Something to consider for those considering the price. The first Gshock came out in 1983 for around 50 USD. Today with inflation alone that is about 160 USD. $300 isnt bad for all the features/strengths the Gshocks are known for. Watches from casio have actually kept their affordability over the past decades.

Well, considering that metal Casio is just a normal 100 USD GA-2100 with a nice steel bezel and a nice dial, that should be max 150 USD watch, basically that's the price in Japan right now (without customs off course). Casio's price goes up about 50 USD per feature, which is a bit disgusting....GAB2100 is absolutely not worth 150 USD.
Proper positive display mod for your King is a bit picky job, make just one fail and consequences for a watch itself could be really bad, think about selling it and buying the positive one. That price for that Oceanus is nothing special, I bought Oceanus in a mint condition for 50 USD. That's 36 mm OCW-10 which was advertised by Casio like a woman's watch, even though I'm not able to understand how solar atomic dual time chronograph with a black dial can be even be considered as a woman's watch. And yes, it's a couple of levels above any other Casio line by any measure, Oceanus is a real king of Casios (together with MRG).
I've absolutely never heard about bolts coming out of the GPR-B1000, no way...I have it a very long time and in my opinion that's possible only if someone is messing with the bolts, otherwise no way....that thing is definitely not for a playing with mods, not for breaking that gel after you overtight the bolts..watch is discontinued and a parts will be unobtainium.
That Promaster Land is nice, but a price tag is the asolute headache.....I think it's less than 500 USD at this moment in Japan, which is in my opinion still too much....a lot of smoke but there's no fire.
    good video

Writing the blog with your Rite in the Rain pen first would just make sense. Have someone type it up for your blog then use it as your script. The Rite in the Rain pen has to be used though.

The GMB2100 does have a screw down case back, a much better bracelet/clasp and is made in Japan (like most higher end Gs) I think that’s where a lot of the price difference comes from when comparing to the new GM2110D. That’s why I think the frogman’s command such a higher price, Japanese made, screw down case back and ISO certification.

It's a handsome watch Jim. The dials in this series are really nice. I saw people griping about the price in your other video. The cool thing is, no one is forcing people to buy it. People are free to buy something else. I have a couple of the full metal models. They were pricey for sure but I dig them. That's the beauty of Casio watches. Theres something for everyone at every price level.

Awesome video! Also, I just had to take a step back to realize I was watching and enjoying a 45minute philosophical video on the price of watches. To anyone watching this, if you have one or several expensive (several hundred dollar-1k usd) watches, IT'S FINE. I actually think it's BETTER than having several cheaper watches. After all, if you get several nice sapphire+solar charging watches for various occasions, you will be set, but if you get the plasticky scratchy stuff, they will be in a drawer somewhere. I think the "i'm not rich enough to buy cheap shoes" saying applies here.

You are right. You never quite get what you want with Casio. The step up in the offering vs the price is a tricky one. I guess it depends on the person and the enjoyment they get out of it. You honestly seem to love it and that makes worth it to you. In six months time the price will be lower and the value preposition higher. What I am thinking is that each and every variant has probably got to be retested and analyzed for shock absorption and dust/water resistance. When you add and remove materials with certain weights and densities its got to have an effect. I would love to see you test normal watches and see how they hold up. I have not heard about the ERA300DB but I think he might be referring to the "Super Illuminator" like on the MTD1079D-1AV. I absolutely love Citizen and their Eco-Drive! I think you should keep your reviews exactly like they are. They are genuine and authentic. Take care Jim!

$300 could be too much for some. That's all relative. Instead, I think it's great that Casio offers different watches at different price points. Assuming this watch could fit my small wrist, I would probably pass, but this could be the watch that other people are waiting for.
Great job on breaking down the prices for the different models.

Good video,I like the the comparisons between the different models and prices. I think after some time the price will drop on your metal casio. I bought the green mudmaster from an authorized dealer and it was on sale for about 600 euros. The red band one is still 800 now. And I think this is a good deal. Another example is the original gwg-1000-1a3er which I bought in February for 420 euros. I always buy watches from authorized dealers and they have better prices after a few months after launch. But if you want to be the first one, you have to pay more. So I'm waiting patiently for the citizen promaster land. Maybe at the end of the year will be on my wrist.

I am eagerly waiting for a comparison picture between the $300 and $550 version. The GMB also features tough solar which is attractive.
Do you have the possibility to visit some dealer who has it in stock and take some picture or film them side by side?
And I agree with you about the original dark dial GMB. It's very boring and the dial looks dead.

My issue is more with the quality than the price - a 'folded' steel strap and such a cheap clasp on a G-Shock is unacceptable, the price is a bit too high, but a Rolex costing $10,000 is also less durable, less accurate, yet people don't complain about them being FAR too expensive - even though they are for such a basic watch.

With a 6.75 inch wrist, I don't know it this beautiful watch will even fit?
Any small-wristers out there that can comment?

    Hi Jimmy,
I haven't watched the video yet but I can already answer the question 😉.....You seems to be happy and proud wearing it when you go to church, so no $300 isn't too expensive 🙂
It's time to see the video now !

Is the metal bracelet in this gm 2110d compatible with gbm 2100 ( the one with half metal solar) what are your thoughts on this?

@@taahashaikh7575 Good question! I was wondering that myself. In theory it should fit but I don’t know for sure. There’s only one way to find out.

@@JimKinkadeI can the plastic wings which attach to the watch case at the back have a removable pin. In that case this should fit in. I have the glacier blue varient in half metal . I am keen on getting the orange dial from this series. If the bracelet is interchangeable then it's a win win situation .

I want solar, that is worth it. Sure, battery changes are not a big deal, but never changing a battery worth it. What is $200, well less than most of my bills. That said, I do not buy a G-Show a week like you! Cheers! Thanks for your insightful reviews!
