I have a 2002 SE 4 cyl that I bought in September 2004. It had 15k miles on it when I bought it from the local Honda dealer and now have 126k on it almost 17 years later. I have had to replace a couple of things like the radiator and O2 sensor but it has been a very reliable car for me. I just had the original struts replaced with KYB quick struts and had the car aligned and put 2 new tires on it and it runs very well especially for its age.

I've had a bit of an affair with the Accord coupes. I bought a 2002 2.3L 5-speed manual coupe in 2007. It was without fail one of the funnest cars I have ever driven. I have had occasion to wish I hadn't sold it. It used a quart of oil between oil changes when I bought it with 60K miles on it. By the time I sold it with 215k miles I was looking at a ring job cause it was using a quart between tanks of gas. The top end had already been rebuilt by then.
Back in the day my best bud ordered a new 2001 Accord coupe V6 EX-L. A couple of years ago I bought it from his widow with 80K miles on the clock. She was moving up to a new Subaru and it looked easier to buy the 01 rather than do a ring job on my 02. The 01 needed an alternator and I replaced the EGR valve, the thermostat, the rubber bushings in the front end and the 12YO tires. And the cabin air filters. It came with a complete set of dealer service receipts for all scheduled service (including regular transmission flushes). It doesn't use any oil between oil changes. It's in better shape than yours and my transmission has a dipstick. Somebody stole your dipstick. :-) Mine was always garaged in the desert so the paint is excellent and there's no rust. It has the upgrade factory wheels and the 6-disk changer. It's faster than my 02 was and heaver, but it's just not as much fun to drive. :-(
If you believe TH-cam, that automatic transmission is the weak link in this car. Hot-rod it or dump it into gear with the revs up or turbo the motor and you burn up the first-third clutch. Let it sit for too long without driving and the regulator valve for the torque converter gets sticky and you burn up the torque converter. Regular fluid changes are rumored to help. At one point there were after-market upgrade kits available for these transmissions that were supposed to fix some of these issues.

I've got an 01 4cyl accord with 494k unfortunately the salt here during the winter has the body a little rough near the rear wheel arches. It still drives strong dont think I'll ever get rid of it.

True... My 2002 Accord was slipping, changed transmission fluid now much better.... Going to change 1 more time and add lubegard transmission additive, then I'm sure it will shift like new.

I love my 2001 Honda Accord EX coupe it’s all custom out with 200,000 miles with no engine issues at all fully rebuilt transmission. Going to do an engine swap at some point looking to put in a 3.2 L
Acura TL engine With 40,000 to 70,000 miles for pretty cheap

I just bought my 2001 Honda Accord Ex last week and already have to replace the crankshaft position sensor , dizzy, water pump , timing belt and cam balancer belt and the exhaust from the cat back lol of course yours is in better condition , good luck with your build and be weary of the transmission in the 3.0 VTEC they have a tendency to go out.

Junk yard owners apparently think inflation applies to them as well, so they’ve jacked up prices on even the cheapest of plastic parts. LKQ tried to charge me $60 for a plastic engine cover (beauty cover or whatever the hell they’re called).

Yes this has happened to me too recently. I used to pay $22 for a rear trunk reflector panel and now they want $60 because "oh its based on length now" and its technically a light even tho ITS NOT its a reflector, no bulbs. Absolute bs

Was just the style then, every decade interiors look similar on cars as designs change. Go look at any 80s car everything is squared blocky, then everything got smooth corners more rounded.

It is not recommended to change the transmission fluid in old cars. It can cause slippage and you may need to rebuild it due to the new fluid. The old fluid contains more friction that actually holds the auto transmission together
Better to keep the old fluid in case you need to change it back. But I see you got a great car there

Also, if you don't have record of the timing belt and water pump being done, especially with over 200k miles, have it done ASAP. Buy the oem Honda or gates or Denso/aisin kits. It's not a terribly hard job, you just need to make sure all of your timing marks stay where they are supposed to be.
EX-L means it has leather. On newer Hondas, like the 08-12 accords, it means leather, xm radio, heated seats, memory seats, outside temperature gauge, auto climate, etc. I'm a big Honda guy. Honda and Toyota are top when it comes to quality and reliability.
If you don't have records of the auto trans fluid being replaced before, then don't do it unless the car has less than 100k miles. That's for anyone who reads this that needs some car knowledge. It can and will ruin transmissions. On those accords the transmission is absolutely garbage. You are supposed to do what's called a 3+3. Drain and fill 3 times, with driving in between. You're supposed to leave the drain plug out until fluid comes out of it and then it's full. Just an FYI for you
