To the owner of the red Savage: turn up the idle a bit bro. The oil pump needs a minimum rpm to properly distribute oil to the entire engine.
This opened my mind up to these bikes. Id so buy one.

RCYA motorcycle company converted lots of these to bobbers and cafe racer style. They used to sell kits. I believe they're still on TH-cam.

Wow the Red One(6:21) actually had a low thumper idle like he opened up his engine instead of just putting stickers on it. Nice!
Such a low idle is a actually bad for this engine as the oil will have trouble reaching the top of the cylinder at such low rpm's.
Those thumpers make cool looking bobbers.
The last one was a surprise to me that somebody had the same idea like me: Sporty Exhaust pipe and the same handlebar (which i really like despite people still call it "uncomfortable" without ever ridden it :D )

Like a Sportster except it goes "potato" instead of "potato potato".
The first one is by far the best one. I just do not like ape hangers. I really think the look tacky.

I've had a S40 for four years. No matter what these guys did the little bike sounds like a commercial lawn mower. I like my bike but it's slow and gets blown around on the highway. I'll leave mine stock period. Until I can afford an S50.

@@bigboi9611 hatte damit nie Probleme..auch nicht beim TÜV. Die haben bei MSR aber auch mal den Auspuff geändert. Kumpel hatte auch einen, der war deutlich lauter und man musste die E Nummer auch selbst drauf nieten. Bei mir war sie im Endtopf eingeprägt.

I have the same one. Have issue with getting spark. Changed the cdi and all. Guessing may be starter relay.. idk anything about these bikes I know I runs just cant figure it out

I don't know why Suzuki decided to call these toothless big banger's Savage, they're more like Salvage than Savage. The birth of the LS650 wasn't one of Suzuki's most memorable moments. It should have been a parallel twin to get any kind of street cred, big single cylinder motors are best in off road bikes, not cruisers.

Apparently they still got street cred considering people build them all the time
The Savage had a 33 year run (1986-2019). I'd say Suzuki should be proud of the little bike's staying power. The Savage was the first bike I ever threw a leg over back in '87 and I still love them to this day. Additional thought: the big thumper engine was what set the Savage apart from other similar sized cruisers of the day (and to this day even). I don't know if it would have been as successful or long-lived as a twin.
@@crominion6045 the Suzuki twins like the vs800 and vl800 had a good run too, started in the 80's as an intruder, still being built I believe but under the boulevard name, I have a 98 vs800 that kicks the crap out of Harley 883's every time I come across one.
