As much as I enjoyed and didn’t enjoy the show at the same time I feel like this is what 57 year old men think teenagers today do, when really all we do is maybe go out with friends once in a while, do homework, eat, fantasize about celebrities or people who don’t exist, and sleep.
DUHH this is a SHOW obviously it has to have something in it and anyways georgia’s character was the best and liked ginny’s character too but she was a brat sometimes

I actually was a bit addicted to it because it was dumb and I rly didn’t care what happened lmaoo, it was just something to play in the background when I’d draw lol

That "who's more oppressed" scene was the dumbest thing ever and made me not want to watch this show and this video just further validates my worries. Like I swear I can write this shit
this show had ALOT of potential. Georgia's storyline was very interesting and I was actually really surprised by a lot of it. Marcus would've been called creepy if he wasn't attractive. I wanted to hold and protect Austin at all costs. Learning about Abby's body image issues really surprised me and added an interesting side to her character. It was also hard seeing her go through her parent's divorce and none of her friends being there for her. Ginny knew about it but didn't say anything or even offer emotional support which sucked. The whole shoplifting thing was kind of pointless because it didn't even cause a divide in their friendship. Max's character wasn't my favorite just because she was written to be SO immature which I get, they're only 15/16 in the show but still. I wish we had learned more about Marcus' mental health and how his friend's death affected it.
I hope(if there is even a season 2) there will be a LOT of character development to make up for the shitty characters in the first season. I agree, I feel like Netflix did a good job at building the different issues and complexities in some of the characters, but they dropped the ball on it. Legit NONE of them were solved or looked into further, except for Georgia, which is why I think that (mostly) everyone agrees that she is one of the only enjoyable characters.
but she doesn't know about it. u would be mad, if you found out that your mum was lying about everything, even her name. how could ginny know about all that stuff if georgia hid it? moreover, the mother made her daughter work in a cafe. if my parents would do in that way, i did't have any desire to work at all. (only as an advice or in polite way). so ginny helps a lot, she just wants answers. they are both wrong and right at the same time.
@@chemicalscollider Georgia doesn’t owe Ginny any explanation. She doesn’t need to know what her ADULT MOTHER does or doesn’t do. Again, GEORIGIA IS A FUCKING ADULT. IT’S HER LIFE. Ginny doesn’t get to be mad at Georgia because it’s not her life or past. About the cafe, kind of agree. I mean if it was my mother, it probably would’ve been to teach me something, but Georgia did it to “punish” Ginny I guess.
The 2 HUGE differences between Gilmore girls and Georgia & ginny is that Rory actually loves and respects her mom unlike ginny AND Gilmore girls is actually a good show
i really thought when ginny and the investigator talked at the end, ginny had a flashback and picked up the thought that "okay, the reason why my mom put those flowers into kenny's drinks was because she wanted to protect me from being molested by kenny, which was the same thing that happened to her before" but NOPE this gurl all of the sudden really had to leave her mom lol
People handle trauma differently. Georgia might’ve had the strength to kill someone but Ginny felt unsafe with her mom and tired of all the drama and lies. She needed to figure things out on her own. Her identity issues which have been prevalent throughout the show push her to want to know about where she came from and I don’t blame her for that. She’s a stupid teenager yes but empathize with her ffs
For the writers who haven't been back to high school since the ice age, let me give you one piece of advice. No one just shows up to the new kids locker. We usually ignore them in the halls like we ignore everyone else we don't know.
It was his neighbor who was spying on him the day before. This show has a lot of unrealistic moments with lack of common sense, but you managed to pick the one that made sense. Impressive
I object , there was a new girl i knew at my school and literally everybody was awed by her and other students even moved her desk on her first day just so she can sit with them so they can talk to her. We never used lockers but i think they’re similar incidents.
i know everyone is talking about how “bad of a person ginny is” but nobody talks about abby. shit, she deserves way better. nobody acknowledged her at all. she didnt deserve that.
I finished the series and I felt so bad for her. I think she was also suffering from ED from the implications. When she needed her friends to talk about the divorce, Ginny said "not everything is about you." I was like girl shut up because Abby gets the least amount of attention compared to the rest of the friend group. Then slapped each other and talked about Max's sex life. Ginny knew about the divorce beforehand and didn't really check up on her. Abby deserves better!
@@anaortiz3347 I wanted to SLAP Ginny when she said that. GINNY THINKS EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HER AND ABBY IS OVER HERE DYING WITHOUT HER FRIENDS SUPPORT. And she 100% had an ED. So sad. I didn’t like her but I felt bad and would have been a better friend than the ones she had
@@anaortiz3347 , Abby is my favorite character. I relate to her with the ED. I hated Ginny with a passion. It was always about her, or Max’s sex life, and shit. When she finally did tell her friends, Ginny tried to make it about her and Max was like “I had sex”.
(Georgia is a brilliant character, dark and light together, amazingly grey, absolutely loved her storyline)
Also, shout out to the Bakers for being the most amazing and real couple in the show.
Marcus came to Ginny and he climbed to her window and kissed her and told her he couldn’t stop thinking about her . Marcus & Padma just hooked up they weren’t a couple but he couldn’t commit to padma
@happy baby (I know the comment is 3 weeks ago, just thought to express my frustrations, I understand your comment though.)
I mean...
@@azzz7279 Marcus and Padma didn’t hook up bc marcus told ginny he was a virgin before sleeping with her! Just saying :)

It's not nuance it's the typical "oh she's a strong independent girl" trope....only to make her out to be an unlikable troll
but ginny did empathize with her mother when she told her about her trauma. but then she got (rightfully) mad at her mom for hooking up with her dad bc she knew it would lead to him leaving her again. georgia is a bad mother that (no matter her intentions) put her needs before her children. she created an unstable environment for them, continuously lies to them, commits crimes (stealing and murder. yes the last one is understandable but, she continues to lie to ginny so, idk what she expects to happen.) and refuses to see the damage she causes. georgia refuses to take accountability for her actions and what led to how her children act. acting like ginny is unjustified in being mad at her mother is weird behavior. she's a literally teenager that never had friends before this. she can be annoying and self centered but, so are her friends & abby is a bitch so idgaf about her. at the end of the show, she ends up becoming her mother.

I love Georgie but no one ever talks about how she does everything for Ginny and only half as much for Austin. Austin goes through a lot only for his issues to be dismissed.
Kinda shows how parents overestimate depression in teens and underestimate it in kids
true
Isn’t georgie in I.T? Jk

@@DevinaAmritGundlapudi Half the plot is Georgia being a narcissistic and absuing her children. If you cut out the children Georgia is just a narcissist with not much to do.
@@ducklingscap897What does Georgia do that is bad to her children? Well obviously Georgia has done some bad stuff like running a illegal gambling business and shooting a guys hand but she sacrificed so much for Ginny so Ginny could have a better life
the “oppression olympics” scene was so out of pocket, like not only did the show barely touch on the fact that Ginny is half black, it also used this scene as a plot point for Ginny and Hunter to stop talking to each other....i was so thrown off by it and they could’ve at least follow up with it but no, all Ginny and Hunter did was apologize to each other and move on. And it’s the fact that the actors wrote it that pissed me off more, like they laid out their experiences as being mixed yet the show only used it as bait.
Also, it seemed very out of character for both Ginny and Hunter to say those things.
The fact that ginny initiated that altercation because she did the job wrong and acused him of being more close to white whiteout thinking of his struggles was just dumb and infuriating so when he slaped back I liked it bcz why would she even say " oh I talk more korean then you do I'm more Taiwanese then you 😐" that's stupid

this show had ALOT of potential.
I agree, I feel like Netflix did a good job at building the different issues and complexities in some of the characters, but they dropped the ball on it. but she doesn't know about it. u would be mad, if you found out that your mum was lying about everything, even her name. how could ginny know about all that stuff if georgia hid it? moreover, the mother made her daughter work in a cafe. if my parents would do in that way, i did't have any desire to work at all. (only as an advice or in polite way). so ginny helps a lot, she just wants answers. they are both wrong and right at the same time.

People handle trauma differently. Georgia might’ve had the strength to kill someone but Ginny felt unsafe with her mom and tired of all the drama and lies. She needed to figure things out on her own. I finished the series and I felt so bad for her. I think she was also suffering from ED from the implications. When she needed her friends to talk about the divorce, Ginny said "not everything is about you."
