I love this house. I live a few blocks from it. I have to admit I would ride my bike by it during the construction and watch the progress. Now I am planing my own FL build and plan to use yours as inspiration. Nice job brother.
You should have gone with pre-engineer metal framing and left room on your slab for concrete block exterior. It's cheaper, stronger, and less problems.
@@BuiltByMike The entire building installed with siding and roof should have been around 50K for pre-engineered metal. that's not including insulation or exterior windows or doors or interior finishings. I assume it's under 4000 Square feet. Pre-engineered metal is by far the better choice. It eliminates all of the engineering hassles and helps keep you on budget. Not to mention it's a better structure.
Good day, Mike... I'm undertaking a similar owner builder project (cmu, skillion roof) would you be willing to share your structural details pages from your project?

Thanks. Finishing my dad's now down the street
Thinking about building in Florida, appreciated all the videos and detailed explanations that you have done, would defiantly help me in the future

It wasn't cheaper at the time. I wanted to do metal trusses and they were about 50k

You could clad that beam with zipboard to protect from elements. Overhang is still a good idea though. House looks great!
Thanks
I love your design. Wish I could build one like that here in Texas
Don't see why not.
Build it!
Is the foam board on the exterior wall 2 inches thick or 1 as well? If 1 inch thick, wouldnt that be too low of an r-value?
Its 1 inch. I believe it's like 6 r value. That's what most houses here use
Can you please post your inspections in 1st to last?
I have no idea. Every county probably has different ones anyways
Hey man, thanks for making these vids! Do you remember the vertical spacing(rebar) for the exterior walls?
I believe it was every 4 feet. I think that's engineered depending on the house. This house had alot more rebar then most I've seen.
Hello, What is the roof pitch over the garage and the left side? Thanks
3 12 both sides
If u know, how the furring strips were attached to the block wall ? Shot in ? Hammered by hand ! Drilled holes then hammered in !
With an airgun. Not sure if they are special nails or what but I was surprised.
Hello Mike. I would like to build my own home. Where do I start ?
Start drawing what you want. Tape them to a wall you pass by everyday
Did u start yet ?
9:37. I would still have it polished. Who would look down on your floor and who would care ?!?
Good day... Did this double shed roof design require interior load bearing walls OR were only the perimeter walls load bearing?
The center wall is load bearing and is poured solid.
And the back wall of the garage.
6:04. Nothing wrong with having an overhang.
curious what your cost per sq/ft is on this build...??
About 160. But my garage is almost 1000 sqft

That's all going to be home specific
Hi Sir
Are you near North Port FL?
Yes
Who did the bumpy cement floor so i dont hire them? U have to supervise while they build.
No idea one of the builders subs. I tried to be here the most I can but it's not easy.
How did you do the slant with the blocks
That part is framed and poured
Hi Mike,
I'm Robert White, and I'm building homes in North Port. How can I get a consultation with you?
I'm not a builder
Keeping a record in the engineers stupidity can be addressed through the courts later.
Probably not worth the effort
Mike Approx. How much brick/block was used in the home building
Alot. It was either 3 or 4 truck full loads
