Expand it to quints by adding a second kick beat: RLLKK RLLKK RLLKK RLLKK, the lefts, of course, ghosted. Use it nearly identically to RLLK RLLK... you are placing the five beats as quintuplets exactly matching "one" over the top of your otherwise four 16ths. Not kidding. You'll amaze yourself.
technically, yes. I play a pick up note with the kick drum on the "a" of 4 and the first right hand lands on 1. The pattern is consistently RLLK throughout the rest of the measure. hope this helps.
