I've been pretty excited for Chinese. I hate people are using EE as an example of why they don't want it in retold... new team, new game, new faction.. give them a chance.
because the EE version is terrible, has bugs and the presentation is soulless compared to other faction. The chinese faction was created years after the original Titan Expansion, so it was developed by another whole set of team (and you know what happen when newbie devs try to keep up with the old one) Now is their second chance to upped the quality of the chinese, and by its trailer, I'd say it's a lot of improvement.
It's worth noting it's not entirely a 'new team' - Forgotten Empires worked on Tale of the Dragon (it was like, their first ever project) and they're also one of the lead developers for this game. That being said, Forgotten Empires at the time was just a small group of modders who were given basically no support from Microsoft, so I have faith in them this time.
Just seeing the trailer was enough to convince me that it will be done well. Though I wonder, since this is an expansion, does it mean that we'll see new gods for older pantheons, like we did with Freyr.
I think that's the long term monetization strategy if the game does well. Similiar to how AoE2 continually released new civs in DLCs, I think Godpacks will be the equivalent for AoM.
I was shocked by the trailer, I honestly thought it would just be a reskin, no no, they have clearly done so much, I hope teh campaign is long, to this day (I played on oroginal release) the Fall Atlantis campaign was hands down the best rts campaign I have ever played.
The Chinese should get Favor from farming, building stuff (but there’s a delay if you delete your own building or something), and maybe you gain a small trickle of Favor from all your active heroes and Scholars. That would reflect Chinese values more than just generic Gardens.
Jiangshi were insane, lmao. They had identical stats to the Scorpion Man but with the lifesteal effect of the Troll on all their attacks. Their 'special' also gave them 100% lifesteal for a few seconds and by the time it ended the 'special' was back - the result was that a single Jiangshi could tank basically anything in the game because they were immediately healing back any damage they received, it was ridiculous. However, consider yourself lucky you never encountered the original War Salamander and Vermillion Bird. At-release the Heroic-Age War Salamander could 1v1 any other Myth Unit in the game and take down an entire fleet by itself whilst also being amphibious and cheap. Meanwhile the Vermillion Bird's attack used to be glitched wherein the 'projectile' would apply its damage several-dozen times a second without any delay meaning that a single Vermillion Bird could destroy a TC or kill a Titan within a couple of seconds. The lack of playtesting with that DLC was *insane*, lmao. I don't think it was even intentional P2W, it's more that Skybox never bothered testing anything. I remember watching a stream the day before release where the devs 'previewed' the game and they all admitted it was their first time playing it and they had no idea what anything did. Skybox not being involved in Retold is the best thing that could have happened to the game - I 100% stand-by my beliefs that they were a company of scammers, honestly.
Perhaps instead of Fuxi, Shennong and Nuwa, they can change it to: Fuxi (and/or Nuwa) to represent folk Jade Emperor to represent Daoism Guan Yin to represent Buddhusm
I don't think we will get gunpowder stuff, as so far all the units, and heroes, we can see look roughly analogous to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms period. Not exact, but it looks like that was the focus and went outwards from there. Also it does seem like there is an amphibious unit in the trailer; the Black Turtle. It's usually depicted with a snake coiled around its shell, and you can see that in the boat scene, and you can see it waddling behind the Chinese titan (Xingtian) at one stage.
Hopefully if they reintroduce Amphibious units they take steps to fix the horrendous pathing-glitches that class introduced. Even now in Extended Edition they haven't fixed the problems it caused regarding units refusing to through friendly gates or treating destroyed buildings as though they're still an 'obstruction.

Oh yeah definitely!

We can only hope

Yeah I’m sure we will!

My suggestion was to have 'festivals' to generate favor. Each major god has a unique festival that provides a passive bonus in addition to favor.
Whatever it takes to balance them
Yeah it’s not a bad idea! Just need something better than the gardens I think
@Widgie Agreed. The gardens feel too much like the AoE3 Japanese Shrines.
As a brazillian, seeing LUCASBRENO saying "VC QUE NAO SABE JOGAR" was very funny to me
Jiangshi are the Chinese versions of vampires. They don't really hover around, but actually hop around. And are usually consider evil and bad.
Jingshi is Chinese version of zombie.

Nope
Strictly Taoist
Jade Emperor / Yudi, Xiwangmu, Dongwanggong, Houtu Niangniang
Store page for the expansion lists Nüwa, Chiyou, Nüba and Linglong.
I hope they completely redo the campaign and include the other pantheons in the story. Get rid of gardens!
Based on the teaser trailer that seems to be the case. We see new campaign heroes, new gods & what seems to be a new campaign titan.
The original Chinese expansion in the old game was a greedy cheaply made cash grab akin to hot diarreaha in a cup pretending to be apple cider.
Oh yeah I’m not denying that however they had some good foundational ideas

Amphibious units were shown in the trailer
The 'black tortoise' with the serpent wrapped around it.
Yeah I know
I hope they add a fourth god to the rest of the pantheons as well as the chinese
Yeah I’m sure they will!
6:45 The norse have an instant kill myth unit? What is it?
I believe it's the Kraken which can grab land units and insta kill ships with its special attack.
Kraken.
@@Tyraniczny616 OHHHHH...
when is Japanese ?
🤷
Not really interested in the Chinese at all. Give us something else.
