I'm homeless. I use mine many times per day. I put a capful of Redex in a 1 litre bottle of petrol to help keep the generator clean, works a treat.

I collect camp stoves. Every time I use my 533, I am reminded what a great stove it is. It's so easy to light and deal with in general.

There are only 2 single burner gas camp stoves worth owning in my opinion. The Svea 123R and the Coleman 533. I use the Svea for single person fishing shore lunch and coffee and the Coleman for car camping. I don't worry about weight too much and use Lodge cast iron with them, 6 and 8 inch and 10 with the Coleman. When I can burn wood I use a Firebox. Both the Svea and Coleman are bulletproof and I recommend owning both. Most excellent video flick. Mahalo!

Agree. With the 533 and the Svea 123 you can't go wrong. Both are best used with white gas which is easily obtained.

Great review, thanks. I found your video as I'm exploring whether to get one. Probably good for canoe camping. Cheers from Toronto.

I have owned my Coleman 533 dual fuel since August 1999 purchased it at the local hardware store for preparing for hurricane Bret. I then purchased my Coleman 428 powerhouse dual fuel. Very nice 3 burner. It has saved the day on many occasions.

I have one which I purchased about 2010 and it works fine. Use it car camping and to boil water for cleaning my muzzle loader and plucking chickens as my wife wants me outside for doing those things,

Love my 533! Mine gets used double duty, I use it on a low simmer under my diesel Mercedes to warm the block in the dead of winter. Never fails me

Just got one almost new from a Van camper guy. $50.00 came with fuel and a funnel. Craigslist not EbAy.
Talk about a deal. Hardly used and ran well when tested.
It came with the grey carrying case as well. They say it make a better foot print on the ground. Something to keep in mind if you have a big pan or pot.
    Love it.

Helpful. Thank you. I am working with a new 533, and having trouble with the pump. Added oil, but the rod is still very hard to move in and out, and gets stuck out. Pumping is not smooth. :(

I had a 533 for fishing in the winter, I used Unleaded petrol in it but I had to buy 4 generators before I dumped it as the generators kept blocking up. I wrote to Coleman with my issue and answered the questions they raised and they said I shouldn't be using Unleaded petrol every time, and to only use it one in 3 times and to use Coleman fuel in it the other 2 times. I said nowhere in the instructions that came with it mentioned that. I wasn't going to keep buying generators at £25.00 a time so it went in the bin.

I have owned a 533 for over 20 years and always run it on unleaded petrol. When it's working it's great. Unfortunately, this isn't very often. It is the kind of stove that always requires you to take a back up stove. It is very high maintenance and the parts are very expensive. Expect to get through generators at £25 each fairly frequently as these block up. It needs to be dismantled and cleaned more or less after every use. It might well run cleaner and more reliably on Coleman fuel but this is more expensive than Gaz and is not so readily available in UK - also defeats the object of buying it. I see that some outlets are asking well over £100 for this stove which is ridiculous. It is definitely not worth that! It has let me down so many times that I now use a gas stove.

Me too I'm using gasoline only and never had any issue since one year. I should have burned more than 1lt of unleaded gasoline. I always pump it as much as I can and run the stove on high only. No soot, no clogging. I use fuelsave 95 octane e10 gasoline.

As much as I like the simplicity of the Coleman 533, there is one design direction I do not like. The fuel container is attached to the source of heat.
Yes it works for simplicity and it just works, I think that is a demerit.

Once you get the stove warmed up turn the valve too off the back on to the level you want.

Question…the video was great thanks for the help but you link to the Solo 1800 when according to the dimensions you gave the stove is too tall for that pot. You use the Solo 4000 and it seems to fit well, why do you list the 1800?
