My motivation for the subscription was you not asking me to. When you simply said thank you and goodbye at the end of this lesson was the moment you got me as a follower.
I'm 55, only been playing 2 seasons, maybe 45 rounds of 18 in total. Before watching and taking your advice and approach I was shooting 110/115 and would lose 4 or 5 balls each round. Now I'm now I'm consistently playing in the mid to low 90's and have not lost a ball out of bounds or in the water since. Thanks again for all of your videos
Make sure you find people who are better than you to play with. Not for the tips or competition. Seeing good shots has an impressive psychological effect. I always play better when I play with better people.
Jimmy is must thank you massively I'm still very high handicapper playing for 8 months now but I'm beating my friends that's playing for years now and I'm relax keeping it simple

Hello Jimmy, I love playing golf. I’m 70 years old. I watched your video. I’m very impressed. I’m going to try and follow your simple and straightforward philosophy of playing golf. Thanks for sharing wonderful video. By the way I’m not very good but I’m sure your tips will help me improve my game. Thank you.
Yessir! I went from a 12.5 to 6.9 in one season. I’m 57 and maintain my single digit hcp because rarely do I max out distance with my clubs. Precisely why I watch and prefer the LPGA over any other sport. The women manage the course so well with zero ego. Also my wife is my golf partner. She’s a good player and helps me maintain my attitude 😂
women are the best golf partners. no hero shots and always positive. Thanks for watching. For more Info and to support Tropicana with epic retro Merch, please visit, www.tropicanagolfshop.com
I was a 16.3 handicap going into this season. I decide to take some of your advice I swing back and through nice and smooth. I have no ego as I’m not a long hitter. In my last 5 rounds I am a 12.3 handicap. My last 2 rounds were an 76 and a 80. I played smart not trying to kill the ball. I just swung nice and smooth back and through and my game was great. More GIR and birdie chances than I have ever had. I even teed off with a 4H. 7w, and 5w instead of driver every time. I played smart and was aware of danger on the course. Thanks for the advice. I hape to get to single digit handicap.
I watched this video yesterday, i’m an 18 Hdcp. Played yesterday afternoon and tried to implement this as best I could. Shot my first round ever without any double bogeys or worse. Shot an 84, second best round ever and I really wasn’t striking it that well.
As someone who has recently joined the single figure handicap club, i really enjoyed watching this video as it reminded me of my own journey - and working it out yourself - without any fads or massive swing changes etc. Just a good honest video about getting the work done on the course. Well done and thankyou for posting this. I also subscribed because i wasnt asked to (i saw another comment below mentioning this). Jimmy, i wish you well.
Would totally agree jimmy. Leave the woods at home and swing nice and easy. Use your handicap and enjoy the game. The only shot I would play different (for the average golfer) is I would have putted that ball from just off the green. Most average golfers will blow a hole out by blading or chunking a chip. If u want a stress free round putt if u can putt. With a bit of practice you can always get them close. Just IMHO and with respect. Cheers. Rich.
So glad you made this video. I’m not a long hitter with my driver. If I hit it 185 I’m thrilled. So from that distance you’ve shown that there is a good chance for par. Keep making these videos. Most informative I’ve ever seen.
Bro! I am the golfer you described. Love the mindset and the philosophy. By far the most entertaining and informative lesson i’ve ever had in my life. I love the real talk. No canonballs LOL. Be cool and most importantly honest with myself. The end.
This is my second actual season of golfing. I took some lessons, got a little better. I was still shooting 90-95 every time. I took what I learned in your videos about the swing, mindset and how to look at a shot. I finally broke 90!! Thanks!
First watch for me, really good. Here's a story for you. Your on the right track. I am on the range two years ago, warming up for our club championship. Hit three balls with my driver. Third ball I hit, my driver snaps! Had to play with my 22 degree hybrid for two rounds. Played the best two rounds of my life and won!!!! Play off 11. Cheers Jimmy😊
How I learned to enjoy golf: I started 2 years ago at 71 y/o, soon wanting to quit. Now I walk, carry my bag, and try to bogey every hole, and I love it! (Only driver, fairway wood, 7, 8, 9, wedge and putter in a “Sunday bag” - total 15 pounds with a Gatorade)
I played golf for 7 years and couldn't break 90. After listening to a podcast where the instructor recommended doing what you say here in this video, I shot an 88 my very next round. It works.
Great video. My guy kept it real and simply explained. Its A GAME. more fun you have better play likely to follow. Great advice. It’s hard to take your medicine but it’s all the ego that thinks you can hit pro shots when we know we don’t practice 24/7/365 lol. Good shit. Thx man!
This reminds me of the summer I had a membership to a brand new golf course. I had young kids at the time so most of my rounds were first thing in the morning before work. It's not an exaggeration to say most of the guys I got paired up with were 40+ years my senior and yet I did well to compete with them. I was hitting double their distance off the tee but they always closed the gap by the final putt. At first I was like, wtf, but I gradually (slow learner) came to appreciate the value of just keeping it in the fairway. Sure you can try to go driver-wedge like the pros but, on most par 4s, 5 iron-7 iron is a safer, more consistent option. Your example of making par after hitting 160 off the tee was excellent.
Everyone needs to put away their egos and follow Jimmy’s instructions. It does work! I’m 69 and he knows what he’s talking about. You’ll enjoy the game much better. Thank you Jimmy. 🙏😀
Jimmy, thank you for this video!!! Swinging smooth is a concept I’m practicing myself and noticing a difference already. I have 2 goals this season as a 16 handicap. 1) drop 2 points by June and 2 more by the end of the season. Smooth baby!!!
Such sound advice. I played yesterday, had 7 pars and bogie golf (with a couple of foot wedges and provisionals). But I'll head over to the range today and implement your ideas. Short backswing, weight forward, back back of the stance, simple slow relaxed swing keeping the club on the front side of my body through the ball. Goal, keep the ball in play. Distance is unimportant. Simple chip swing. Jacuzzi size pin, don't splash the party and disturb the girls. LOL...awesome!!
I'm currently sitting at a 32 handicap. My goal is to work my way toward bogie golf someday. I've started this season by putting the driver away. Last season I had serious issues off the tee. I'd hit the ball 275 with my driver, but that would be 275 three fairways to the right. Or sliced right into the forest or sliced right into the water. Starting almost every single hole shooting 3 off the tee. Last year I was averaging 60 strokes playing 9 and would shoot into the mid 120's across a full 18. So far this season, using my irons off the tee, keeping the balls in play, I'm averaging 57 per 9 but across 18 I'm down to averaging 114. So my endurance is helping me finish the back 9 stronger. I'm less mentally fatigued and less stressed down the stretch. I know my scores are still far away from bogie golf but the difference is almost instant what keeping the ball in play will achieve. I'd highly recommend to every one who's bad like me to do whatever you need to to keep the ball in play.
I'm so solidly in this club. I've been shooting high 50s on 9 this year, with a bunch of 60s. My best is only 54. Breaking 100 is my first goal and this video resonates with what I think will help the most.
@@suprspi I had a 67, 58, and 56 this past weekend lol. It's a long road to break 100 that's for sure. I did get 3 pars and had a 280 drive. So I'll take the small victories along the way.
Hey Jimmy! Great stuff man! I’m approaching retirement age and been playing since 11yrs old, self taught. I know what you mean about swinging to hard and leaving yourself a bad next shot or trying a flop shot or chip like the pros. In fact, after all these decades, it’s still hard to not get it out of your head about “ that best swing “ shot that you ever hit. So, your advice stands and I hope to discipline myself better this season and just take an extra club and swing smoothly and easier. Relaxing is the key. I’ve felt that feeling before. We amateurs should take a step back and realize that we’re not trying to make the college team or hitting a thousand balls a day to win the tournament. Just relax a little and smell the roses. You’ve got a good way of explaining and teaching the truth about swing basics so keep it up.
This is a great video on course management, with a focus on scoring, not distance. Good for if you want to score better. When I hit an errant shot, my golf buddies are like: "Yeah, but it went far!". They need this video!
@@TropicanaEntertainment Great video, and I am trying to get there in my head, but I hit my driver pretty straight but that second shot, I try to kill it and either top it or fat it. Gotta swing...and I mean swing easier and smooth.
I get the concept. I used to do that too. I was long quite bit. My friend had won 8 CCs and gave me the best advice I've ever gotten. Take a club that you can't hit over the green. This concept works for punches, but I have a feeling a lot of 18 handicappers are gonna be long and making doubles.
long and right is the high handicappers go to shot lol . keep it in play is a great idea. Thanks for watching. Jimmy Tropicana for more information and to support Tropicana Merch please visit www.tropicanagolfshop.com
I am hooked (not my golf drive) at your channel. You said it right, leave your ego in the golf cart. Thanks for inspiring all the golfers of the world.
Love your approach to the game! We all know that senior player who can't hit the ball more than 200 yards but shoots in the 70's. That's the brand of golf you're selling here! Lessons we could ALL use and you're right... you're "not that good to be this angry." LOL... love it!
Wow, that’s very simple & doable…. First time to hear that kind of advise… that’s so cool hence relaxed… you’re my swing thought now & will try that the next time i stand on the tee box…. Thank you Sir.
Awesome strategy and confirmation that power has little to do with a great score, although even your strategy is not possible without a smooth, technically sound swing such as your buetifull swing! Thank you, brother. 😊
Agree with all the below comments, all golfers should see this video. Unfortunately all the 10 second clips on Social Media just show golfers pounding drivers and that's what most people think golf is, what you just did is what golf is and should be. Terrific content.
your one video of keeping the head stil has changed my game fore ever. My drives hv become fantastic, my irons are straight. (all this after 10 years of bad golfing)
I say that to people too... I don't actually say it to the person I want to say it to though, I just say it to someone else about the other person kinda under my breath
Dude, I don't subscribe to ANYBODY, but I subscribed to you!! This video was entertaining and helpful. This was a GREAT lesson on course management!!! Side note, I'm a stand up comic and you could be one too! I LOVE your delivery!
I went from a 16 handicap to a 5 handicap in one season. Me and my golf partner were stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. During the summer months it gets dark at almost 11pm. We would play 36 holes of golf at least 3 times per week during the week day after work which was 4pm and 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. We played so much golf that entire summer. On our second round during the week, we would empty our golf bag with with approach shots with our extra balls on the last six holes. We also spent hours on our short game. We used the horse concept that used in basketball to challenge one another. I saw vast improvement in my golf game.
I been putting the ball further back in myvstance for all irons and woods. Cured my hook. Playing the driver atouch furthe back too. Better contact, swinging easier, and because of hitting the club more in the middle, still get great distance. Went from high 80's low 90's to low 80's high 70's in just a few rounds. Avoiding OB and duffs, keeping the ball in play has been the change I needed
Stumbled across your channel , love it not over complicated just simplified tips ! In england has been such a wet winter golf has suffered , driving was going really well mainly due to the easy swing you teach. Now subscribed 👍
Jimmy, I’ve been watching videos for about 2 1/2 years since I started and I came across yours and your videos have helped me so much just to relax have fun. Thank you so much. I would love to be able to be part of one of your videos and meet you! I live in Whittier California. Been playing for 2 1/2 years only but started a bit later in life at 57 years old. Anyways maybe you can do a video with an average golfer in it like me! Thanks buddy you can do a video with an a you have been in your videos
Excellent information Jimmy and entertaining. You stay down on the ball when you swing easy. Remember the French golfer who lost the Open Championship on the 18th hole. He went back with a camera crew and teed off with a putter and if he would have used putter he would have won the tournament.
It’s easy for me to pick the right club for each shot: 1. Know my average distances for each club. 2. Get the distance I want to hit. 3. Factor in the lie, wind, uphill/downhill etc. and add/subtract club selection. 4. Pick the right club after all that. 5. Then take one more club!
Hey Jimmy another great show!!!! You said you’re not that good at golf to get so mad. I like that, my Son told me Dad “we all suck at golf” lol and he’s a scratch golfer. Thanks for all your advice. I enjoyed watching your Golf my way video.
I just found your page from watching Sidekick's videos. You just gained a new subscriber, my friend. Hit it on the grass... what a concept. My next round is gonna be nothing but a smooth tempo without any urge to try and kill the ball. I'm sure it's going to be a very good round.
Early 2023 my handicap was 21, today it’s 14.3, my goal is single figures this year, ideally before my 61st birthday in August….looking forward to what you have to say Jimmy 😉 (Edit) great concept mate, you are in perfect agreement with the Golf Sidekick….he’s a hilarious TH-camr from Lithuania who lives in Malaysia….check him out!
A piece of advice that helped me with longer putts was: Find your line, then find something midway between you and the hole that is in your line. Aim at that when you putt. That helped me a ton in either making putts or at least ending up at a distance from the hole that was basically a tap in
Snuck in that par 5 putt back door nicely. Played golf for over 50 years. That par 5 was pretty much hazardous free, especially around the green. My strategy; I try to smash a long drive, then sneak a 5 wood on the green or a short pitch. Then maybe up n down? Par is the max. These types of par 5’s allow one mistake and you can still make par. I have more fun playing like this and it’s a challenge. Plus I don’t get paid to play so I go birdie hunting on that par 5. IMO.
You're a cool Dude Jimmy. I like your logic for golf, it makes sense and it works. I'm going to start using this common sense format. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks 🙏👍
Looking cool helps you play cool too. The more I watched the more coolness appeared. The shirt, the cap, the shades... those shoes! Wait...ees dat a Manolo putting cover?!?! Dassit!!!! PS thanks, going to try my best to apply this method. 😊
I have to remind myself every ball, to ‘stop trying to hit the ball hard, just hit it!’ Now I’m going to try to ‘stop trying hit the ball, just swing the club’ thanks Jimmy.
I agree, but I have had an opposite experience. I hit the ball hard but comfortable. My newer pitching wedge is 150-160 and my favorite club. People get in my head sometimes saying all kinds of comments "b.s., you can't do that" etc, etc. all i can say to that is know your own game and don't let anyone influence your game like that. Know your distances and stick to it. Go up in club lengh 1 club in rough, and personally I do whatever club off the tee that is going to out my as close to the 150 marker I can. Play to your strengths. If your favorite club is a 100 yard sand wedge then play to that. Don't miss understand, i just started back after years of not golfing, before that it was a few times a year. I. The past 2 months I have played maybe 25 rounds. Only a 22 handicap, but it is putts i need to work on. I'm about 33% GIR on average. Also, stopped practice swings totally. I visualize the shots first, then just swing. Realize that isn't for everyone but I encourage you to try. Maybe limit it to 5 oactice swings a round. You will be surpeised.
Haha. If I show you how I film things? How will I film it? Lolol. Its an iphone and a $12 tripod from amazon with some wireless mics. No editing, no tricks. What you see is what you get partna’. Thanks for watching
Great videos. Would love for you to "super 90 deg" golf carts belong on cart paths. Let them take you to your ball from the cart path and return to the cart path quickly where your cart likes to live. : < )
I am new to your site and love your philosophy. I’m 78, was once a single digit handicap player. My best score ever, even par 70. All of a sudden I’m pushing 80 and suck. I’m in good physical shape, more or less, and like your abbreviated swing concept. Do you never hit a wood? I remain pretty good with fairway woods. I suck with a trouble club, always have. Should I trash the driver and fairway metals. I hit my 7 130 but pretty straight. Other irons pretty much 8 yds more or less depending on the club. Ie, 8, 120, 6, 138. Jesus, sorry such a long post. Would you suggest your style but keep a 3 or 4 wood for my tee shots. Thanks. I was about to quit but this gives me some hope.

Love that you love it. Thanks for watching. -Jimmy www.tropicanagolfshop.com
I am hooked (not my golf drive) at your channel. You said it right, leave your ego in the golf cart. Thanks for inspiring all the golfers of the world.
Thank you for the comments and thank you for watching
Love your approach to the game! We all know that senior player who can't hit the ball more than 200 yards but shoots in the 70's. That's the brand of golf you're selling here! Lessons we could ALL use and you're right... you're "not that good to be this angry." LOL... love it!
you got it!! thanks for watching
Very very helpful video. I will be able to mould myself while on the course with these simple but effective tips ! Many Thanks.
You got it! Thanks for watching. New video coming sunday
Best, most informative golf video ever!!!
Thanks for watching
Absolutely brilliant... pure philosophy and common sense, my first ever watch, light bulb moment ... Thanks Jimmy have a great day 👍
Amazing. Im glad this is working for youbb
Youre correct. Distance doesnt mean low scores. Thanks for watching. -Jimmy www.tropicanagolfshop.com
your one video of keeping the head stil has changed my game fore ever. My drives hv become fantastic, my irons are straight. (all this after 10 years of bad golfing)
Thats what I love to hear. Glad it works!
I must get the easy going attitude. I love it!
Stay smooth. Thanks for watching
Spot on mate. Fantastic vid for my 13 to 7 challenge
You can do it. Play smart. Thanks for watching. -Jimmy www.tropicanagolfshop.com

Ha! Had an old boss who was a scratch golfer... always told me... you're not good enough to get mad!
Hahahaha. Thanks for watching
Thanks for coming on board Scott. Enjoy the ride!!
This is great advice. I want to get a handicap and really get good at golf. Thanks

I’m glad this works for you. Thanks for watching.
Jimmy, you have changed my mindset and that has dramatically changed my game, Thank you!
Love to hear it. Thanks for watching
There you go! Saved by Tropicana :) Thanks for watching. -Jimmy www.tropicanagolfshop.com
Love it. You’re not that good to be that mad! I remind myself of that more and more. Great entertaining yet perfect lesson for most golfers.
Stumbled across your channel , love it not over complicated just simplified tips ! In england has been such a wet winter golf has suffered , driving was going really well mainly due to the easy swing you teach. Now subscribed 👍
Thanks for watching. Enjoy
@@TropicanaEntertainment cheers 85 today driving going so well
Freakin awesome!! Although you're relaxed demeanor makes me want to have a drink on the course 🤣🤣
No extra prizes for using the lowest loft to hit your target... Really liked this thanks Jimmy
Great video, Jimmy! I know you have an ego, as we all do, but your humility makes this video great. I learned from it. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Great vid! Again. Love the smooth delivery and mindset.
I’m glad you like it. Thank you for watching.
Thanks buddy
you can do a video with an a you have been in your videos
Maybe our paths will cross soon. Thanks for watching
Sweet!! Keep it Simple, thx for sharing, I am a 12 Handicap and this can be useful!
Great video again Jimmy and I have to say I'm loving that shirt. Retro-elegance 😉
Thanks! The polo is from nationgolfco.com they have some great polos. Use trop20 for a discount
Great info!!!
Excellent information Jimmy and entertaining. You stay down on the ball when you swing easy.
Remember the French golfer who lost the Open Championship on the 18th hole. He went back
with a camera crew and teed off with a putter and if he would have used putter he would have
won the tournament.
Thats how you play the game. Distance is just an option not a requirement.
Love it. This is take it easy Golf. Prefer this to blasting my way round as hiking up big scores.
This is a great way to play. It keeps things under control.
It’s easy for me to pick the right club for each shot:
1. Know my average distances for each club.
2. Get the distance I want to hit.
3. Factor in the lie, wind, uphill/downhill etc. and add/subtract club selection.
4. Pick the right club after all that.
5. Then take one more club!
Love it. Smooth it out
Thank you Jimmy
You got it! Thanks for watching. New video coming sunday
Great video, as always Jimmy
Thanks for watching
CANNONBALL!! Well Done Jimmy
Thanks for watching jakob!
Another great video. Been using these methods and have consistently been shooting under 100 from the blues now! Got my buddies watching too! 😅
I love to hear that!! Stay smooth. Thanks for watching
Hey Jimmy another great show!!!! You said you’re not that good at golf to get so mad. I like that, my Son told me Dad “we all suck at golf” lol and he’s a scratch golfer. Thanks for all your advice. I enjoyed watching your Golf my way video.
Thank you for supporting. Im glad you like it
I just found your page from watching Sidekick's videos. You just gained a new subscriber, my friend.
Hit it on the grass... what a concept. My next round is gonna be nothing but a smooth tempo without any urge to try and kill the ball. I'm sure it's going to be a very good round.
love to hear it. let me know how it goes. thanks for watching
Early 2023 my handicap was 21, today it’s 14.3, my goal is single figures this year, ideally before my 61st birthday in August….looking forward to what you have to say Jimmy 😉
(Edit) great concept mate, you are in perfect agreement with the Golf Sidekick….he’s a hilarious TH-camr from Lithuania who lives in Malaysia….check him out!
thanks for watching. if you want the handicap to go even lower. be an assassin from inside 100 yards. your scores will drop quick
Golf Sidekick is the best.
A piece of advice that helped me with longer putts was: Find your line, then find something midway between you and the hole that is in your line. Aim at that when you putt. That helped me a ton in either making putts or at least ending up at a distance from the hole that was basically a tap in
Great video, great logic, Jimmy your the best, one of my favorites.
Thank you again Bill!!
You had me at Miller High Life.
love it! champagne of beers
Sage wisdom Jimmy, love it!
Thanks for watching
Snuck in that par 5 putt back door nicely. Played golf for over 50 years. That par 5 was pretty much hazardous free, especially around the green. My strategy; I try to smash a long drive, then sneak a 5 wood on the green or a short pitch. Then maybe up n down? Par is the max. These types of par 5’s allow one mistake and you can still make par. I have more fun playing like this and it’s a challenge. Plus I don’t get paid to play so I go birdie hunting on that par 5. IMO.
Great. Funny. Golf is such a mental game.
100% mental. thanks for watching. www.tropicanagolfshop.com - jimmy
You're a cool Dude Jimmy. I like your logic for golf, it makes sense and it works. I'm going to start using this common sense format. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks 🙏👍
I love the jacuzzi metaphor
You got it! TROPICANA HOT TUB TIME
Looking cool helps you play cool too. The more I watched the more coolness appeared. The shirt, the cap, the shades... those shoes! Wait...ees dat a Manolo putting cover?!?! Dassit!!!!
PS thanks, going to try my best to apply this method. 😊
Like the video. I will try this next time I go play
awesome! thanks for watching. www.tropicanagolfshop.com - jimmy
I have to remind myself every ball, to ‘stop trying to hit the ball hard, just hit it!’
Now I’m going to try to ‘stop trying hit the ball, just swing the club’
thanks Jimmy.
Just swing the club my friend
Top video Jimmy, thanks.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment
Hey Jimmy I'm a fan would love to see a video on the equipment you use to film, how you do it, how you edit etc. keep em coming bro!
Haha. If I show you how I film things? How will I film it? Lolol. Its an iphone and a $12 tripod from amazon with some wireless mics. No editing, no tricks. What you see is what you get partna’. Thanks for watching
@@TropicanaEntertainment love it right on my man 👍
Thank you bro your advice it works just swing smooth on the grass no hard swing just like you like that thank yah Bro
I actually laughed.... "Be cool" .."Can I have a beer"?
Champagne of beers! 🍻
Great video, wisdom!
Thanks for watching
Hello welcome to the Jacuzzi thanks for not making a splash 😂
Great video Jimmy, I'll make sure to re-watch this video before every round. Thanks brotha!!!
Thanks for watching. Good luck. Stay smooth
Excellent comedy sir .. ..😂🎉
You're the kind of person that would be great to play golf with. My club is a Tilinghast course. Anytime in New York, let me know.
Came for the golf, stayed for the fashion.
Great " Mind " lesson ! Good Job , bro..
Thanks for watching. Glad its working for you
I wish every new or high handicap golfer would watch this video
Me too!!! Thanks for watching
