  • Kennel cough in dogs is a common infectious disease but are antibiotics always the best way to treat it? Can you in fact simply treat them at home? Also, does the vary depending on the age of a dog, or other diseases they might be suffering from?
    Kennel cough is a syndrome meaning that there are a number of different causes. Very often it is actually self-limiting, meaning that a dog will recover without any treatment at all.
    Some dogs though are at a much higher risk of developing complications and serious disease.

    The honey is for the antibacterial properties, much like essential oils like oregano oil or coconut oil, raw honey doesn't just soothe their throat.

    I believe my 8 and 9 month old Labs have kennel cough. Because of their age, are they high risk?

      If it's been a month then I would want to check that the right diagnosis has been given and different treatment isn't actually needed

      @@jasvir472998 turns out our dog did not have kennel cough; he has Valley Fever. He's been on anti-fungal meds since January. He's not coughing any more, but VF is becoming more common and vets are missing it. Riley was only tested for it because after two rounds of anti-biotics I asked for a VF titer test because of research I did. We have him on other herbs to support his liver and immune system.

    What antibiotics is what we need so you are no help

    • @OurPetsHealth
      @OurPetsHealth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most cases don’t need antibiotics, and only a vet you physically see can make a diagnosis and prescribe medication
