Wow, cleared an obstructed pilot jet, after third attempt, used 28AWG wire. Works like a charm, no choke to stay alive. I am jetted per RYCA rich jets set for the S40 CS1. Idles right nice. K&N air and short megaphone. I like the backfiring exhaust.
Looking at a s40 as a first bike. How often should you have to clean the carb and is there a way to maintain it that would extend the time between cleaning?
I think you only really need to do this deep cleaning if necessary, I have that bike and just want to clean everything up, not like it's been sitting like this one in the video so I'll just pour some carb cleaner in the gas tank
I have the S40 and when i pulled the carb to clean the idle jet i noticed that the throttle cable only opens the throttle plate, so what pulls up the main jet needle as throttle is increased ??
There's a lot of good info in this, he's obviously made the mistakes, and learned from them, it's much easier just to trust what this guy says than try dumb shit like hitting a screw driver with a hammer thinking that does something!
I have the same bike my carburetor is acting up if i use a spray bottle with gas it will stay runing but every time I turn the gas on it dies do you know why
Erm ... tear it all way down and remove all rubber to side and needed soak it carb cleaner 1 -gal cleaner kit! REASON: just 1 little piece them black dust spots will plug up your new jets.. ! at minium i would wash it in carb cleaner or soap water.. like purple power.. dam.. i see alot debris.. ! cant afford it/ luv sonic cleaner though

BTW, if you're unlucky enough to lose the float bowl pin, you can use a similar gauge nail, cut to fit.
Sonic cleaner will eat holes in brass and aluminum btw!

I do not use a kit, I buy jets in carious sizes and keep them in stock.
