This guide format is the best i have seen in RTS ever. I started playing AoM Retold with a friend (I play Aoe2 and he plays Aoe3+4) and we were both kinda lost since all BOs out there are just the start, only 4-5 minutes of gamplay. In Age of Empires games we see longer BOs, like 10 min videos. But the fact that you do 5-7 min Build AND a Game Review is insane AoM is a complex game with a lot of info and this work you are doing is just incredible. Thank you man, this is great
I totally agree. The strategic analysis with the game review is a lot of compressed knowledge and helps understand decision making. @Harahgon If you have some free time take a look at aomheaven.com. It has a lot of strategy stuff for the previous version of AOM. I understand that the game will be different, but some things will be the same. Some strategies will persist into Retold and the basic concepts of the game are still the same. Like Map Control, Gold starving, scouting just to name a few. Also if the web site starts to get updated with strategies with the new Retold it will be a gold mine.
I need to commend you for the outstanding work you’re doing with your guides. Your expertise and the clarity of your explanations are exceptional and have been crucial for my progress in the game. While I mainly play as the Greeks, I’ve gained immense value from your guides on other factions. A dedicated guide for the Greeks would be extremely beneficial for many players, including myself. Your impact on the audience is significant, and a Greek guide would undoubtedly be another major success. Thank you for consistently delivering top-quality content. Keep up the excellent work!
I agree, Magic has been one of my favorite RTS players for a long time and I'm thrilled to see him making educational content like this. Let's go Magic, keep up the great work!
Again great build. Thx for that :) Since i watch all your build videos i will copy this comment on the others so you have more youtube algorithm attention. And ofc i like all them
Mic sound perfect! And I really, really enjoy those BO, even if I don't play these civilisation. And what I love to watch even more is your review + explanation. I really find them super entertaining and informative. Thank you a lot!
What I love is you read every comment. You genuinely want this game to get popular and to help players out. I’ve loved AOM since I was a kid. But I wasn’t anything special at it. I was a decently strong player but my APM was always my weakest point or my decision making on when to push and not push. I play a bit more defensive then you do so it probably make sense it wouldn’t be my strong suit. What inspired you to make content on TH-cam and to help out other players? Knowing full well you could just keep all that knowledge for yourself and climb the leader boards.
I’m enjoying the interaction to be honest, I’ve been a top competitive for most of my gaming career and I’ve enjoyed it - but as cheesy as it sounds, I find helping others and reading about their happy moments just as gratifying as me winning a game by myself
first time viewer but I have heard about you from Boit. I heard you loud and clear without having to adjust my settings (but as this is my first view, I don't know if it's better or not than before). great video, thanks for the build, but mostly, thanks for the insight on the strategic part and logic behind everything
DUDE i needed this video!! i just bought the new AOM the other day and im getting SMACKED online lol i havent played since aom Titans so im rusty but this video will help me decrease the skil gap between me and my opponents. Thanks brotha!
Thanks for the free game. The tip about not taking the fight 16:50 is golden. I would've taken that fight 100% and lost half my army plus given him for free myth units.
Ty Magic for your lovely explaination. If it's possible I hope you'll do a full Freyr guide like you did here. I love Norse I and want to be better with all of them.
What a great insight on strategy ! I'm going to start playing Odin. Question, how many trade caravans, gatherers and dwarves should be used at a late game?
very enjoyable to watch this is exactly what I needed starting to play this game vs friends online and been trying to figure out how to proceed. But was thinking about early raiding with berserkers with the tech from Odin that boosts attack based on missing HPs but I see you dont even produce berserkers much do you
Great channel and great content always. Have been watching your recorded games for years. How can we watch new recorded games from aom retold? I used to use rts sanctuary
There’s a replay folder in your steam files, I explained it in a different video, you can download recs from aom.gg - however replay files are a bit glitched right now
I really like the setting to autoqueue villigers at the start of the game, as it really helps if you have a delay loading in. Is there a way to automatically queue a dwarf right off the bat?
Thanks for this it’s a very good explanation of Odin + how the game works at the elite level. Noobs question - around 15:08 you quickly separated cavalry from throwing axmen, is there a button to separate them quickly when they’re all highlighted? I end up having to click unit by unit costing a lot of time
hey there's a setting to 'use ctrl as a double click' in the settings menu. so what i do is i press ctrl and left click a unit it and automatically selects all units of that type. give it a try and let me know if it works for you!
how do you approach booming? I've been playing duo with a friend and he just booms while I go full aggro. Most of the times the other opponent rescues his teammate and I struggle while my partner reaches mythic age and 3 TC booms and he just stomps both of them at that point. But when I've tried to boom on my own I can never mass resources because I need to produce so much army all the time. Is there like a proper strat to not go full army and just try to survive and build eco like in AoE2? or is this just not a tactic at all here? Thanks great guides btw I only started wrecking opponents after going through this vid.
I think you'll benefit from Hades a lot, he has a great defensive age 1 god power that will allow you to stay defended so you can skip a bit of the army, Egyptians also get free towers, Set for example can even get an animal army so you can boom happily without being worried
@@IamMagicAOM thanks bud. I'm just having trouble transitioning out of a norse classical push when you dont finish them off Also lost to a zeus spamming hippokons even with upgraded hirdmen
What’s your opinion on the game so far? I’m worried Norse is going to be struggling again like most other versions, Greek and set especially have established superiority again and quickly. I’ve been getting smashed off centaur/mino rush as Norse! And early Kronos. I’m not too great as a player but I can normally get 4 minute advance times and micro aswell as your average player and I can only do well again Greek rush and set rush if I turtle hard but then I feel strangled

@@IamMagicAOM That would be massively appreciated. I love throwing-axemen but the fact they count as infantry means counter infantry really hinders the Norse. I havent found a way around this either. And the fact that a lot of norse units are slow makes things even more difficult

For Greeks you have been Missing Hades i think and you put Zeus and Poseidon in same video is that cause you think they are totally similar or just they are too easy and they don't deserve there own videos ? :P
hey guys, let me know if the mic sounded ok in this one.
also yeah I messed up the math at some points, ignore that :D
Mic sounded crisp, Odins definitely one of the most fun and versatile gods. Ravens are clutch
Mic was fine :)
The mic sounded fine. Nice video, very useful for someone who is new to the game. I played AoM when it came out but only the campaign.

Definitely full pop of vills, trading caravans it depends but around 15 or so does the job most games

If the game goes longer who do you typically pick for your age 3 and 4 deity?
it all depends on the match up really, but ring giver on Njord is great for late game
