My first concert ever was Kiss at the Spectrum in Philly, in 1979. Priest opened. I've been a fan of Kiss for 40+ years. This was hands down the most natural interview I've EVER seen with Paul. (The guitars were kinda cool too) Thanks Mark & Gibson!
Paul in his peak was unmatched, one of the greatest rock front men and guitarists. Add to that songwriter, artist and producer. It's funny I never associate Paul with Gibson Guitars even though he used them in the 70's, in Kiss the fans saw Ace Frehley playing the Les Pauls and maybe the most iconic was his Black Beauty. Ace had a huge influence on so many people to buy a Gibson Guitar even to this day. As we all know the Ace Frehley Custom Gibsons have proven to be the best investments. Ace has had so much of an influence on so many bands in the 80's 90's 2000's. I loved seeing that Ibanez prototype & mirror, to me that's the Paul Stanley style guitar. Pauls double neck Sunburst is a special guitar for the hardcore 70 Kiss fans if you know Hard Luck Woman
Actually Ace’s most iconic was the Cherry Sunburst,as Ace said because at that time Kiss had exploded. It’s a 73 Custom which he still owns! Unfortunately he pawned his original 1959! Another was his 1973 Deluxe Tobacco Burst Deluxe 2 pickup later a 3 pickup! If you watch them live at the Summit in 78 you see both in use 77-80 was their peak.
Thank you for taking us into the KISS Warehouse, and having Paul tell us his incredible story through these beautiful guitars 🙏 As life-long major KISS fans, this is so fascinating!
I have always liked Paul Stanley. This amazing group has such longevity. They bring their sound, have a loyal, large fan base and are mobile. Keep rocking.
@@balke7935I hear you in that. He can get quite nasty. However, as the years go on, he’s been proven right time and time again. Dealing with addiction + ego is not an easy task.
I only got into Kiss last year when I watched their last MSG show on UTube. Paul is amazing. I've been a life long fan of The Who. Paul's stage presence & him on that zip wire!
It always surprises me in these interviews how much these rock icons are mostly "guitar guys" just like all the rest of us. Paul seems to really enjoy his collection and the craftsmanship of his best examples. His recall of details in the interview portions adds a lot to this episode as well.
I must say, this is in my opinion one of if not the best video on this channel! He seems like a great guy, humble, cool guy!! Never thought I would say that about a kiss band member! It’s true if you look back to your youth (I’m 54) and think back and remember how huge this band was!! They were the original showman with crazy good concerts and good catchy rock songs!! Much respect to him and the rest of the band, and great interview! Really, overall…….FANTASTIC INTERVIEW 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
There was nothing better in the seventies than being at a KISS show and seeing those guys come onstage. You knew you were in for a great time. Paul Stanley is such a cool guy. Thanks for the interview.
All I can say is thank you very much for being a big part of me growing up and playing. I played my whole life ever since 1960 and got a good collection.
The most impressive thing about Paul Stanley is that he only has hearing in one ear. Not only could he play and sing at a super high level..but he could produce bands and mix in stereo..all with one ear.
He has a Greenfield by his bed. Those are ultra-custom acoustics that cost at LEAST $20k and have to be ordered years in advance. He's currently taking orders for deliveries for 2027 if that tells you anything! Amazing collection Paul, and thank you again Mark for another fantastic The Collection video!!!
KISS was the gatewway to harder music to sooo many great bands and musicians that came after them . There was rock'n'roll before KISS and Rock'n'Roll after KISS . This man and his three acolytes inspired millions . Great interview and amazing guitars . Thanks !!
Great interview. I have vivid memories of listening to Kiss Alive II on my parents Sear turntable, 8 track, stereo combo with headphone on for a countless number of hours. Even if you’re not a KISS fan, you can’t help but have a ton of respect for this man and his contribution to music.
My fave "Paul guitar" will always be the black Firebird from the cover of KISS Alive. I was lucky to be able to sit down with him and share a pizza in a Chinese restaurant in Terre Haute, Indiana and ask him about its demise. Kisstory.
Paul Stanley. Artist. Songwriter. Musician. Entertainer. Guitarist. Producer. Painter. Mentor. Icon. IS my Spirit Animal. I have seen KISS many times. As well as I got to meet Paul once. Also saw him in Toronto as the Phantom of the Opera. Love who this man is !!~ Great interview.
I'm not a KISS fan. Never have been. I've heard only negative things about Paul over the years...but...I'm really impressed with his humility and respect for history and the instrument. I've changed my mind. Still not going to go out and buy my KISS lunchbox, but I definitely have respect for Paul and the legacy that he's helped build. This was well worth the 90 minutes of my day.
Everybody has their own experiences. I'm pretty there are people who don't like me. Paul seems to me like a gentleman, but I never met the guy, people who have a negative opinion that's between them and Paul.
This man came into the store I was managing in the 1970's in St. Louis. He was very polite and very smart. He tried out a 1959 Les Paul Sunburst. He was very excited about how it sustained unplugged (if I remember correctly he bought it). You could see he wasn't a guitar enthusiast, He truly loved guitars. He was a pleasant surprise.
Paul is just one of those rock legends that I would love to talk to and just absorb his presence and his stories he seems very well spoken and like someone who could talk about guitars all day which I would love to do lol
Awesome interview! I saw my first KISS show in 1979 when I was twelve. I used to play a tennis racket to air-guitar along to my KISS records until I got my first real guitar. Thank you Paul ❤🇨🇦❤️
Hats off to you Mark! The interview is simply fantastic! The musical instrument appreciation you have regardless of brand is so genuine. My musical hero for the last 45 years The Star child Paul Stanley!
Dear Mark, I have so much respect for these episodes. You are so humble and make artists talk. I know they can be shy. This was a special one!!! What a great personality Paul Stanley is. You make him possible to be like this. The guitars are brilliant!! Thanks!! Complements to Gibson giving the possibilities to make this high standard productions. It gives a lot of sympathy to the brand.
RUSH is my favorite band, although, when I was 15, the KISS phase hit me as an earlier fav. I saw them during the Love Gun tour in '77 at the SF Cow Palace. Then two decades later, for the heck of it, I saw them in San Jose during their first reunion tour. At one point, when they elevate over the crowd on the platforms, and with Ace and Paul way up high and directly over my 5th row seat, Paul's sweat drenched my arm when he did a Townsend arm whirl (cool, but also yuk), and then Ace threw his pick out, which dropped right at my feet. The guys in front of me scrambled like crazy searching for it, while I simply bent down and picked it up. It was awesome! Rock on!
Wow that was amazing to see an absolute legend in music proud to own and play guitars that aren't all £500k + vintage guitars. Paul Stanley you are awesome, well done Gibson and Mark Agnesi 🤟🤟
I met Paul when I was a kid, shopping for my first real guitar at Brian Guitars, in New Haven, CT. My guitar teacher also worked there. This was in '77 or '78. I went home with a brand new '78 Gibson Les Paul Custom, black with gold hardware. Paul is one of my favs; writing, performing, playing, frontman, etc. I own several Ibanez PS guitars; my fav hardtail HH guitars.
Thank you, I remember reading the Kiss Alive album it said "Kiss uses Gibson guitars and Pearl drums, they want the best" .... okay I had to have one... I can't believe that story about the first guitar, sane thing happened to me. Thanks again!
I've been rolling my eyes at Paul's onstage persona, banter, and voice for years, but he can be a cool, intellectual, classy individual. Awesome collection. That was fun. I kept hoping though he'd let us hear some of his guitars.
Congratulations on a great interview with Paul and showing us an amazing collection kiss has been my band since 75 seen them every time they've come to Australia they never disappoint they deliver exactly what is said at the start of every show you wanted the best you got the best.....kiss.....💥⚡⚡💥
This was a dream come true for me..! Grew up with KISS and love the collection videos.! Paul Stanley (as huge as he is) often gets overlooked as front man. But he is humble, talented and stood the test of time, ave that is why he is my hero....
The Starchild remains the epitome of a cultural phenomenon! Growing up as a kid in the 70’s and listening to (or watching) KISS was everything! Long live the KISS ARMY!
Thank you, Gibson and Mark, for inviting Paul Stanley. Listening to these stories about these guitars was fun. Thanks Paul, for awesome music after all these years. Bless your hearts.
Wonderful interview! This is my first glimpse into to Paul and I’m pleasantly surprised by his humility and genuine kindness not at all what I was expecting!
Absolutely my favorite so far… not for the guitars as much as his outlook and attitude toward playing and the instruments. A real reverence and sensibility I can really vibe with. Super cool! Thanks for doing this to Paul, Mark, and the whole Gibson crew that makes it happen. Must be a real pain to edit out to get it digestible. I’m sure there’s loads more we’d love to see that was shot.
Thank you Mark. This was the interview and the look inside that we've all been waiting for. Excellent job. Only a fan deserved to get this interview. Thanks a Million
So amazing that Paul shared his instrument legacy with the collective "us." I appreciate that his Gibson and Ibanez instruments were featured. This was and is history in the making.
to be enjoyed by every minute of it. Great memories, stories and opinions... being a fan of Kiss and especially Paul, this documentary is a treasure for me
Absolutely amazing. Been a lifelong KISS fan dating back to the 70s Houston, San Antonio, Dallas concert days. I still get happy chills watching KISS shows like this.
I've been a kiss fan since I found them when I was 4. That was 35 years ago. So obviously as soon as I saw Paul on the collection I was really excited. It absolutely did not disappoint!
I was the proud owner of a Gibson L6 Midnight Special in Burgundy Sparkle made for the TV show of the same name, Paul played the Champagne Sparkle version on the show
Amazing interview Mark!! Paul Stanley is a Rock icon! The first time I saw KISS, it was in January of 1976 at Cobo Arena in Detroit! It was an unforgettable show in a place that would go on to be known as Detroit Rock City!
Paul has such a calm and sincere way of telling his stories. I could easily listen to all 1.5 hours of this. He is one of the greats. I laughed when he said "I sold it to Dave Amato".
Wow! What a fanastic episode this was. At the beginning, I was wondering if the PS10 would come around, and thought, no, this is Gibson tv so they won't . But hats of to you, you did show it. What a wonderful, unbiased episode, in terms of showing non Gibson guitars, so, hats off to you! And btw, what a nice selections of Gibsons Paul has: that 59 that he said had a refinished top, looked absolutely spectacular! And so did the 1994 LP's!! And what about his relic jobs on the cases!! Wow!! And the accoustics, just wonderfull!! I wonder if Mark picked up anything that he thought wow!!! as well, and maybe we will see this as a reissue one day as well? Thank you GTV for making this episode and for Mark asking all the right questions, and a big thank you to Paul for giving us an inside view to your vault and your wonderful instruments!!! Was it too much to ask to have PS play some of them rather than just talk about them? Sorry, just wishful thinking..
One of my hero’s. I remember way back I. The 70’s going to the grocery store in Boise, (Albertsons) and buying Kiss Destroyer (vinyl) with my lawn mowing money. Took me a couple weeks to save up for it! Never looked back since! Great episode!
Weren't those great times? I used to save up $5-6-7, whatever it was and buy an album. Later when I was older, finding a way to buy a concert ticket and concert T-shirt was magic.
In 2010 the band i was in at the time from Lancaster NY opened for Kiss. I was concerned because of the stories. I'm 65 now & I've been a fan since the beginning. To my relief the band crew & manager were phenomenal. Fed us took care of our gear had our own dressing room. Pauls late guitar tech introduced us on stage. They came over & talked to us before they went on. Every one was great. As a bassist got a pic with Gene. Great memories
Every time I see the guys from KISS do anything, I’m transported back to 1976 when I was 12 and saw their faces for the first time! I remember hearing Destroyer on the school’s record player at lunchtime with the kid who got the record!
I'm not the biggest KISS fan but I really enjoy hearing his perspective on things throughout this episode. Really opened my eyes and my mind. Thank you!
I'm so glad I decided to watch every millisecond of this amazing collection &/or interview. What a legendary collection to go along with the legend himself. Anyone ever wonder if Paul reads these comments? How cool would that be?
Someone might have already commented on this. Trogleys sold a Custom Flying V to Paul. Wonder if it is the one shown that Paul had customized. Great video Gibson.
I was impressed by the fantastic collection of guitars 🎸 and acoustic guitars from our beloved Rock Star Paul Stanley. It is a beautiful collection and deserves a prominent place and to be played always, even if just to family and friends. It's really beautiful to see the affection that Paul Stanley ❤️ has for his guitars and the stories behind each one of them. Rose, for example, is beautiful! Just like the one with the double neck like Jimmy Page's.❤❤❤❤😍👏👏👏👀👍😉🎶😎✌️

Lol , unmatched guitarist ? Are you on meth ?
Thank you for taking us into the KISS Warehouse, and having Paul tell us his incredible story through these beautiful guitars 🙏 As life-long major KISS fans, this is so fascinating!
You like ScabKiss too.

I have always liked Paul Stanley. This amazing group has such longevity. They bring their sound, have a loyal, large fan base and are mobile. Keep rocking.
Never fails to impress me just how much of a grounded and decent guy Paul Stanley is. Always strikes me as a really gentle and decent guy 👏🏼
Just listen to him talking about Peter and Ace, and it will change your mind.
@@evangelistbrianbaker I know they have history, I’m sure he has good reason, that’s none of my business.
Even his attitude towards guitars is cool.... not a lot of super expensive vintage stuff.
Well said, this shows in the interview!
@@balke7935I hear you in that. He can get quite nasty. However, as the years go on, he’s been proven right time and time again. Dealing with addiction + ego is not an easy task.
KISS - FEB ‘76 AT THE LA FORUM. 16 YEARS OLD AND MY VERY FIRST CONCERT…MY JAW DROPPED AND I’VE BEEN “HOOKED” ON LIVE MUSIC EVER SINCE…
My first concert I was getting smooshed on the barrier in front of the stage for a Kiss G.A. show in March 1976 - Springfield MA. I was 16 also.
Destroyer Tour, yes?
I’ve never been a KISS fan, but I am now a Paul Stanley fan.
Check out his autobiography. The audio version with him reading it is especially good.
I only got into Kiss last year when I watched their last MSG show on UTube. Paul is amazing. I've been a life long fan of The Who. Paul's stage presence & him on that zip wire!
Paul Stanley originally Stanley eisen..... Highly intelligent... Speaks so fluently and gives tremendous thoughts before answering questions.....
If you can listen to every kiss record from the debut to dynasty and not like them, then there's a problem.
Same. I gained a lot of respect for him after watching.
Life long Kiss fan and hearing this interview with Paul gives me new respect for the legacy.
grow up.
@@MrRidleyDog What does that even mean?
@@jasonbates2687 KISS is a children's band of clowns, not a serious rock band.
@@MrRidleyDog why are you here then mouth breather?
@@MrRidleyDogYet here you are commenting on the video.
You forgot your red nose and horn pal.
All I can say is thank you very much for being a big part of me growing up and playing. I played my whole life ever since 1960 and got a good collection.
Paul Stanley is a legend
The most impressive thing about Paul Stanley is that he only has hearing in one ear. Not only could he play and sing at a super high level..but he could produce bands and mix in stereo..all with one ear.
Agreed
He is a disgusting pervert.
And a pretty cool guy
He's the more down to earth, chill, empathic version - as compared to Gene...
Such a treat to see a couple of guitar guys covering 60 years of electric guitar history
Agnesi did an excellent job with this interview…Paul seemed very comfortable and really opened up to Mark…Well done! 👏
Love to see Paul being so humble and honest about his experience with guitars. I agree 100% that newer guitars can often be better than any oldies.
Love who this man is !!~ Great interview.
are you a fan of ScabKiss
I'm not a KISS fan. Never have been. I've heard only negative things about Paul over the years...but...I'm really impressed with his humility and respect for history and the instrument. I've changed my mind. Still not going to go out and buy my KISS lunchbox, but I definitely have respect for Paul and the legacy that he's helped build. This was well worth the 90 minutes of my day.
All respect bro 🤙
Most of what you’ve heard probably came from Ace. Paul is a gentleman.
Indeed.
Paul has really captured my imagination here..
Everybody has their own experiences. I'm pretty there are people who don't like me. Paul seems to me like a gentleman, but I never met the guy, people who have a negative opinion that's between them and Paul.
I'm a life long Kiss fan, and have been playing Gibsons for 30 years. This was a great interview and I loved seeing Pauls collection.
Finally. Paul is one of the most underrated riff writers in rock. Thanks for giving him a spotlight for his guitars.
❤ What a tale... you'd be a great biography I'll bet 😉
The way Mark looked at Paul when he said he refinished the 59 burst
I can't imagine anyone but Mark conducting these interviews .
@@PT_English John Bollenger would be much better!
Been a KISS fan since I was a wee lad. Having Paul on The Collection was surreal. Seeing Mark in super fan mode was fun too! ✌🏻
Thank you, I remember reading the Kiss Alive album it said "Kiss uses Gibson guitars and Pearl drums, they want the best" .... okay I had to have one... I can't believe that story about the first guitar, sane thing happened to me. Thanks again!
Paul is one of a kind. Thank you Mark and Gibson for this amazing interview 🙌
This is the band that started my love for rock and roll. What a great interview. Thanks Gibsom and thank you paul.
Paul is a real gentleman, articulate, yet softspoken, and loves his Flying v,s,great episode

Excellent interview. That Jim Olsen acoustic is amazing.
Thank you for a lifetime of music.
Incredible episode!! Best episode yet. KISS is the reason I love Rock and why I play guitar.
So amazing that Paul shared his instrument legacy with the collective "us." I appreciate that his Gibson and Ibanez instruments were featured. This was and is history in the making.
to be enjoyed by every minute of it. Great memories, stories and opinions... being a fan of Kiss and especially Paul, this documentary is a treasure for me
Never been a KISS fan but this was a great interview. Paul seems like a great guy.

Fantastic interview! I’ve been a fan for 47 years. I love Paul even more after watching this. Thanks GIBSON!
Check out his autobiography and especially the audio version of him reading it. Very enjoyable. There are many excerpts here on YT.
This was fantastic...Listening to Paul talk about his collection and being able to see and hear the history of his collection was quite entertaining.
Kick @$$! I’m stoked for this one! Paul has been basically a top-tier collector since day one
Back when you could buy an album at a grocery store. Great memories.
@hjmism Lots of them still in CA, UT, AZ, NV, WA, OR, NM, and ID.
@hjmism I am in St. George and we have2! Wish we had a Win-Co.
Thank you!
That Flying V is stunning and possibly the nicest V I’ve ever seen, make a signature model and I’m buying one!
I'm so glad I decided to watch every millisecond of this amazing collection &/or interview. What a legendary collection to go along with the legend himself. Anyone ever wonder if Paul reads these comments? How cool would that be?
This is great! Paul is one of my favorites. His humility is refreshing!
Can’t believe Gibson hasn’t done an ALIVE! Firebird
Yes!!!! Such an iconic and obvious model they need to do
Good point.
I believe it’s one of the guitars Bill Aucoin the original kiss manager had a financial and drug problems. It was told on Paul Stanley face the music book
@@MetalWizard91 I think Paul told me someone broke the neck in the studio and it could not be repaired. I'd heard Aucoin sold some stuff too but that was in the 80's?
@@kissarmy75 I never knew the neck on the firebird broke during the studio. I thought it was the early 80’s I’m gonna have to go back reading the book so I can confirm it was the case

One of the very best interviews I've heard from Paul Stanley
Paul has no illusions about anything. I love that. He's such a genuine man.
Wow, this was phenomenal. Thanks so much for this episode!!
I like that black flying V. If he put that in the production I'd buy one.

Thank you for watching
Man, this is really a fantastic surprise, learning that Paul is so knowledgeable about vintage stuff. After seeing him playing almost exclusively brand new stuff for his entire career. Such a cool episode.
