I just bought a 09 S40 at auction. Starts but dies with any throttle. This is an excellent tutorial on the carb and a good start to my tuneup. Thank you.
Though being familiar with the Savage (I have one since 2007), the mild explanatory pace and the soft background music ("Blackbird" nailed it) made this one a pleasure to watch. Thumbs up 🙂
I noticed you didn’t remove the 3 bolts on the side. Behind it there is a spring and rubber boot. I’m not well versed in how carburetors work, but should this be removed prior to submersing the housing to avoid the rubber deteriorating?
Was it running 'perfectly' at one time AFTER the slip on? yes/no (I assume the answer is yes obviously!) Then it sounds like a (partially) blocked Main jet. NOT the Pilot jet. Clean the Main jet. (Clean both jets while you are at it) I understand the Pilot jet's 'job' is from 0-50% throttle, and the Main jet's 'job' is from 50% to 100% throttle. Good luck.
I have the same bike my carburetor is acting up if i use a spray bottle with gas it will stay runing but every time I turn the gas on it dies do you know why
Extremely helpful tutorial, thanks for taking the time to put it together. Feeling much more confident in tackling this project now
Nice video. The camera was steady and not jumping all over the place. Thanks for making it.

Great tutorial. I appreciated the level of detail and not rushing the video. 👍
Thanksss soooooo much. I have never worked on mechanical issues and with your video it made it super easy and understandable to work on my bike.
This video was a great help. Thank you for taking the time to shoot and explain it so well. Also the background music was nice.

Yes. I was wondering if that cleaner is different.
The three screws were stuck and I couldn’t get that part open. It should be taken apart
@@jakesworkshop1253What exact tools and cleaner did you use?
@@2c2bpolitics-ce-gate3-4 Metric socket set, screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, carbeurator cleaner

I have an s50, it has two carbs. Do they have to be synched after they're cleaned?
Thank you! Do you think I could use my sonic cleaner after everything's disassembled?
Did you adjust the float level?
I love Savage LS 650 💙
Why didn't you change the jets to correct the extra lean running condition that everyone complains about?
Thanks for the video. Is there a place for those shiny black hoses that go to air? Or just anywhere under the gas tank?
Just under the gas tank
how comfortable is the standard OEM seat and what is the max height before your knees are too high while riding - awesome
Very interesting, thank you !
Anyone would know why when i get into gear and start riding, im getting oil pouring out the valve cover hose ??
Do you mean Tappit cover??
Valve cover hose, - tighten the hose clamp????
I dont understand the intricacies of carburetor parts. So just curious, how come you didnt count turns on the jets and just sunk em in all the way?
Simply because that is how I found them when I opened it up. I checked each jet along the way and they were all sunk in all the way.

My s40 is like having problems in 4th and 5th gear and I can’t push it to 100km I have a slip on exhaust. What do I do

Most likely need just need a cleaning or replace the crappy stock petcock
I have a Suzuki s40 as well and it won’t stay in idle it will shut off if I don’t give it gas, any idea why?
Are you pulling out the choke before you start it? And keeping it out until the bike is warmed up?
SIMPLY adjust the IDLE screw. It takes a FEW seconds!!! A FEW seconds.
That is what the IDLE screw is for. It just takes a FEW seconds!!!!!
What year is the motorcycle?
2006
Thx
Nice job.
