“I had to face my fears, that was much more important than just going on” the 3rd Doctor’s final words. They meant a lot the 7 year old I was when Jon Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker
I love how David Tennant's regeneration was so violent and drawn-out it almost destroyed the TARDIS, but Smith's was like "Oops, I farted and now I have a new face."
Well he had just regenerated on top of the clock tower. He had essentially regenerated all the way, but was just holding the body change back to give Clara time to see him once more. Once he stopped holding it back, he just snapped right into the new body.
He hadnt just taken it in, he went and saw everyone off first, saved sarah jones kid from a car, knocked out a sontaran to save mickey and martha, passed a winning lottery ticket to donna, plus other goodbyes and only then did he let the radiation kill him
The reason for the fast regeneration, if you were listening is because he already let out a lot of regeneration energy and it reset his body to be younger, he stopped the process for a bit most likely so Clara could say goodbye. Then he didn't have a lot more regenerating to do so it was just a quick flash.
Pat Troughton's Doctor is an interesting Doctor. It is the only regeneration that was not shown to the point that we didn't see who the new Doctor was going to be . After the Time Lords moved the second Doctor to the TARDIS, they sent him directly to Earth. We're supposing that the shock of regenerating to Jon Pertwee caused Pat to lie down on the TARDIS floor while the regeneration completed itself...
As everyone says stuff about tenannt and Matt Smith's regeneration, I think Eccleston's was great, his final line "So was I" wasn't out of sadness or fear, it was the doctor finally loving himself and maybe forgiving himself just a bit over the time war. It was such a beautiful moment, gives me chills every time.
My headcanon is that the regeneration takes progressively more energy the more regenerations are carried out. Hence why the early regenerations are quite serene. From the 7th into 8th doctor onwards, energy discharges start and increase in intensity up until 10th-11th where the Tardis is damaged by the regeneration and 11ths regeneration in Trenzalor was so big that he shouldn't have survived it (blowing up most of the town of Christmas and a Dalek battleship in the process). Then the 11th-12th's real regeneration was instant and low-energy. This would also explain the Master's appearance in the old series when he regenerated once too many times, turning into a burned husk. I hope the trend becomes canon when Capaldi hangs up his rather excellent jacket and serenely transitions to lucky number 13.
I think it could work either way with Capaldi to whoever will be 13 either being a calm regeneration or even more explosive, since yes it is an early regeneration in a new cycle but then again that cycle shouldn't have existed in the first place so maybe it will still end up using _a lot_ of regeneration energy. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out. I think you're right, though. However, why are the other Time Lords regenerating in similar manners now (I suppose at this point all of the other Time Lords are also in their later regenerations, so let's just excuse it that way)? The only thing that might make this theory invalid is how River only had maybe (3?) Regenerations yet they all occurred in similar manners to The Doctor in his late ones. But again, she was also an anomaly, so maybe it works like that. Idk, I get way into these sometimes.
The high energy regenerations began with Mc Gann drinking the Sisterhood of Karn's mixture into a Doctor much better suited mentally and emotionally to be a War Doctor. The excess energy after that regeneration did not exhaust itself until Matt's regeneration to Perter C...
I think you're neglecting the movie (which is canon now) and 6-7. 6-7 was the first to have a kind of wavy-line effect eminating from his face which is reminiscent of the later transitions (in reality this was done to hide the fact that Colin Baker refused to return for his regeneration scene, making Sylvester McCoy the only person to play two separate incarnations of the Doctor!). But more troubling to your idea is the energy discharges that occur with 7-8 in the movie. Now of course, you could explain each individual change as a one-off. So there are electrical discharges in 7-8 because the doctor was accidentally electrocuted before his delayed regeneration. 8 to War was energetic due to the Sisterhood's mixture, War to 9 was the same as 9 to 10 (give or take) as they were both "standard" despite the latter being due to absorbing the energy of the time vortex (!), 10-11 was highly energetic, damaging the Tardis because 10 didn't want to go and 11 to 11 (reset) was explosive just because that's what resets are like but I think my explanation of a trend of increasingly energetic transitions is simpler and answers more questions (like why there is a limit in the first place - which is now explicitly biological and not imposed by Timelord society.). But that's just me!
coldfission: Baker didn't refuse to return fir the regeneration. He said that he would only do it if he could have a final story to lead up to it rather than cameo his own death scene (not exactly a big ask). The producers said they would get back to him and the next he heard about it was when he watched his own regeneration on TV.
"I don't wanna go..." he said that because he misses the face that Rose fell in love with. If he regenerated, then he would have forgotten about her 😭😭😭😭😭
"You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I." Yes you were! I feel like poor Nine just doesn't get enough love methinks. :-(
I really loved the 9th Doctor’s regeneration into the 10th Doctor because I felt like it wasn’t too sad and it actually made me feel happy for him on the inside! Also fun fact: I actually used the 9th Doctor’s quote before he regenerated “Before I go…I just want to say you were fantastic” in my senior collage in my high school yearbook!
@@skulduggerypleasant6439 Lol kid you just learned how to make a comment? Stop having a seizure. DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT that when he commented it was less than 10 years ago. Yeah, it's older than you so it means you lose your head, but shush please 🤣
I imagine he'll regenerate at the end of the season, or during the 2017 Christmas special. It feels like Matt just regenerated, I don't want Peter to go so soon.
I reckon he could stay a bit longer. The others were younger actors who didn't want to be type casted and would like to move forward with their careers. Capaldi is already a well established actor who has a big legacy behind him before Doctor Who so he really has no reason to leave so long as he's enjoying it.
I don't want him to go too soon. A good four or five season stretch would be great. I hope the "three and gone" thing doesn't become a hard rule. Vary it; some one-to-two years, some three-to-four years, and occasionally a five-to-six year run. Much more than that may be too long. Even Baker got old after a while.
I adore McGann's regeneration scene. He has always been my favourite Doctor, and that crucial final scene was LONG overdue. I love how utterly broken his Doctor is by the end. For my favourite regeneration scene? It might actually be Troughton's. Currently, anyway. I just love how his Doctor sacrificed so much - his friendship with his companions, his freedom, his very life - just to make sure that he did the right thing. It's an incredible exit, and one key reason why The War Games is one of my favourites.
"You're gonna have a great year" should have been his last words. I don't wanna go was so cheesy and the look on Tennants face sold it alone. It was even worse when they brought that line back in the 50th anniversary.
but tenant really didn't want to go. tenant loved being the doctor and has been quoted saying i had to go because if i didn't they'd be wheeling me out of the tardis.
kyle hubner So when Peter Capaldi regenerates he better look straight into the camera and say "I'm a DW fan and I'm glad to have played the Doctor. Goodbye"
Love the 4th Doctor's regeneration. His parting statement is grandiose for a colossal character. Plus the synth background music on it is superb and indicative of the sounds on BBC sci-fi shows in the early 80's on kids shows & HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
I was so sad when David Tennant left Doctor Who, but then I loved so much Matt Smith, he is still one the my favourites, both David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston. They're all fantastic!!! ❤
Have you notice that the regeneration process gets more powerful as the doctor reaches the end of the cycle, and resets to being unnoticeable at the beginning as William Hartnell?
Official RqX Aka John Møller Yeah,I hope that was intentional,I'm not a super big lore person, but that might be the reason time lords can't regenerate that much, the energy might destroy a planet or something. But idk
I'm sorry, unnoticable? Did you see what 12th did to the poor TARDIS she really should leave a note, go outside to regenerate, I'm sick of redecorating!!!
His regenerations seem to get more and more violent with each one, untill he gets his new cycle, and has simultaneously one of his strongest and weakest ones.
Depends. The original explanation of what he was was the Doctor's final incarnation, going back to try and take his past self's regenerations, paradoxes be damned. But in the story it was written that he's a 'distillation of the Doctor's evil between his 12th and 13th incarnations (2nd Tennant regeneration and Smith)
I loved his run as the Doctor, and I was prepared to despise Matt Smith for taking over the roll. But he won me over in just a few episodes. Still, my favorite has to be the one I grew up with. Tom Baker will always be the Doctor to me :)
I liked how the transition from 10-11, which should have been his final regeneration, was so explosive, and then his first regeneration into his new regeneration cycle was so quick, like they hit a reset button on him.
"Before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic...absolutely fantastic! And you know what? So was I!" Something about Eccleston's final lines hit me hard, especially knowing that he left because of creative rifts.
So much. It's a philosophy, it's a model telling you how life is and how to accept it the best way you can. It's a constant social lesson and a brilliant dream maker. It changes lives, it changed mine.
I'm so happy that this series is now 53 years old! This series that is completely fantastic! That in addition to telling stories, also teaches us lessons of love, friendship, and kindness. Doctor Who thanks for everything! And I hope it comes many more years ahead! #DoctorWhoDay
@@Alectron8 Oh yeah right I’m supposed to like the same things as everyone else right? So let me get this straight: 1- David Tennant is the best Doctor (which he isn’t) 2- Series 11 is awful (not awful just different) 3- Classic Doctor Who is boring (which REALLY isn’t) 4- Amy Pond is the best companion in New Who (I honestly prefer Donna or Clara anyday of the year) Sorry not sorry man but I stand my ground! The 10th Doctor is overrated and the 12th and 1st Doctor are MY definitive Doctors for me!
Despite even being a Classic Who fan, Tennant's regeneration is the most heart breaking. I can barely tell if his acting is fantastic, or if he's not acting at all and really just doesn't want to leave the show...
Roberto Goulart Who keeps calling them by those numbers anyway? It was clarified 2 years ago, even in the video, that is from an official channel, the order still War-9-10-10-11-12 [aka the same thing it always was honestly]
It's always kind of annoys me that people overlook that the last thing the fifth Doctor says is "Adric...?" which really demonstrates that he never actually got over his failure to save Adric making his willingness to sacrifice himself for Peri that much more important. I rank it way, way above the full Tennant regeneration.
that was more in his mind. Like how Colin Baker in his regneration story for B.F. says "Our Future is in safe hands" even though offically in the same play is last words are "Who's There"
I completely agree with you man. Tennant's doctor got so self-absorbed. first, he literally regenerated into himself. and then when he did die, he went out like such a whiner 'waaah i don't want to go'. like i get it you're sad. but every other doctor died, and most of them died like real men. hartnell's last words: 'stay warm'. troughton was literally executed so i can't really blame him for being scared in that circumstance. pertwee went out trying to console sara: 'where there's life.. there's...' . I could go on about this forever. and yeah, what you said is another part of why the caves of androzani is so awesome. he goes out selflessly, not selfishly. tennant could have definitely learned more from his predecessor in timecrash. and that's why it bugs me when all the fan girls are like 'waaah it's sooo sad' whereas really they're just sad that their cutie died. but in the end they're not true whovians because they just can't appreciate what being the doctor is really all about.
Well he did know that the next regeneration would be his (at that time) last one, and only lived for 6 years compared to the however many that other doctors had, so I think at that point it's less a point of "I'm so great dont make me leave" and more a case of, as he said "I could do so much more"
I still think the first regeneration is FANTASTIC! I like all the others of course, but the first regeneration feels quite special to me as it was basically a sign indicating that Doctor Who would continue on.
Hey Rachel, we put a link to the full playlist at the end of the video so you can watch them all in full :) th-cam.com/play/PLKEzuOOEQvYPdlGwn1jbsVQeQdIrEo9oh.html

10th turning to 11th. It was so emotional and well written. I miss David and Matt played an excellent doctor. But David was the best of the new series.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me."
The Tenth Doctor's regeneration always hits different. It really felt like the fans emotions for David's departure were integrated into it. Meanwhile, I'll never forget how shook I was by Matt's snap change to Peter. (Don't) Blink and you'll miss it. 😅
Also I so wish that 11s was longer, it makes it emotional to see what the companion goes through during the whole thing and their reaction. Terrible they made it so short for such a good Doctor.
Actually 11's regeneration is the longest in all the series. The majority of it was shown while he was destroying the Daleks. The overall process was the longest but I can see why the quick transition after it all could make it seem like it was so little.
It was supposed to be a cocoon, like a catapillar turning into a butterfly. An early attempt at making the regeneration a bit more elaborate than just having a simple fade to a new actor.
The Watcher was a projection of the doctor a sort of embryonic fifth doctor. He waited and bided his time waiting for the fourth doctor to fall to the ground at the Pharos Project. Fourth knew his time was up and fifth knew his becoming was near. Also it's a sly reference to what the second doctor said to Ben. I'd like to see a butterfly fit back into it's chrysalis...
if you bothered to watch the episode, there was something following the doctor, when he fell off the telescope trying to stop the master from blowing something up, the thing following them was the next doctor. When Tom died he regenerated into his next form, that was the change
My favorite regeneration is Eccleston to Tennant. I think maybe because, even though it was sad, he kinda left me with a happy feel since he went out smiling after sacrificing himself to save someone he loved. It was truly romantic and I thought his last words did him perfect justice. On the other hand, I think my least favorite might actually be Tennant's to Smith's. Then again, maybe "least favorite" might not be the way to put it, because it wasn't as if it wasn't beautifully done or anything. It was just the hardest to watch. He went in tears after losing everyone he loved, frightened to regenerate for fear of what he would become. That tragedy is part of what makes him one of my favorite versions of the Doctor, but pretty much the entirety of The End of Time is excruciating.
Regardless of who's your favorite Doctor, I truly believe that 11th is the most emotional of them all. It's so well thought, brilliantly acted and it really portrays where the Doctor stands at this stage of his life, not only because the new regeneration cycle but also because he is much older and wiser yet still hopeful, that was the best about Matt's Doctor and Moffat really made him justice. Also, for the first time you can sense the actor saying goodbye to this wonderful character and universe that is truly bigger than any of them, which must be really hard, painfully so, and you can feel it in the speech and heartbreaking performance.
1. Davison - C.Baker. Dramatic, nostalgic, and uncertain. 2. Tennant - Smith. The RTD era is ending, but the show never ends. 3. T.Baker - Davison. Simply beautiful. 4. Eccleston - Tennant. Simple, elegant, and just nice. 5. Smith - Capaldi. It's a two-parter, something different, yet still profound. 6. McGann - Hurt. 17 year wait, didn't disappoint. Big Finish FTW. 7. Pertwee - T.Baker. Another beautiful, simple one. 8. Troughton - Pertwee. Traumatic and heartbreaking. 9. C.Baker - McCoy. The Brink of Death audio saved this regeneration from the bottom spot. His future is in safe hands, indeed. 10. Hurt - Eccleston. Convenient but lovely still. Wish Eccleston had actually been there to complete the scene. 11. Hartnell - Troughton. "It's far from being all over" gives me chills every time. 12. McCoy - McGann. The Frankenstein imagery is neat (especially given the Eighth Doctor's connection to Mary Shelley) but my favorite part of this regeneration is McCoy on the operating table, insisting that "I am not like you!" 13. Tennant - Tennant. Great cliffhanger, not very emotional or meaningful.
I disagree watch the whole entire Tennant- Smith... That one was rly emotional, not just it being the end of the RTD era, especially when he says "I don't want to go" im talking the WHOLE regeneration not just the final words- he was one of my favorites and if this was a list on best regenerations, i think ur no. 5 should be higher cause that whole speech was quite frankly amazing when he was talking about his past. Matt Smith, to me, had the best speeches out of most doctors.
Tbh the way I see it, the Tennant to Tennant regeneration was a wasted regeneration that also complicated the numbering system of the Doctors. Like, the War Doctor screwed up the numbering enough, having it be one off, but making Tennant's meta-crisis regeneration count just screwed it up even more. Like, why is the Twelfth Doctor really the fourteenth incarnation?
When 10 regenerated to 11, I didn't think Smith would turn out well as the Doctor, if you know what I mean. Boy was I wrong, he went from being a goofy wannabe to the man you think of when someone mentions Doctor Who. Thats my opinion anyway, anyone else agree?
Being a fan of Tennant's doctor isn't a case of fangirling, he was just brilliant in his own way, his last words suited his personality just the way it is. Fun, quirky, adventurous, he ran his course and he wanted to do so much more, he was alone with no one beside him, this version of the Doctor especially suffered serious relationship issues after the time war. Tenant made the Doctor relatable and that's why I liked him the most out of all the doctors. And I'm younger so I generally favour the post 2005 series, and 10 is my favourite. Capaldi for me is particularly unique but the writing by Moffat has made him a bit flat, you don't really get that stand out feature that Tennant and Smith had with their characters maybe the eyebrows haha.
also keep in mind he was only 10 for like 3 years, while he was matt for around 1300 years. Most doctors last a couple centuries, 10 accomplished so much in his 3 years, imagine what he would have accomplished if he had lived for 3 centuries.
Jake Bishop Thats one of the things i hate about moffat's run. his need to make the doctor ancient. I really hope that's something that gets retconned when the new guy takes over. Also less time paradoxes and no more "girls who waited" he did that trope at least 5 times.
Jake Bishop Yeah, that whole, pop in the TARDIS and next time you see him he said 300 years have passed while he worked on a problem.. just felt ugg to me
I still wish even now I could watch a massive reaction compilation of the original viewing of the first ever regeneration back in 1966. I've heard it astounded everyone beyond belief
I never really watched doctor who, but the 10th doctors regeneration really hits you with the feels. He definitely looks like he doesn't want to go away.
The 8th Doctor one represented a choice that came with great sacrifice because there was no choice when it came to the war that Doctor had to live with afterwards.
That's why Big Finish exists. They've been doing McGann stories since 2002, and as of the time I've written this comment they've released 3 out of their 4 planned box sets featuring John Hurt's War Doctor. I wish there was more planned for the War Doctor, though. They've been brilliant to listen to.
GoldenTalesGeek but I feel like you get a much better feeling with on screen stories it's like with comics reading them is great but something about a live action/cartoon film/tv show that brings the story and the visuals to live that I enjoy
I get that. I love visuals too, but sometimes audio stories can really fire up the imagination. I try to listen to a Big Finish audio or 2 while i'm editing my TH-cam videos, and I just love the ambitiousness in the storytelling.
There are so many of these videos that only show the regeneration itself. I was expecting the "Official" one to at least show us the moments leading up to each of the Doctor's deaths. It would be great for those unfamiliar with classic episodes to see some context. Still, the video presentation is great.
If you want context: 1) He seems unwell during the events of _The Tenth Planet_ then collapses. He says his body is "wearing a bit thin" meaning old age. 2) The events of _The War Games_ eventually result in the Doctor going to his as-yet-unnamed home planet, Gallifrey. He broke the rule of non-intervention, so the Time Lords force the Doctor to regenerate and exile him to Earth, where he remains stranded for some time. 3) The Doctor goes to confront the Great One, leader of the _Planet of Spiders,_ but is poisoned by radiation present in the caves. 4) After working together to stop the universe from decaying during _Logopolis,_ the Master tricks the Doctor into falling from the top of the radio telescope. 5) The Doctor and Peri are both infected with a disease in _The Caves of Androzani,_ but there is only one sample of the andidote, which the Doctor gives to Peri. 6) The TARDIS is struck by laser beams at the start of _Time and the Rani,_ and crashes, then the Doctor regenerates. No other explanation is given on-screen, although there is a Big Finish audio called _The Last Adventure_ which goes into more detail. 7) The Doctor is randomly shot by a street gang at the start of the TV Movie. Medical doctors attempt to operate, but make things worse as they are unfamiliar with his anatomy. Everything after that is the new series, and it sounds like you know that already.

I find the 9th & 10th Doctor's regeneration the most emotional. Probably because I grew up with those two doctors being on TV, and they were always my favourites.
The 3rd and 11th my Doctor's. I can not imagine my life without Doctor Who in it. I have other favorite shows, but I would not be complete without the Doctor.
You didn't show David Tennent shooting the regeneration energy into the hand in the tank, that could be confusing for people who didn't know he did that, they might think you put the same clip in twice or that he regenerated twice, but other than that, great video :)
Matt's and Christopher's regeneration were the saddest for me. For that once, before the ninth doctor regenerated, he then admitted that he was fantastic too, forgiving himself. And 11th accepted it, trying to remember all those who were valued to him in that life.
That "I don't wanna go" still gives me shivers

I hope the trend becomes canon when Capaldi hangs up his rather excellent jacket and serenely transitions to lucky number 13.
coldfission I agree with this theory.

Agreed... MY Doctor

3 seasons with david, 3 seasons with matt, now it is the beginning of the 3rd season with peter. And this video comes out. Telling us something?
No, it's just the 53rd anniversary.
STOP. JUST STOP.
It's an incredible exit, and one key reason why The War Games is one of my favourites.
agreed, read executed for his crimes and sent into exile!
i dont wanna go
Oh wow my two fav Doctor"s regeneration what do you want, kill me ?
"You're gonna have a great year" should have been his last words. I don't wanna go was so cheesy and the look on Tennants face sold it alone. It was even worse when they brought that line back in the 50th anniversary.
Ne Olduğu Bilinmeyen Kanal the worst Regeneration ever what a coward
but tenant really didn't want to go. tenant loved being the doctor and has been quoted saying i had to go because if i didn't they'd be wheeling me out of the tardis.
kyle hubner So when Peter Capaldi regenerates he better look straight into the camera and say "I'm a DW fan and I'm glad to have played the Doctor. Goodbye"
Love the 4th Doctor's regeneration. His parting statement is grandiose for a colossal character. Plus the synth background music on it is superb and indicative of the sounds on BBC sci-fi shows in the early 80's on kids shows & HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
1:00 "Well, here we go again." Me whenever a regeneration is announced.
Who cried when David Tennant left? Surely not just me :(

The strange thing is that Matt's ending moved me to tears and David's didn't- even though I like David way better.

I was so sad when David Tennant left Doctor Who, but then I loved so much Matt Smith, he is still one the my favourites, both David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston. They're all fantastic!!! ❤
10th Doctor is my favorite Doctor and his regeneration is still so sad and my personal favorite of The Doctor's regenerations

Vouax ... and the Curator and the Valeyard.
Did you mean curator?
Eh, does the Valeyard really count as an additional regeneration?
Zanderfist no, unless hes a future regeneration then maybe.
I didn't think it was possible for me to STILL tear up at those words. "I don't want to go.." Ugh, the goosebumps.
The Tennant - Tennant regeneration was my favourite 😂
I cried when watching Tennant's for the first time.😢

JoyStar Didn't we all?
I loved his run as the Doctor, and I was prepared to despise Matt Smith for taking over the roll. But he won me over in just a few episodes. Still, my favorite has to be the one I grew up with. Tom Baker will always be the Doctor to me :)

I liked how the transition from 10-11, which should have been his final regeneration, was so explosive, and then his first regeneration into his new regeneration cycle was so quick, like they hit a reset button on him.
"Before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic...absolutely fantastic! And you know what? So was I!"
Something about Eccleston's final lines hit me hard, especially knowing that he left because of creative rifts.
It hurts more when you come to know that Eccleston thought he didn’t do well as the Doctor. Or that’s what I heard.

Agreed, and not just because Davison is my favorite classic doctor
that was more in his mind. Like how Colin Baker in his regneration story for B.F. says "Our Future is in safe hands" even though offically in the same play is last words are "Who's There"
And in the show, his last words before regenerating are "carrot juice, carrot juice, carrot juice" xD
Well he did know that the next regeneration would be his (at that time) last one, and only lived for 6 years compared to the however many that other doctors had, so I think at that point it's less a point of "I'm so great dont make me leave" and more a case of, as he said "I could do so much more"
David Tennant's regeneration was so sad!!!!! I don't want to go!
So true I was in tears when David Tennant regenerated into Matt Smith
YES
I mean, he is THE Doctor for me and he will be forever

10th turning to 11th. It was so emotional and well written. I miss David and Matt played an excellent doctor. But David was the best of the new series.
Aserwolf I'd say peter for me
+All Things Doctor Who! Adric
Aserwolf I think 9 is
Matt is for me the Best doctor
I don't know why
No it wasn't. He was completely out of character that whole episode.
10 will always be the best doctor by far. Even watching this clip sent shivers down my spine. Over a decade after watching it on tv and being so upset
I disagree tbh
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me."
The Tenth Doctor's regeneration always hits different. It really felt like the fans emotions for David's departure were integrated into it. Meanwhile, I'll never forget how shook I was by Matt's snap change to Peter. (Don't) Blink and you'll miss it. 😅
lol dont blink best episode
Also I so wish that 11s was longer, it makes it emotional to see what the companion goes through during the whole thing and their reaction. Terrible they made it so short for such a good Doctor.
Actually 11's regeneration is the longest in all the series. The majority of it was shown while he was destroying the Daleks. The overall process was the longest but I can see why the quick transition after it all could make it seem like it was so little.
It was also the beginning of a new regeneration cycle...
That feeling when you complain about the longest and most destructive regeneration to be longer and more destructive
I still don't get the transition Tom Baker ---> Mummy ---> Doc Brown ----> Peter Davison.
Also, for the first time you can sense the actor saying goodbye to this wonderful character and universe that is truly bigger than any of them, which must be really hard, painfully so, and you can feel it in the speech and heartbreaking performance.
you literally said goodbye to the tenth doctor, not the eleventh.
1. Davison - C.Baker. Dramatic, nostalgic, and uncertain.
2. Tennant - Smith. The RTD era is ending, but the show never ends.
3. T.Baker - Davison. Simply beautiful.
4. Eccleston - Tennant. Simple, elegant, and just nice.
5. Smith - Capaldi. It's a two-parter, something different, yet still profound.
6. McGann - Hurt. 17 year wait, didn't disappoint. Big Finish FTW.
7. Pertwee - T.Baker. Another beautiful, simple one.
8. Troughton - Pertwee. Traumatic and heartbreaking.
9. C.Baker - McCoy. The Brink of Death audio saved this regeneration from the bottom spot. His future is in safe hands, indeed.
10. Hurt - Eccleston. Convenient but lovely still. Wish Eccleston had actually been there to complete the scene.
11. Hartnell - Troughton. "It's far from being all over" gives me chills every time.
12. McCoy - McGann. The Frankenstein imagery is neat (especially given the Eighth Doctor's connection to Mary Shelley) but my favorite part of this regeneration is McCoy on the operating table, insisting that "I am not like you!"
Dylan Lynch- Quinones g
True
Agree.
And looks like the similar problem is also in Capaldi-Whittaker.
Colt Gustafson ya he wants to make every single character super special, and it makes everything feel fake and overdone
Jake Bishop Yeah, that whole, pop in the TARDIS and next time you see him he said 300 years have passed while he worked on a problem.. just felt ugg to me

That's why Big Finish exists. They've been doing McGann stories since 2002, and as of the time I've written this comment they've released 3 out of their 4 planned box sets featuring John Hurt's War Doctor. I wish there was more planned for the War Doctor, though. They've been brilliant to listen to.
Whle the Big Finish performances are great, I'd still like to see more of Paul or Hurt on the screen.
Agree, the classic regenerations are given much less airtime here.
If you want context:
1) He seems unwell during the events of _The Tenth Planet_ then collapses.

Emotional moments, especially Tennent's 'I don't want to go!' But I think Matt Smith's pre-regeneration soliloquy is the best.
Sound effects people in the TV movie: How many bone crunching sounds do you want?

Great video!!! Nice to see all the regenerations in order. I like actually experiencing the connection of the Classic and New Who.
i hope when the 13th doctor regenerates into the 14th the bbc keep it a secret until the episode is aired
It would be fun
Unfortunately, we already know it’s gonna happen in 2022. We just don’t know WHO will be the new WHO show runner or Doctor yet.
@@stepforwardentertainment715 there’s rumours it’s Richard ayoade he was apparently spotted at the bbc talking to Russel t Davies I hope those rumours are true
This completely destroys every doctor who fans heart 13 times over and over again
i don't want to witness peter regenerating he's too precious protect him at all costs
9 and 10's make me cry every time :(. I don't want to go... You were great and so was I. Both quotes summarize each doctor so, so, soooo well.
The 'I dont know who I am' doctor who regenrated actually made me laugh the face he was pulling. lolol
A madman in a box . A homeless man in a junkyard . A penguin with his arse on fire .A raggedy man . A man with no name . The oncoming storm . Never cruel and never cowardly . Possibly from the north
This hero goes by many names , and many faces many say he is the hero who saves earth every week. And he is because he is the doctor and he is the hero we all most find inside ourselves
Seeing Eccleston go after 1 season always breaks my heart. and the fact we never really got to see McGann get to hit his stride as well (no i don't count the big finish dramas, half of the appeal of the doctor is his physical style and that you just don't get in an audio drama)
I bet you haven't listened to any audio dramas have you?
i have but i am a visual person. and many people don't enjoy audio dramas.
“I don’t wanna go”
The first time i watched Tennant regenerate i cried so hard that i had a migraine and couldn’t go to school the next day. God im messes up
Happy birthday, Doctor Who! Thanks for being my favorite TV show!
Ngl, Christopher Eccleston’s regeneration was so sad to me, because it was the first Doctor I ever watched, and by the time I actually liked him, he was gone😭
When 11 took off his bow tie, my heart dropped
7:11 baby face intensifies

She's doing fine. The writers on the other hand...
@@SteveNorwalt I am sure you saw how Tennant's Dr pimped for Jack Harkness by bringing him a boy to play with. Tom Baker will be the best DR. He fought the Daleks before they made. Genesis of the Dalaks.
um no,
1 the grandfather
the space hobo who is a lot more cunning than he seems
the gentleman scientist, well able to protect himself
the inhuman genius, with a willing smile and bag of jelly babies
the gentle psychopathic cricketer
very brusk
the master manipulator, do NOT let his actions fool you
8th hopeless romantic who will NOT fight
war who lost it then did fight
9th the PTSD doctor, learning to live and love again
10 the youngest and most human
11th bowties are cool
12th the circle closes a new cycle begins
13th 55 years of history flushed down the drain as the wokes take over!!!!
Waiting to see if you have both of David Tennant's regenerations from 10 to 11, and 11 to 12. Yes! Thank you for showing all of them. Can't wait to see the update of this after Xmas.
10's resistance to his regeneration is due to just pure vanity; he just really loves himself lmao
And i love him for that :)
Probably shouldn't of on watched this in college. Ended up crying
Muneeb Ahmed Me too, why do I do this to myself xD
Muneeb Ahmed shouldn't have
6:18 At that moment he teased the place he doesn’t want to go..... then in the end of the 50th anniversary........ just watch it
Happy Birthday Doctor Who
All my love to the Doctor's Fan
(sorry for my English I'm french)
Joyeux Anniversaire Doctor Who

I find the 9th & 10th Doctor's regeneration the most emotional. Probably because I grew up with those two doctors being on TV, and they were always my favourites.
The 3rd and 11th my Doctor's. I can not imagine my life without Doctor Who in it. I have other favorite shows, but I would not be complete without the Doctor.
Tom Baker will always be the " BEST" Doctor! His regeneration was truly heartfelt. Let's get some more " Classic " Who responses! 👍🏼😎🎬🎥♥️ 1963-87
Nine’s was nice in how he tried to keep Rose at ease, but having that last little bit (well earned) ego, to leave with a smile.
You didn't show David Tennent shooting the regeneration energy into the hand in the tank, that could be confusing for people who didn't know he did that, they might think you put the same clip in twice or that he regenerated twice, but other than that, great video :)
I don't wanna go... Damn it,time to cry now...
Matt's and Christopher's regeneration were the saddest for me. For that once, before the ninth doctor regenerated, he then admitted that he was fantastic too, forgiving himself. And 11th accepted it, trying to remember all those who were valued to him in that life.
