RIP...Brother Brit Turner! BBS is the best band I've heard in the last 20 years...imo Finally, the best Gibson player gets a Signature Series Gibson for Brother Charlie Starr! Congratulations Gibson!
I’ve met, and hung out with Charlie multiple times, after gigs, on his tour bus, and this is exactly how he is. A humble, fantastic singer, songwriter and the best guitar player out right now.
Oh heck to the yeah!!! Congrats Mr. Starr on the signature model! Gibson 'bout time!!!! 😄 This looks right up my alley!!! Well back to watching the video, couldn't wait to the end to comment! Thanks Dinesh, always love your interviews!!!!
Charlie always has been one of the players that is a huge influence for me. His stage presence is one of the best out there and I can’t think of anyone more who deserves a signature guitar. It will be one I will have to look at
Most folks do not understand how much talent it takes to play lead with the excellence Charlie does & sing so gracefully as well !!! My number 1 rock band !!!
Charlie, I am so happy you have this signature guitar!!! 🎸 So well deserved my friend. It’s beautiful, and suits you very well. Can not wait to see it LIVE!!! Thank you for all you do, give, your style, and your love for all of your fans. You are a true blessing, and I can not wait to see y’all again. Safe travels, always, and take good care💜
Congratulations, Charlie! No one more is deserving of a signature model than this man! As I write, two fantastic nights of BBS at The Shed are in the books and looking forward to Night 3 this evening. Charlie has played the Walnut Junior a bit both nights and it is stunningly beautiful! Bravo! 👏
Charlie Starr has been my LP Jr hero forever. Ain't nothing better than BlackBerry Smoke! I called my local Gibson dealer and tried to pre-order, apparently that's not available yet..... But pre-order we will! ❤
I love this man ❤. His music has got me through bad times and always makes me happy. He's one of my favourite human beings on this planet. But, I really thought I was done buying guitars, now that has changed 😮.
YES!!!!!!! Charlie is da man!!! I've seen Blackberry Smoke live about 6 times or so, one of the best live bands out there. (edit) WTF? A Charlie Starr signature Junior?
If I had the cash I would definitely buy one of those Charlie Starr Juniors. A Gibson Les Paul Jr. with a single P90 is my favorite models ever made. Having met Charlie before I can say that there is no one more deserving of a signature model. He’s a very friendly and down to earth guy and an absolute beast on guitar.
What a great and honest interview! Also you guys were both playing badass guitar at the same time and it sounded beautiful and you weren't stepping on each other's toes. That's professionalism and artistry
As a NON musician but a huge huge fan of Charlie Starr and Blackberry Smoke, this is one heck of a good interview! I'm in mesmerized awe as I listen for a second time! Thank you Dinesh Lekhraj and Charlie. Wonder if Charlie will bring that beauty of a guitar to Europe this year? Seeing them in Brussels, Paris AND Milan! Rock on Blackberry Smoke. Merci, thank you Gibson Gear Guide!!!
I (of course) do not know him, but this guy - Charlie Starr - seems to be such a great guy. Love his playing and his sound, and his appetite for "simple" guitars. You plug in, you play.
An absolute great bunch of guys. As humble as they come. The amount of giving they all did during the shutdown says a lot about them as people. Brit told me many times about shipping out swag for fundraisers, as well as donations. Charlie's pretty darn good on slide too!
It's about damned time! This band is reviving good ol' rockin' feel the tingle as the chills rise in your skin roll--and Charlie is the catalyst and driving force of The Smoke. Congrats Charlie, it's well deserved! It's hard as hell to save money for whatever reason nowadays, but I want one! And somehow, as long as it's legal, I will have one!
Just love this one ! Tips, tricks and stories. Charlie is an amazing musician, we can see he's pactice a lot to become where he's at. I would like to see more stuff like this with other musicians.
love ole charlies licks, I found B Smoke from my friend Nicky ford, he plays in a band called western sizzlers and rick richards plays with them as well, nicky said one day man I saw blackberry smoke and bought the t shirt so I gave them a listen and been hooked every since we about to see them in London in September , so sda about ole brit luckily we saw hin play, r.i.p brother
I found BBS while looking for some Kentucky Headhunters video's on You Tube a couple of years ago. Accidentally found "Good one comin' on". I was hooked.
Charlie Starr is another step along the path of righteous guitar playing. So many to name and such a long lineage. Charlie is authentic and well deserved for a signature guitar. Sadly of the hundreds of guitars I have owned over the years...I have bought one brand new Gibson...a Les Paul Special with an Ebony board...TV Yellow..nitro finish....$699 closeout...one of my best playing guitars.. No chance of buying a brand new Gibson....way too expensive. Most of the pros, have guitars in the same way Charlie got his..bought them on deals used. Once Gibson hands them over to make players think you need a $5K Les Paul. They are way off base. Doctors and Laywers that dabble in guitar will keep Gibson afloat. Players don't buy their new guitars.
I’ve seen blackberry smoke a few times they sound like the record just amazing blackberry smoke is the real deal they write great songs there all great players vocals spot on I can’t say enough good things about them
Charlie is a fantastic guitar player (& great guy!) at last getting his well deserved signature model! I bought a junior yesterday and can honestly say that Charlie was my main motivation & inspiration for doing so, I also “needed” a P90 guitar and the simplicity of the junior appealed to me and as I live mainly on the bridge pickup, the single P90 was ideal!👍👏👏🎶🎶
@@gibson I went for the Vintage Tobacco Burst, I only visited the store to have new pickups installed in my 2004 Les Paul & spotted the Junior on the wall, 🙈😂😂👍 Delighted with it👍👍🎶
Just trying to imagine Charlie at age 11. (He hit 50 on 11 July 2024) Mowing grass to earn 20 bucks to buy a guitar. Wow. I believe it, totally. What a great story teller. Thanks again Gibson Gear Guide.
Too Funny in Charlie talking about moving picking hand back and forth as with actually using controls. In the late 60s , my father would bump me in the arms while learning guitar... He always say ((relax, move the playing hand around, stop smashing strings in the fretboard, use the control s)) !!! Yes, what a pain he was, but he taught me to be a better productive player !!! 😊
I got lucky and found these guys at the Star Bar in Atlanta back in 2009. Watched Charlie play that Jr a lot in the early days. IMO it is still one of best sounding guitars in his collection. A great choice for his signature series and well deserved for this riff master.
That opening jam was about as bad ass as you can get. There's not a guitarist on the planet that could sit still with a guitar in hand and not start bustin' out the chops. C'MON NOW ! ! !
Charlie plays a lot more complicated parts then he claims. Watch him play and he's doing it all..............palm muting, open strings, picked notes, percussive with the fretting hand, hybrid picking. The dude is fantastic.
The LPJ Atlanta story is reminiscent of how I got my Suhr Classic T. I wasn’t looking for a guitar, didn’t need a guitar, but a used Tele-looking guitar was hanging on the wall at Sam Ash. I tell people that when I touched it, it was like Harry Potter getting the right wand. I never even plugged it in…I just knew I had to have it. The guitar was spotless, not even a mark on the pickguard, so I figured it was new, but found out from Suhr it was 16 years old. Ihave no idea where it had been for 16 years…apparently waiting for me.
Damn I just bought a Junior (mainly because I wanted to sound like Charlie). Had I known about this, depending on price, I might’ve waited. Oh well, I love my Junior anyway.
RIP...Brother Brit Turner!
BBS is the best band I've heard in the last 20 years...imo
Finally, the best Gibson player gets a Signature Series Gibson for Brother Charlie Starr!
Congratulations Gibson!
No one deserves it more! Charlie Starr is an absolute phenom. And one helluva good dude!
Thank you Gibson for having Charlie come on
One of my heroes and there is not many interviews of him out there
Had the pleasure of spending a little time with the band and these guys a great bunch musically and personally
I’ve met, and hung out with Charlie multiple times, after gigs, on his tour bus, and this is exactly how he is. A humble, fantastic singer, songwriter and the best guitar player out right now.

The Smoke ain't no joke, and Charlie is my Les Paul Jr. hero!
Charlie always has been one of the players that is a huge influence for me. His stage presence is one of the best out there and I can’t think of anyone more who deserves a signature guitar. It will be one I will have to look at
Saw them twice, one of the best shows I've ever seen and I've seen everyone.
Who?
Most folks do not understand how much talent it takes to play lead with the excellence Charlie does & sing so gracefully as well !!! My number 1 rock band !!!
Love Charlie and his playing, what a good dude.
Indeed!
Yes. Brilliant guitarist, with nice guitars!
Seems like a humble, likable guy.
Charlie, I am so happy you have this signature guitar!!! 🎸 So well deserved my friend. It’s beautiful, and suits you very well. Can not wait to see it LIVE!!! He’s soooooo good. Finally got to see them live. Did not disappoint.

Great interview!! Back in the late 70's and early 80's I used to plug my old Fender Mustang into my stereo to use as an amp!!
I love this man ❤. His music has got me through bad times and always makes me happy. He's one of my favourite human beings on this planet. But, I really thought I was done buying guitars, now that has changed 😮.

Yeah wtf satin black or flat black signature model? I NEED one asap😂❤❤❤❤

So glad Charlie is getting a signature model. I’ll definitely be in line for one
Please let them make a lefty version……
Great interview and picking with a great cat. Congratulations Charley!

One of the best Live Bands I've ever seen! Charlie is awesome! Can't wait to see the Smokers in Munich again this september!
Awesome Charlie!! Love Ya TFM!!
He quoted Bon Scott. This dude is the man. 👍
What a great and honest interview! Also you guys were both playing badass guitar at the same time and it sounded beautiful and you weren't stepping on each other's toes. That's professionalism and artistry
Wow. My first gig at 14 on the "Moose Club" circuit in west central Georgia, similar to Charlie. But I hung my saddle up. What an inspiration he is.
Love Charlie and I've been really wanting a Junior
I picked up my first Junior this year and I'm an absolute convert. It changed the way I play an interact with the guitar.
It definitely helps you really appreciate the subtle changes volume and tone knobs have on your sound.
Had the pleasure recently of seeing BBS live at o2 appollo Manchester, great night, great music, thank you Charlie and the guys, God bless Brit.
That's what I'm talking about. Straight ahead guitar into amp, raw and satisfying.
As a NON musician but a huge huge fan of Charlie Starr and Blackberry Smoke, this is one heck of a good interview! I'm in mesmerized awe as I listen for a second time! Love this show!
Never disappoints
I'm going to be on the lookout for these Jrs. That Walnut Jr is very tempting.
That’s the one I would go for as well.
First signature model I've ever truly wanted. Blackberry Smoke is fantastic.
I (of course) do not know him, but this guy - Charlie Starr - seems to be such a great guy. Love his playing and his sound, and his appetite for "simple" guitars. You plug in, you play.
Charlie is one of those dudes you can listen to jam forever.

I can’t think of anyone mire deserving. Mr. Starr is a what his last name says. Long Live The Smoke!!!!
His last name is Gray.. Lol
You got me. Love p90’s, Junior’s and Mr.Starr
about Damn time !!! but . . . . Gibson came thru . .I echo everyone's absolute love and loyalty to BBS . .
Mr. Starr is the king of cool. Every note is sooo seasoned.
Tom Petty has that title, still does
Damn! Sick Jam! Charlie is The Best!
Charlie is my all time favourite guitarist.
i'm so fucki' happy for this amazing man and guitarist! hope I can get one!
Just love this one ! Tips, tricks and stories. Charlie is an amazing musician, we can see he's pactice a lot to become where he's at.

Charlie never leaves a gap between cowboy chords, he can riff between every change.

So cool to hear him reference Joe Perry - that's who I always felt was an influence on his phrasing.
Love the new Signature model!!! It's in the water and the mud down here in the MS Delta :)
Great to see Charlie getting a signature LP Jr.!
Best band around, Charlie , Paul and Benji killer 3 guitar sound. Awesome axe Charlie, well deserved.👍🎸
I love that intro jam!!!!

Such an excellent conversation, should've been an hour (or 2) longer.
Great interview...thanks guys...
Tasty intro jam!
Love Juniors. Was lucky enough to get my hands on the Lukas Nelson Signature '56. Incredible instrument.
Loved that, awesome through to the end
Thanks for watching!
Charlie is responsible for my P-90 addiction. 🤣
Glad I'm not the only one lol

Charlie Starr...great guitarist !
What a cool dude and great player to boot.. I'm going to seriously check out that walnut version, hopefully I end up with one .........
Sooo well deserved Charlie!!!
Great musician and humble person!
A lovely guy, all round! We're proud to have him on the channel!
Something refreshing about his playing
I used the plug into the stereo method too, worked great!

Coolest ever interview, guitar, tips, all good, and topping it off with a dead cool hat.
Got my 1954 LP Junior in 1971 for $170.00. The guitar is an absolute monster. Have used it on hundreds of recordings.
Yeaaaaa Charlie got a own Signature Model... 🎉
If anyone deserves one its him
Such a great video!! Keep it coming Gibson!
Those p90s sound wicked! It's all about that growl.
Awesome interview and jamming!

Love the band and the new guitar. Jr's are the best. I love my 63 custom shop SG Jr. It has amazing feel and tone. Rock on Gibson!
Blackberry Smoke is an incredible band.

Ours was at vinyl downtown in 08, with the GA Satellites!! Cheers brother !
Charlie is the best!!
Hello Charlie starr signature jr. Goodbye financial stability.
Bought an actual LPj for $700. Used. Don’t be silly, kiddo.
Charlie is a very underrated player.
Love the new line of signature models. I work at Gibson
That opening jam was about as bad ass as you can get. There's not a guitarist on the planet that could sit still with a guitar in hand and not start bustin' out the chops. C'MON NOW ! ! !

Yes. I used to plug my 1976 Bicentennial Firebird into my Aunts stereo. Blew that one up to.
I too, blew up a stereo with a guitar! -Lee
Damn,..that was awesome.!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You guys play great together
Charlie is a great player. With a great future ahead too.
"I think most of that happened in the seventies,,," That's the sort of what happened to mine, too ! Hahahaha!
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Guy is badass, seen them twice live,
Hey Charlie, you forgot about the late great Johnny Winter, when speaking of slide guitar players who picks. John always used thumb picks.
Well done Gibson! Charlie and BBS rocks. Great signature model 👍🏻
Damn I just bought a Junior (mainly because I wanted to sound like Charlie). Had I known about this, depending on price, I might’ve waited. Oh well, I love my Junior anyway.
That’s the good stuff there
