My dad just got me a 2000 accord ex yesterday. It's my first car! I love it. I am use to driving my dad's ford excursion, that thing is HUGE. It's nice to finally have my own car.
I just recently purchased a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6(my second Honda Accord now with a V6 engine). I had a 2002 Honda Accord with the same V6 engine and it ran so smooth all the time,so I dont know why some people think this car has transmission issues. My 2002 never had any of those issues and at the time of my unfortunate car accident it had 170,000 miles on it and still was running strong to that point, How long your Accord lasts you depends on how well you actually take care of the car. The 2000 EX V6 I just purchased from a dealer has 119,000 miles on it,and is in great condition, most of the major things like timing belt, motor mounts, spark plugs, battery, most fluids have been flushed except for the transmission fluid which I will take care of pretty soon, and aside from needing 2 new tires for the front, this car most likely is not going to cost me a ton to fix,my 2002 Accord did not cost me all that much either. These cars will last, they are reliable, and the V6 for 1998 to 2002 is one of the best around for a used car its size. You cannot beat Accord reliability, and I can honestly say I would recommend this car to just about anyone. Heck,my V6 on my 2002 at the time on average gave me 29-36 miles a gallon. Seriously, how many cars for that year, with a V6 no less, can beat that? Honda reliability, lower cost of insurance, excellent resale value. How much better can it get? Awesome car all around.
Samuel, I'm trying to find out which exact model I'm considering. It's a V6 300 HP coupe, dual exhaust, 4 speed automatic, it's sporty. Would you know where I can find on the car what exact model, or possibly the VIN # tells the exact model. The title just says Honda Accord, it's not on the manual or on the car that I can find. I'd appreciate any help. First non domestic car but friends and family swear Honda can get 300,000 miles maybe more. That's appealing when on a tight budget and cannot buy new under warranty vehicles. Trusting used car salesmen I thought that had improved, my last car I drove 10 years, still low miles I don't travel to a j o b any longer. Drs. appointment seem to be making up that mileage :) You mentioning yours is an EX I'll see if I can find photos, not sure of any other letters that set these models apart. Onward with my search, enjoy your Honda.
Hey Jennifer thanks for your message regarding your looking for a Honda Accord with a V6. I actually just purchased a 2000 EX V6 sedan with only 120,000 miles on it,purchased it with cash from a dealer for 4,100.00. Anyway, regarding the VIN number. It should be on the inside of the front or rear driver side door,as well as on the left lower corner of the windshield. The EX V6 comes fully equipped with leather seats and a sunroof as well, and the Homelink feature which is nice. But how much can you afford and are you looking thru a dealer or private seller. If you go thru a private owner, make sure you get the maintenance history, because not every owner takes care of their vehicle as they may claim. If you go to a dealer, check out multiple places, and have someone you trust that knows a lot about cars and how to negotiate with a salesperson. The nice thing about an Accord EX V6 is that they have good engines and they ride well, and the cost of insurance is lower as well. Best websites I can recommend are KSL.com,carfinder.com,and for reviews on cars,Edmunds.com and Consumer Reports. It is true though,Honda Accord can easily go up to 300,000 miles if taken care of. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. My email is samster1975 and that's at hotmail.com. How's your car search going so far?
thanks for the response. Your post was great but there's just somethings that can't be avoided, like dealers that are dishonest as day is long. I purchased a 2000 LS, 140,000 miles, timing belt just changed(wondering if the old belt in the trunk is off something else, now), new tires, no rust, one dime size ding looks like a small rock could cause. Had it checked by two mechanics one a friend who gave it a quick look knowing I was headed for my mechanic I've had for years for an in depth check, undercarriage, suspension, engine, belts, fluids, transmission and also hooked it up on the computer. Samuel, as I drove the car, shortly after leaving the lot one light after another started coming on. First check engine which my mechanic found the code on the computer, it was a small glitch, he fixed it, sent me on my way. Then SRS, brake lights on and off, then the check engine returned. My mechanic hooked it up, he is convinced the dealer cleared the computer, as I drive what was cleared will enter back on b/c it wasn't fixed but hidden. Although the brakes work fine, fluid is up. Seems to be running good. I'm unsure of what to do next. I thought I'd gotten a great deal. I wish I had owned one before now or had better knowledge. Those friends and family that spoke of the cars lasting have no input now, well some but no good answer for this outcome, besides return it. I have no idea what is common problems on these cars, making a decision to fix and keep may be my only option or selling it. I've never bought a car that needing repairs, ever. This dealer is trying to use the As Is law, no offer to make things right. I can only say this dealer can give a bad name to all dealers. If the As Is law protecting him, he did not sell me an As Is vehicle but when I called they refused to take the car back. After my mechanic can get it in in the morning, document all, I will take it to the dealer see if face to face and proof of all the issues if he's reasonable. If he still refuses to fix, refund, make it right with the As Is law I may have to keep it. If that happens I don't know if it's worth fixing or selling. He hid what "As Is" is based on. You have any input? If not I'm not pressing for any, just wondered. Well this has been a long post tried to edit it down, so excuse the errors, I'm just a bit on edge today :)
Nancy Fischer my only thing with the as is law is that thas why yhu ask what's wrong with the car they lie and tell yhu nothing so they can get the money that is what bothers me
The transmission on the Hondas has always been their Achilles Heel. The reason for that is due to the fact that Honda makes the transmission according to their specs. I live in Texas, the heat here plays havoc on the transmissions. We have 9 months of Summer. With that being said the transmissions have a difficult time staying cool, by the time the car reaches K200 miles , the transmission has pretty much had it. The inner components start to break down, the heat doesn't help matters. My Honda mechanic told me that there is a company based out of California who took the Honda transmission and completely redesigned it. They built more ports which would enable more transmission fluid in the chambers therefor allowing more tranny fluid to keep the transmission lubricated and cool .. Price $4K I can't afford a new Honda Accord so I'm keeping up with the tune ups , maintenance and taking good car of my car. It runs better than when it was new. My Honda mechanic said I would never have to replace the transmission for my car ever again I haven't done anything major to my car except little things like replacing lightbulbs, fuses and tune up once a year. My car is 14 years old and is in extremely good condition. I would never drive a domestic car except " Jeep " We have a 2011 Jeep Commander and we Love it. :-) If y'all want the name of the company let me know I'll forward the info. Honda Girl. :-)

Get some headlight resto kit and clean those headlights up, super easy. I had a 2000 Accord coupe EX V6 new off the lot and loved that car but sold it a few years later to get outa payments.
Just bought one today. I found a treasure too good to.be true 40,000 miles on the car with mint interior and exterior condition. Every single feature works, could not believe it. Only thing is chassis rust, does anyone knows how to fix this? Can you kind of sandblast the bottom of your car.
Nancy I can see where you are coming from. What you need to do is try to haggle with a dealer, and even a private party,on a price for the car that you are looking for. I was lucky this time,I had someone go with me. The dealer was selling it for 5,900.00 and I got it for only 4,100.00,paid for it in cash which I have never done before. But as a result,I now do not have to worry about car insurance, just keeping it maintained. The person who owned the car before me took great care of it, And sure,it does have a few minor blemishes on it,but nothing that would hurt the overall value of the car. And so far, almost 5 months later, still going strong. But definitely consider a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry, they are both great cars, hold their value very well, and are among the top cars as far as resale value goes, and are also among the very few cars rated very well at even over 200,000 miles. And the cost of insurance is lower for both of these cars. So again, just do your research, haggle with the sales person or private buyer, set your price,be nice, but be firm with them. Dont ever let anyone take advantage of you when trying to buy a car. Hope that helps.

i wonder if the transmission went out on this one. the v6 and 4 cyl models had issues with those
I had a 2002 Honda Accord 4 cyl and it had 290000 miles the engine began to knock before the tranny went out
+Tyler Morrison my trans on my 2000 accord just went out last week and is getting rebuilt. the engines on these things though are tanks.
What kind of gas mileage do you average?
Watching in 2024 buying after in jan
I have 2000 model Accord but it have different stop lamps. Why?
I want so much this car. But while in the USA these cars cost US$ 2,500. Here in Brazil they cost US$ 6,000.00...
You should have got a manual transmission. It's more fun that why.
No manual transmission for the sedan
SouthernSpeed there is
2000 mustang vs 2000 accord, whats better?

It should be mentioned that the V-6 engine could only be had with an automatic transmission - no manual V-6 option till 2003.
I'm looking to buy a first car. I wanted to know if this would be a good first choice. This exact model. Thanks.
So... do you get it? I’m looking at this model as well how do you like it
If its a V6 where was the V6 badge on the back?
And EX
The rear was repainted and the emblems weren't all replaced. The rear bumper cover appears to be aftermarket quality. The shape is distorted.
