    I got one in 2020 with only two owners and 115k miles on it. When the first owner sold to her niece in 2018, it on had 85k miles on it. The niece drove it a bit hard and blew the head gasket, and the radiator. This is where I come in. She’s was gonna junk it for $200, but decided to give to me if I towed it off her property. The body, paint were in great condition and the interior was immaculate. I later found out that the first owner only drove an average of 6 miles a day for work. $1400 later in repairs and much needed maintenance and she’s going strong. No check lights or weird noises. Doesn't leak any fluids, runs quiet and like a champ.

    I bought a 1998 Honda accord brand new. Had it 12 years before my wife totaled it. Had to replace the a/c compresure at about 120000. The cruise control made a clicking sound when cold. No other problems. Miss it a lot!

    You should check the transmission fluid it should be bright red . Love mine 2001 ex v6 only 116,000 on it when I bought it the transmission wasn’t shifting vary good fluid was black had to change it 4 times shifted better every time I changed it .it’s bright red now. Shift’s great now Use only genuine Honda transmission fluid. Amazon has it for a good price . It’s really easy to change there’s a drain plug and a fill plug easy to get at

      I bought a 2001 EX 3.0L V6 this month. Only paid $600 for it, because the transmission was bad. I tried replacing the solenoids, but that wasn't fixing it. I found a used one for $900 with free shipping, and my transmission guy installed it, new fluids and seal, and an external cooler for under $1400. So, I'm all in at about $2900. Now, subtract the $1400 I got for an old Ford Focus that the Accord is replacing, and I'm only out about $1500.The Honda only has 129K on it, the trans has about 80K. I'll be making sure this trans is treated well, and if I get 20-30K out of this car, I'll be perfectly happy. It'll take me years to do that many miles, since the car is going to be just a weekend/occasional ride. Or I could turn around and sell it - the longer I hold on to it, the more it will be worth. Right now, I could easily get $3500. But, since it's my fun ride, I'm going to hang on to it. Plus, I would be paying more in insurance if I didn't have it (multi-car discount), so I'm saving $800/year by having the car!

    Thanks everyone for your comments I actually came here to read positive comment that will convince me about Honda products. Seeing Honda cars break down on highway bcoz of ball joint and gear box issues change my desire to own one, truth is I don't even have a jalopy, there's this friend of mine he offered me a 2002 Honda accord that is down but need only gearbox replacement I'm afraid to accept his offers bcoz I don't want to go through hard times just bcoz of 02 Honda accord, but after going through all your comments think I'm ready to risk it.

      We got scammed by a local mechanic. The car only has 100,000 miles and we gave him $4,000 to basically change the timing belt, water pump, fluids, brakes and rotors. The car is leaking oil from the crank seal. He refuses to fix the leak unless we pay him $1,600 more. The car is not worth the money that we spent to repair it. It was a gift to my son from his grandmother. I just did a full detail inside and out. The car now has a ceramic coating, double din stereo with Apple car play , backup camera and Bluetooth connectivity. I added front and rear dash cameras, led headlights, interior lights, reverse and brake lights.

  • @OneKauz

    You should probably get your check engine light fixed. Driving around with cel on is causing long term damage.
    When the cel is on the computer is using what is known as closed loop. Closed loop ignores sensor data of real time data & goes on a preprogrammed map which doesn't match the real driving environment causing excessive rich fuel which lowers your fuel economy & will cause damage to other engine parts over time.

    • @515speed2
      @515speed2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the information. My check engine light is a evap code I can delete it comes back on in a day or two. I’ll keep deleting it see if gas mileage gets better

    • @OneKauz
      @OneKauz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikeflack1616 it kinda doesn't really work that way either. When you reset your ecu it clears all monitors & runs on a pre-programed map again (similar to the cel on).
      The ecu is checking cycles of the monitors until its satisfied they meet the requirements & then goes into closed loop real time data. Unfortunately in your case as soon as the cylced check of the evap is complete it flags the ecu as a fault again putting it into cel on & open loop.
      Best to just get the evap problem resolved. Known faults would be a leak at the gas cap or leak from the purge solenoid or the purge solenoid not responding due to an electrical fault from ground or ecu

    Between my siblings up here in Minnesota, we had a 1999 Lx and a 1999 V6 Accord, and a 1998 Accord Lx. I traded the V6 Accord with over 250,000 miles, and sold the 98 Accord with 192,000 miles to a family friend who is still driving it to this day. We owned them all as dealer "Certified Pre-owned" so I can attest they all had the original transmissions/engines since new.

    My son just received a 2001 Accord EX from his grandmother. It has 100k on it and just had $4,000 of work done. The car was always garaged. I just did a full detail and ceramic coating. The paint and interior look brand new now. He receives a lot of compliments on how shiny the car is. There is a small oil leak from the crank seal. The mechanic that replaced the timing belt and water pump four months ago is refusing to warranty his shoddy work. The shop did over $4,000 in repairs and said we still need to replace the distributor o rings, rear main seal and oil pan. I took it to the dealership and they showed me that all of the above items are not leaking. The mechanic was trying to scam us.
