Can I just say, I really love how zoomed in and close you are to your face. Like I love seeing your foundation and texture, like how your makeup sits on your face/ I’m so over watching videos with filters and blurs, because then I go and try on makeup and get frustrated it doesn’t look like that. So I really appreciate you, truly
No music. No clichè cheesy intro. Talks to us like we're on the same page, not like you're trying to sell us something. Dude this video was EVERYTHING ; I can't even explain how amazing you are at your craft
you're literally one of my favourite makeup channels because the way you explain stuff is so comprehensive - my makeup has gotten so much more creative and experimental thanks to you ☺
Exactly. She gets right to it, talks about every detail we need to know, and gets us in close to show us what we need to see. No one does it better. Thank you, Alex!! 👏👏👏❤️
@@hechetonchieres well, honestly…I felt like I looked like someone trying to hard, if that makes sense. I just try and keep in mind, Jennifer Aniston might not be able to pull this off either. Sticking to my small flick of a wing and I’ve got to keep the under eye a little lighter. Thanks for asking! 🤗
People who say you don't have hooded lids need to watch 3:13 b/c (and this is not me trying to point out what some might consider a "flaw") I have the exact same type of lid. It is hooded. As in - part of it folds overtop the lower bit to form a slight, but definitely distinct, hooded appearance. This is why I love seeing your eye looks! I feel like eyes are kind of your thing (I mean all makeup is kinda your thing tbh, but the eyes are where you really *shine* ) and it's very helpful to see someone with *HOODED EYES* work with makeup. We gotta do things a lil differently, us semi-hooded/not-considered-hooded gals.
i love how not only calm you are but also entertaining and educational at the same time! a lot of people on here lack that. they usually fake energy and come off too loud and eccentric and somehow still fail to grasp my attention. and so i appreciate you! and you have a new sub!
Shadow liner and shadow wings are soooooo much more my style than the liquid sharp liner look. This I can handle. I got those micro eyeliner pencils and they help so much to sketch the shape and help me get them where I need them. Love. Love. The different shades add so much. Brown for fall. Navy blue. Gray. Omg endless possibilities. Fucking love.
I have watched a number of videos just so some technique clicks to me so a blurry winged liner looks easy to do, and yours was THE one! (And believe me I've watched a tonne...) Somehow every single step looks doable and logical. Thank you, so very much. Very much enjoyed the simplicity of the video too, in a sea of music and fancy lights and product sponsorship.
I rarely comment any videos, but I realize I should because I am truly AMAZED every time I watch YOUR videos. You are my absolute favorite (I found your channel a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier). Thank you for your wonderful tips and skills.
I have hooded eyes. Sharp feline winged liner has always been hit or miss. Smokey liner has always been foolproof for me and it looks so much more complimenting on my hooded eyes
This could be the answer to what the hell I can do with my now crepey (seemed to happen over night) eyelids that isn't so stark and the damn liner can't spider out and show every little crepe and line.... TY ❤❤
Could you please do a tutorial on how to make cheap/ drugstore eyeshadow pop, even if it's quite a few years old. Would love to get tips on how to make drugstore and even old eyeshadow products (like my chocolate orange Revolution palette) more bold like the current eye makeup trends.
I love: (1) didn't smoke the bottom lashes... looks sooo good the way you did it, and (2) that you use Hindash's palette. I still don't have his, because I'm a little intimidated but the more I see you and other traditionally trained artists now makeup artists using it.... it makes me think about being more of a painter :-)
I just started to use facecharts to train creativity. It is so much fun to use every powder I own and my mu-brushes just on paper faces, yeah like a painter. And it is really good training also for mu on real faces.
Best I’ve seen. I adore this look. Unfortunately, I have hooded lids and it never seem to look quite right on me. If I didn’t, this would be my “go to” look.
I do too. Try going not over your natural crease with your line in an upward ankle but just outward in an horizontal line and smaller flick, should work with a little training and same style as Alex does here.
Absolutely 🔥 🔥🔥 Girl your skills are magical. ❤️ I’m recovering from Upper eyelid surgery and am so excited about wearing wings again! The hoods, loose skin and fat pads had gotten out of hand and were only going to get worse. Make up is such therapy for me and I’m not ready to lose the dramatic eye looks yet. ☺️
My hubby is gonna love this look on me - he's always banging on about sultry black eye looks. I love this look too but I've never quite mastered it. I can't wait to try this technique and, fingers crossed, create a "sultry, black eye look", 😉💗💗
Beauty youtuber that actually shows unique makeup techniques instead of only doing product reviews with the same unwearable drag looks AND is unproblematic? Impossible 🦄
I kinda layered my liner today. I used this royal blue shadow to smoke out my upper and lower lash line and then used a navy liquid liner. But I love how that brown and black looked together. I usually use one color or the other depending on how dramatic my look is. This really helped fine tune some things I was trying to do already. I love the look of some really precise eyeliner but I do my make up on public transportation so I tend to go no liner or a smoky liner. I have to admit you are totally one of my style icons. I got inspired by your hair and cut my waist long hair into a pixie cut. I even have had my hair platinum for a while. I love color too much and change my color like once a month, I have a lovely periwinkle shade currently.
I’ve been taking a Smokey gray-black (mainly using the darkest color in the UD Naked Basics 2 palette) with a flimsy wing liner brush and hold the brush horizontally like when you are lining your lash line and then flick it up in the angle you want the wing. With the brush I use with the longer bristles, it kind of makes the wing shape for me. I make sure to line my lash line with the shadow first so there is less product on the brush before flicking it out. I then take a small blending brush (I use the morphe M562 brush) with no product on it and fade the top of it out and to blend it out as I have hooded eyes so when I flick it skips a little. I’ll sometimes add more of the shadow with the liner brush on the bottom of the wing to intensify before using some moisturizer on a morphe M432 brush to clean up the underside of the wing (tip I learned from Katie Jane Hughes). I do my eye makeup first so you can also use concealer if you do face first. I’ve gotten this Smokey wing process down so that I can do both eyes with shadow in the crease and lid in under a few minutes for my everyday Smokey wing. This is just another method I use so maybe it could be useful for some of y’all. I do find it looks crazy up until I clean it up with the moisturizer on the brush and add mascara and then it looks great! Great video as always and I’ll be trying it out also as I’ve never thought to use a brown liner first to help with the fade!
I really love this. There is something so exotic and yet familiar (like reminiscent to the 60s) about the color, shape and depth of this. Definitely going to try it. The colors are literally perfect and they are almost 3D, really cool effect.
I really love the eye make up, like the way the wings look so beautiful yet you don’t have to worry that ur eyeliner is different each other cause they’re just too pretty.
Omg wtf I've been trying to do this look for the past two days 😂 just what I needed because I have failed miserably. I can never get it to look soft and blended out how I want it 🥺
I am so gonna try this look, stunning! Also, sometimes my eyelids peel like this and I use aquaphora and leave it overnight, it works everytime. Keep serving the looks!
I love that look. I would never have been brave enough to try it but I will now. I especially like how the outline at the start looked really weird but once you filled it in it looked amazing! I always chicken out at the outline stage thinking I have got it wrong. Thx heaps.

FOR REAL!!!! It's lovely seeing reality and her confidence
yes!!!
Same…… I just love watching her face
You said its not your strong suit - comes out iconic anyway. The deception 😂
I got lucky this time 😂
Right? Stunning.
This looks so realistic considering how big the wing is!
🙏🏼❤️
Yes! It's a large wing but it still looks somehow natural. It's a gorgeous understated statement.

Stunning! Being 58 with hooded eyes and someone who has never succeeded in doing a winged eye I am going to give this a go! Wish me luck.

😂
