    Heck yeah! I put a 2000 ls1 in my 1995 S10. Did a TSP 599-605 lift 233/239 duration @.050 cam, dual valve springs, titanium seats and retainers, chromoly pushrods. That and a 3600 stall converter. Just the cam and it made 382whp on the dyno. So much fun!!

    June 26 of this year will be a year since I lost my pops to cancer. Before he passed, he gave me his 02 S10 2.2 extended cab which I’ve driven every single day. I’m a Honda tech by trade so I’ve done SOOO much to this truck from mounts to leveling the rear, paint restoration, having dents pulled, Raptor bed liner, blah, blah, blah. Every single oil seal that can leak, is leaking and I’ll be damned if I’m spending all that time to r&r a 4 cyl and not build a stout v8 to take it’s place. Loved watching your build and I’m hoping to turn mine into what my pops would love to have gone for a ride in. Thanks for the content

    I just picked up a 97 2.2/4L60 with a blown head gasket for next to nothing, with no plans for it. Your approach to this project is about where I’m at with this s10 of mine. Since it has a good 4l60, I’ll follow in your footsteps. Thanks for all the good info and taking the time to put these videos together! 👍

    • @walasiewicz
      @walasiewicz ปีที่แล้ว

      Those 4L60s are complete junk. You'll be lucky if the 2-3 clutches aren't gone in it. The 2.2 is notorious for the head bolts on the exhaust side losing their stretch and clamping ability from the heat. You'll notice when you go to back the head bolts off all of the ones down the exhaust side will literally be loose already. Make sure you get a head gasket set with new head bolts as they are torque to yield

    Awesome! I've got a 2001, 2dr, 2wd Blazer with a 4.3. I've been lookin at V8 swapping. Old school sbc or LS has been the debate. After seeing this I'm leaning towards the LS. And the SS VERSION is what I've been pondering as far as tagging it possibly turbo.

  • @v.e.7236
    @v.e.7236 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the first "lessons" I learned about open diffs is they will leave you stranded if you get into soft sand. For instance, I pulled over for a moment to check my directions and can't get traction to get back on the road, because the open diff sends power w/ the least traction. Not sure why this done/engineered this way, but a LSD diff makes life so much less hassle free and helps lay down the power like posi diffs when doing the straight line boggie. Best single upgrade I made to my 2WD S10 Blazer. Maybe someday I'll have enough money to accomplish an LS swap into my lil' truck. The engines are relatively inexpensive, but all of the little things can and do add up quickly. I've priced all of the extras I'd need and it adds up to $1500-$2000.

    I had an 89 s10 that we put a junkyard 400 in. Put a mini spool in the rear and had a 150 shot of nitrous. Broke the rear on the first launch at Summerduck dragway in Summerduck, Va. I put it on the trailer and took it home. Put it in the field and that's where it sat. My dad sold the property about 5 years ago. I assume it's still there. Last time I was out in the field was about 10 years ago and it was completely covered with weeds and vines.

Just look up the options that separate the regular s10 from a ZR2. It maybe an option for you but it's a good bit wider that the rear you have now. The zr2 is a beast of an S10. Love it! I now have a 1998 short bed standard cab 5 speed S10 and the stock 5.3 out of my 2003 Silverado.... WooHoo gettin' fired up! How much does it weigh now?

    • @travispeoples
      @travispeoples 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MuletownSpeedandDyno Yup... T56 is the plan and I was concerned about adding the weight to the front... so I was considering an all aluminum L33... my 98 S10 came with ZQ8 suspension from the factory which seems very odd for a base model to me and it sits really low... I was expecting to need to change the front springs out... we'll see... for now I plan on using the 2003 5.3 from my Silverado... she's got 291000 miles, ran perfect but developed an antifreeze sipping habit so I used that as a reason to swap it out for an LQ9 6.0!

    I just got same gen sonoma 4 banger I'm gonna do this to, cannot wait!!! Thank you for excellent video quality and info, I don't know if this was covered but did you use factory 4 banger driveshaft or did you have to get a custom one made? I would think 4 banger 60e would be same length and splines but not sure if 80e's were anything different or if you had to use slip yoke off the donor 80e truck? Sorry if silly question.

    • @MuletownSpeedandDyno
      @MuletownSpeedandDyno  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and its not a silly question. I used the stock 4cyl driveshaft and swapped out the slip yoke for a 4l80e yoke. Since the 4l80e is longer I had the DS shortened an inch or so.
