  • When boats were made of wood, men were made of steel…
Like Bligh's men, they battle brutal storms and treacherous reefs, braving the furnace of northern Australia's shark infested waters, and the challenge of landing on remote tropical islands to hunt for vital supplies.

    The Series
In a unique experiment we challenge 21st century men to re-live one of the greatest feats of maritime adventure and endurance in naval history. After the legendary Mutiny on the Bounty of 1789, Captain William Bligh and his loyal crewmen were cast adrift in the Pacific Ocean and left for dead. In a remarkable act of seamanship Bligh led his crew to safety across 4000 miles of ocean from Tonga to Timor.
9 men are setting out on the same gruelling journey in a replica 23 foot open wooden boat, with similar equipment and the same rations of food and water that Bligh’s men had. They’ll use the 225-year-old diary kept by Bligh during the voyage as a survival handbook, to help them uncover the secrets of the seas in such unpredictable, often, brutal environments. Like Bligh’s crew they will face sudden storms, treacherous reefs, and the challenge of landing on isolated tropical islands to hunt for vital supplies.
Anthony Middleton, of SAS: Who Dares Wins is assuming the role of Captain Bligh and will lead the expedition. His crew is made up of sailors and complete novices - the ship’s carpenter is an odd job man and the ship’s surgeon a GP. As the voyage progresses the crew will be constantly challenged by raging seas, starvation rations, and the confined space of the boat. Will Ant be able to keep his men in check and lead them to safety? Or will he have to contend with a mutiny of his own?

What happened to the Island natives after the stone incident. Did the captain send an army back to kill them all?

What a super series....why did channel 4 pull it???

They didn't, it was only ever meant to be a one of thing. Channel 4 were doing a lot of similar survival style shows around the time.
Look up bear Grylls: the island and Eden. Similar vibes from the same era from channel 4. BG the island more reality TV about dropping modern people on a deserted island.
Eden was a much more ambitious project that ultimately failed but the episodes they shot/the docu about it going wrong are very good viewing

A german sailor and adventurer : Burghard Pieske -- did exactly this on his very own in 1998 ! He sailed in a copy , which he had have built for himself , and took this route and journey in 53 days, surviving storms and difficulties ( and without any technical means like satellite phone etc. ) . He wrote a good book about this journey : "Bounty Bay - 5000 wet miles in the Pacific Ocean"
Perhaps that was not known by the organizers f this project or the producers of this film.
But they should once do a bit of research before they come out with some wrong information about a journey which was not done in modern times to copy the route that Bligh and his men took !!

Just finished reading his book, he didn't miss the birth, he just made it... this looks like a good program, showing how mental strength and positivity takes you much further than a negative pessamustic mindset.

Obesity, tattoos, cultural diversity, and ignorance of the ocean. What could POSSIBLY go wrong (besides them not accomplishing a fraction of the original goal)?

I agree with your overall point but I’m not really understanding how “cultural diversity” would be a drawback? Kinda just sounds like some snowflake virtue signaling. Amazing how conservatives all somehow think diversity is a bad thing. It’s amazing.
