    I love playing around with E.G. over time on the synths that allow it. Random or planned, its a very interesting option! So nice to see that the new Buchla 208c incorporates it.
    Keep up the sonic alchemy, noble Apothecary! ::bows::

    Been playin' around with the 208c for a couple months, and only just now, from this vid, learned what the m.o. freq or seq s input does, wow! Such a deep instrument! your videos are extremely helpful thank you!!!!

    Lovely - I like the "improved" video format as much as the improved Easel. Looking sharp, both of you.

    I don’t have a Buchla, just some ordinary eurorack system, but your videos are nevertheless inspiring and a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills in such a positive manner!

    After years of thinking buchla was out of my price range or too scarce to buy, and then building a Eurorack to get the closest approximation, I sold all of my modular and reserved an easel command three days ago. I can not wait to get it in my hands! Thanks for being a constant inspiration Todd! I’m sure I’ll be referring to these videos even more than usual.

    Just got one.
    Nothing sounds like it.
    It’s a lot of money for a mono synth, until you realize it’s in its own class.
    it’s even better!
    Thanks for the ideas!

    Fairly simple - maybe - but such a beautiful patch! I will try to translate it to the Shared System. If I fail, I am going to get myself a 208C!

    It's very cool to see your approach!
    I just bought the Arturia virtual emulation of the Easel. But it has no voltage control over the envelope's attack and decay. Makes me jealous!

    • @hakonsoreide
      @hakonsoreide 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the Easel V last year too, and I've enjoyed it a lot. I keep saying it's a testament to Don Buchla's visionary design and unique synth architecture that it actually is one of the most enjoyable virtual instruments to play using a mouse I've ever used. While it sounds great, there are those occasional sweet spots and synergies that don't seem to translate into a digital emulation from an analogue synth, and of course the emulation isn't of the latest hardware iteration with its updated features.
      I am still thinking of saving up for the real thing. I am selling some gear I don't use these days, and I have almost enough money in the bank right now that I can seriously consider it.

    Your videos are so inspirational and educational! Really helpful stuff thanks Todd!
    Question for you. If you were a first time easel buyer would you go for a modern or a retro easel? Not sure if more utilities and expansion is the way to go versus a more aesthetic version of the easel with none of the extra stuff! Thanks!

    • @vgermuse
      @vgermuse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mark, thanks for your kind comment. I’d probably go for the retro, but then again I’m old school and am still finding new things with the self-contained Easel as instrument.

    Hi Todd, how to choose between mo freq and seq-s cv input? I use Portabellabz The Toolbox for the seq-s and use the onboard cv in for the mo freq modulation)

    • @vgermuse
      @vgermuse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a jumper or switch on the circuit board to engage random stages. Ah the Toolbox is most handy!

  • @missnoisy3034
    @missnoisy3034 ปีที่แล้ว

    What can you say about the differences in sound between the vintage Buchla Easel and the reissue? Do they sound similar?

  • @christopherchang6378
    @christopherchang6378 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok, I took my 208 out, flipped it over and found the switch for "seq s." It doesn't seem to randomize the sequencer stages, it just randomizes the number of stages played, kinda like randomly flipping the 3/4/5 toggle switch, but goes down to 2? I finally read the manual, and it says the 3rd option for that "m.o.freq or seq s." CV input is "to function as a sequencer source for pulse inputs when the sequencer is
    in the “off” position. This should be self-explanatory."
    I must be a moron then, because It's not obvious what this means to me, or why it would be useful.
    Thanks again!
