  • I use regular gas in both stoves but sometimes use camp fuel for longer self life, they will not run on straight kerosene, probably would on a mix, have not tried diesel.

    Ive never seen the foldgers can used before. THATS AWESOME! I wanted one of the grey cases made by coleman but hate the price. Thanks for the tip, definitely getting a few foldgers cans for my stoves!

    The 508 simmers beautifully! The upgrade doesn't. Turn it too low and it goes out.
    You can get an aluminum simmer plate that allows you to simmer a pot on the 'upgrade' without turning the burner all the way down.

    I've never heard of gasoline being used in a camp stove!

      It is odd but safe and great for emergencies. It was scary using it the first few times…. It’s Coleman so I trust it.

      Camp Fuel is gasoline that doesn’t have all of the additives in it yet. These types stove are designed to run off of it.

    Was considering these two....think the 533 would be a better bargain....newer, less parts to fail ....and can use gasoline for an emergency......any suggestions ?

    I have replaced 3 generators in the last 3 months on my 533. The wire clogs up in them and Coleman said I should use Coleman fuel every third time which was news to me. Coleman fuel is far too expensive to use it regularly, it would be cheaper to buy a gas one.

    how long have you owned the 533 for? just bought 2 and want to know how often I'll be expecting to replace the generator if I use gasoline.

    • @elliottsconstruction2639

      I have had the 533 for around 15 years, only replaced the generator once, probably 10 years ago, I used stove fuel For a few years but have used gas For at least the last 5 years With no problems, I think using it regularly helps, Old gas is the enemy.

    • @JoshSinnott97
      @JoshSinnott97 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the reply and for warning me to use it frequently if using gas. I plan to use it every 1-4 weeks so I'm not sure if I'm better off using coleman fuel because even if I syphon out the gas before I store the 533 until the next time I use it, the old gas might clog the generator I'm assuming?

      @@JoshSinnott97I think the idea is to run it dry before storage if you're not using it all the time. If you're on a camp trip or on the road coming every day it'll not gum up, much like in cars.

    what’s the BTU output of each stove? I had a 508 as a kid ice fishing but it was stolen. I’m looking to buy another one.

    • @elliottsconstruction2639
      @elliottsconstruction2639  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      According to Coleman literature the 508 puts out a max of 7500 btu. And the 533 10500 btu. The felt output is the same Though.

    Please don't use gasoline in the 508,it will eventually gum up the generator, they cannot be cleaned and and replacements are nearly impossible to come by anymore. 533 generators are still plentiful, but not the 508.

    • @TheNDDawson
      @TheNDDawson 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      they use the same generator dude. i have a 508 thats ONLY been ran on gasoline. Ive even swapped generators between the 508 and 533. Color of tank, and the valve/flame control all in one on the 533 are the only differences bud.

      @@TheNDDawson Are they the same weight? I thought the 503 gas container part was made of aluminum. Is that incorrect?
