I made my King Size quilt for almost free with reclaimed, up cycled materials

  • Here is a look at the king size quilt I made for almost free, using reclaimed fabrics and materials. I didn’t use batting - I used clean, salvaged pillow stuffing… block by block, all 99 of them! I hope you enjoy my process and are inspired to try up cycling and saving discarded clothing from landfill by turning it into something beautiful and useful. Thanks for watching!

    Very nice job! I am particular to scrappy quilts and reusing materials. Don't be too critical of your work; it's all part of the homemade vibe.

    Well it was wonderful watching you and I do enjoy your banter, you are very entertaining. Those kinds of material scare me I really feel better just sewing with cotton, but I’m sure Somebody will be happy to try this. I’m not comfortable sewing garments.

    I love this quilt. I'm also casual about edges, etc. Though I am learning better techniques, I will never be the one eith a near perfect quilt.

      Thank-you! I appreciate it and wish you the best with your project! I made a throw size out of my husbands dress shirts - the shirts wear out at the collar and cuffs but so much great fabric still left in them - its one of the reasons I started trying my hand at quilting.

    Hi Dara! I'm a new subscriber and getting ready to venture into quilting. Love this idea! And you have executed it beautifully. Thanks for keeping it real and showing your work-arounds. Help? What size and type of needles did you use for your machine stitching and your hand stitching? Thanks! And keep 'em coming!!! Greetings from St. Louis, MO. ~Kelly🪡

      @DelightfullyDara  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      wow I'm so pleased you will give it a try! Hand stitching - just any old variety pack of needles from the fabric store - then keep experimenting with the size/thickness until you find one that YOU find comfortable in your hand and with the items you are sewing. - That's what I do. Machine needles were 80/12 or 90/14 sharps - I think these are basically "all purpose" sizes.
