There’s a lot of references and appearances of characters from the “Short Stories”, these are little episodes of Hellboy either created by Mignola himself or another artist he collaborated with. So I would recommend picking up both Vol. 1 & 2 of Hellboy short stories, because (no spoilers) some of these characters are detrimental to the overarching story and may leave you shaking your head if you didn’t know who they were. I hope that helped lol

I've been waiting for this for a long time! Insane that you guys never got to this. You should totally cover the Darkness Calls ~ Storm and Fury storyline that the new movie is being based on, there's honestly so much more characters you can get into the history of instead of always doing DC or Marvel characters.
I just finished B.P.R.D.:The Devil You Know, which was his ultimate story ending. Equal parts depressing yet fulfilling. Never read a comic book story that lets you actually follow a character all the way until their true end. They always get rebooted, restarted, brought by other companies, etc.,etc. I love the story and character, and have never had a fictional character leave such an impression on me.
