p.s. that Gibson case, for the '61 ES-345, I think I know where I have seen one or two before. They were used for the "leftover" Explorers that were shipped in '63 (Elderly Instruments in the USA had one for a long time), and in modern days Epiphone copied that case for some of their Explorer models. I've also seen one being used for an Epiphone Wilshire, again '63 I think but impossible to be certain it was original to the guitar. Elderly called it a Baldwin/Gibson case. There's probably something about cases on the OK Guitars website, I haven't looked yet myself but that's a source of ES wisdom.
Great upload. Not sure that I agree about guitars with alot of wear being the best instruments though. I reckon there are plenty of great instruments that are in collections that get played carefully and maybe infrequently depending on the size of the collection. Also, there are guitars that get played to bits that were workhorses and all a struggling muso could afford. Just nice to know that a guitar was loved and appreciated.
I should add that this isn’t a hard a fast rule. Just general advice with being wary to question whether there is a reason that a very old instrument hasn’t been played much…. Likewise , if a guitar has been played a lot, it could indicate that it’s a good instrument…. Thanks for watching 😊
I love these updates, but have you thought of contacting Clapton direct? You never know, he might be able to tell you if this was a favourite/unloved piece of kit, Or - I totally understand why - not. But worth a try, surely?
Of course, although Very difficult to get to any Artist. We have tried reaching Claptons amp before with little success. Generally when approaching bigger name Artists they tend to avoid getting involved as what do they gain by saying yay or nay? Plus, especially as time elapses and so much gear going through their hands, will they actually remember. Can’t say I blame them… Thanks for watching 😊

I had a SA 30 in 1981, 15 quid from a house clearance auction , favourite guitar I ever owned , nicked about '84 - never got over it
