I just got mine 2 weeks ago. That same week I had a new client call me for a job….they paid for half of my FX-6 from that gig. I love the camera and it’s going to be with me along with my FX-3 as a B-Cam for all my gigs. Great job on explaining the differences from the mirrorless hybrids and an actual cinema camera. Also the price differences with the accessories.
love your videos man, legit the first video I have commented on in years. I love how you talk like a regular guy and even somethings when speaking you show the hesitation and though process when saying something, seems more humaan and conversational compared to some of these corporate seemings guys. keep it up man!
I have been looking for a beginner’s video for the FX6 for so long. Rented it 6 mos ago and had to figure much of this out myself. Renting again this week. So helpful. Thx for taking the time to make it!
great video. Quick question, what codec do you tend to shoot when matching these three? I use an FX6 and need to purchase a good B camera but I noticed the FX3 doesn't shoot XAVC-I, only XAVC S-I. What is the difference between XAVC S-I and XAVC-I? Can they be graded the same / SLOG3? Thank you
XAVC-I on the FX6 is the same as XAVC-SI on the FX3. Just think about it as XAVC-All Intra (XAVC-I, XAVC-SI) and XAVC-Lossy (XAVC-L, XAVC-S, and lastly XAVC-HS, which is just higher compression)
Good stuff. I’ve been waiting on my order since November 2021! I’ve rented it a ton for larger jobs. Sony rep says December arrival but can’t explain why they stopped making it.
Thanks. The fx3 is a very capable camera. I have one as well, and I use it as much as the FX6. Check out my latest video. I added the tilta mirage matte box with VND to my fx3 setup and it’s pretty awesome.
Thinking about getting this cameras because everyone else in the business has one and for quite a few jobs a Sony is specifically asked for. Nonetheless, as a BM user, I find Sony cine cams unnecessarily complicated - there's way too many factors to get your head around easily. I'm sure I could do it, but I sometimes wonder why BM can make it so simple and Sony can't and yet there seems to be no particular advantage to this complexity! The one thing I would really love on the Fx6 is the ND - there is no doubt that that does make life a lot easier.
You are absolutely right sir, they are not the same camera not even close, I have a7s3 and fx6, they have not a damn thing same except the sensor. If someone like camera and film some stuff for fun definitely go for a7s3 or fx3, fx6 take a lot more work to do in front and in post.
question, so it looks like right now the FX6 is about $6,000. can you tell me about the estimate cost of the other needed gear - mics, mounts, lenses that one would need to buy in addition to operate this camera? not the extra things, but just the other things that is necessary. would it be an additional $3K - $5K? Thanks
Lens could be like $2-10K depending on the lens, A lens I like is literally $8K. As for mic anywhere from $100-$2k ish depending on style and quality of the mic. I use boom mics for filmmaking on a pole with a long XLR cable and have someone operate that and just do audio alongside the video from a single mic that is like $1000 for that mic and boom pole and cable were like $150.
Such an especially video about the fx6 👏👏 now I understand the CineEI mode 😂 but where can I find the aperture meter? Sub from a little but motivated german Fx6 filmer 💪🏼 lokking forward to see more fx6 films 🎥
@@ConnorRickey even more than when I made this video. I’ve been absent from making videos for awhile because I’ve been busy using my FX6 on some professional projects. It’s an amazing camera that continues to exceed my expectations.
Your point of view is actually much more precise than many videos out there, great job man!!!
Wow thanks for the kind words

Great content, I really want an FX6, but knowing my luck Sony will replace it the day after I get it. Have you heard of any new FX6 news?

Great video. Could you share the link for Exposure Index you mentioned a few times. Alister Chapman’s. I couldn’t find it by searching.

It's an amazing camera that has exceeded my expectations
Great layman's breakdown!. Please normalize your ending music to a reasonable volume, though. That was shockingly loud.
Thanks. Sorry about the music. I'll fix that in future videos
