In this video we are discussing the emergence of a new profession between the fields of architecture and structural design.
Dr. Milos Dimcic, working for Knippers Helbig Advanced Engineering, single-handedly wrote the software for the largest parametrically generated facade and structure in the world (at that moment) of the new Shenzhen Airport Terminal, designed by M. Fuksas. Working at the same office, he was also responsible for the development of the EXPO Axis 6 funnel-like steel grid structures.
In 2011, he opened his own office - Programming Architecture. Since then he has been working on numerous interesting and large scale projects, introducing different methods of optimization and automated geometry generation.

I am learning programming, from an architecture background. Which software is best for this, Dynamo or grasshopper?

By the way...your past video about apartment plan generation by software is nothing but idioty ! Because you just talked about a very specific case which is the very standard apartment shape.

What are you trying to solve or are you just adding more complexity to get paid for what you making, how does it help humanity, did you go and test in area that needs rapid solution like ppl who had to face environmental or war crises? Show us on that scale what this new thing can do instead of waiting for some billionaire to ask you to build something for them, what is your ethic as human behind this, is it self serving for architecture for humanity

No it isn't? Computational architecureallows us to work much more efficiently but also allows us to explore technical possibilities that potentially slow us to create buildings or even civil structures that are beneficial to society at large. I strongly believe this revolution within architecture can actually help us become MORE relevant then we are now. Now architecture is largerly a dysfunctional sector where people work as slaves for a concentrated minority under a thinveiled argument that what we are doing is "art".

Now i understand what you wanna say...you HATE Architects !!! All you are trying to prouve in your videos is that techcnologie overcome architects thinking and Architects are people from the past...I think you should focus on your engineering preferences and leave us, architects doing our job. Thank you ....Mr Einstein !!!

Nope, sorry, you misunderstood. I am an architect and I do not hate anyone (including myself). Architecture and almost every other profession on the planet has to change as the techonology changes. All I am trying to do is tell my story...how I follow the progress of technology and how I am changing with it. You and everyone else are free to do whatever you feel is the best for you. Also I consider Architects to be Engineers...and "Architectural Preferences" = "Engineering Preferences" as far as I am conserned.

I suggest you modify your channel into in engineering one. And stop interfering in our archtitectural way of thinking and doing...We architects know well how to accomplish our work !
