I just ran into your videos and subscribed! I’m 46 and was just telling my 25 yr old daughter that if she’s ever noticed I’m always trying to organize, de clutter and clean peoples house. Even when I do not say anything my mind and eyes are looking around at peoples homes when I visit. I think I would be amazing at this business!! I’m going to do my research and do this once in for all!! Thank you and I will follow you and watch your videos!

@@lf9341 do you mean what to pay the employee/subcontractor or what the client would pay for a team?
You can do either. If the other person is a partner, the client would be paying extra to accommodate you both getting the same hourly wage. BUT the job gets done faster so the client saves time and possibly money that way.
If the other person is your assistant or junior organizer, it's different. Some owners pay 1/3 their hourly wage to the employee, and some pay half. It depends on various things 😀

Wow! This is super helpful!!! Do you recommend charging friends and family to practice? I don’t want to charge for my time but maybe for the materials I would buy. i.e. baskets, containers. What do you think?
Awesome, I'm so glad! So, I didn't charge friends and family for those first fe jobs. They were responsible for buy their own products and supplies and I asked for testimonials and before+after photos for my website/social media.

Plenty of folks specialize in either staging or interior design work with their organizing business 🙂 They are a good combination. I recommend keeping your service offerings very simple as you get started. To many things overwhelms prospective clients who are after solving very specific problems.
I recommend checking out some of the podcast interviews I have on the channel 😀 There's a lot of conversation around this topic.

I have a few questions.
1) Is it absolutley necessary to create a business ? Or could you just simply offer your organizing services to friends, family, etc if you are good at organizing and call it a day?
2) Is doing smaller to medium tasks like (organizing a kitchen pantry, a home office, a makeup and hair section, etc) in demand as much as organizing a cluttered room or house?

Man I think I'd be good at this just nervous.... What if someone is a hoarder and expects me to go thru all that lol. If it was a home office, kitchen closet or a wardrobe closet or something I could do that!! Container store and IKEA every other day? ...like .... yes!!
The beauty of running your own business is that you get to choose who you work with! You won't run into many clinical hoarders, and if you do, refer them to a specialist! :-) If you need help getting started click the ink in my pinned comment and book a strategy session. lso got LOTS more videos to help you get started in this career. It's very doable :-)

Did you already have your website up when you asked for reviews? or what platform did you use for your trial clients to leave reviews?
I did have a website ☺ I also got reviews on lead generation sites like Thumbtack.
What if I have ZERO FRIENDS
And I don’t have family either
Then, it's time to step outside your comfort zone. Email, text, or talk with a coworker, your landlord, a realtor, a neighbor, the barista at a local coffee shop, etc. Go through your phone and see who you could message. Offer a free, 90 minute mini session. The worst they can say is "no." Once you're past your first "nos" it'll sting less. There will be MANY rejections along the way and that's just part of doing business. Be fearless and go for it!
Contact a local realtor and ask if you can leave some business cards. They will be in touch with people who are downsizing, moving parents, etc.

I did a lot of research on my own at first but started to invest in coaching once my business generated some income. That's when my business really started to take off!

How much an hour costs professional organizer?
Ah, yes good question. It depends on where you live and who you're marketing to (bargain hunters, vs. clients who look for luxury experiences.)
The best way to determine your rate is Google your competition. See what they're charging and come up with an average to base your pricing off of.

Hello! It depends on the type of project and which service package the client chooses. All my prices are on my website ispeakorganized.com :-)
Do I need a course?
Hi Casey! When you're just getting started, I'd say just go for it. If you have the skills you can get started immediately without taking a course. I didn't start investing in any higher level education until my business was pulling in the revenue necessary to cove the cost.
One thing you may consider is scheduling a call with someone in the industry who can answer some questions for ya and get you motivated in the right direction. I know Kathrine Lawrence offers this and so do I! I do recorded zoom strategy sessions at $50 an hour. You sure can! I currently work part time to stay home with my kids, but I know many people who do this full time
