Everyone is so critical of the money spent, of Alexandra's ideas, etc. And aIl I'll say is (1) She added legit an armchair, desk chair, solid shelf, new lighting, and and new bedding to the space; and (2) She built and designed things in a really cute way that tons of people just don't know how to do. There's a reason it looks easy, and it's because she makes the process look easy. This process is worth it.
Don't you love it when you go shopping in your own home and by just swapping this for that and that for this it looks and feels like you spent a fortune. Thanks for making it look so good and easy to do.
What’s so great about this room makeover is that Stacey already had most of the stuff and all she needed was a bit of a few more statement pieces that pull the rooms together
New rugs, bedding, artwork, chair, tools, shelving, sconces, labour (not charged). It adds up. And it's a reflection of Canadian pricing. Which is more expensive - not everything on the internet is based on American economy. Everyones suddenly a CPA. The gag of it all.
I love the changes without actually having to go out and buy all new furniture, most people can’t afford that immediately but still want to improve their space. I think the only thing I would have done differently was put the small round table next to the bed as a nightstand and the laptop stand (I know it’s called that because I have it) next to the desk for more space. It’s just more office-y.
Lots of great ideas in this makeover - thanks for sharing. I agree w/other comments that this looks a lot like Alexandra making over someone else's space in her (oft-repeated) style, but I don't think that's because it's all she can do. I think it's because the homeowner was attracted to Alexandra's style & wanted her makeover to have elements of A's style - the pink & gold touches in mostly white room, lots of natural textures (wood shelf, basket, etc.) It's beautiful.
I love this! I feel like Stacey was excited BEFORE she opened her eyes! Initially I wasn't sure about the pastels, woods, mixed metals and black & white action happening...but of COURSE I should have never doubted you, Alex! So lovely.
Hey Alexandra! Great project love the transformation! Here's a great tip for you regarding your power cords on lamps and pendants etc. Out of the box they are always kinky, which looks "unfinished". To combat this, take a hair dryer on a hot heat setting and "blow dry the cord once it's hung. This will heat up the material just enough to soften all the kinks and straighten the cord. If you are brave (and careful) enough to handle a heat gun, this works especially well. Hope this helps! L
I loved this! You did a fantastic job. So happy she loved it. Just a few thoughts - with the extra $, I might have changed out/altered the trim on the windows, and doors/baseboards if possible. Wide trim always feels luxurious and cozy. It can be put up with liquid nails or caulk if necessary or you can use small pieces of carpet tape or removable glue dots. A ledge on the window-sill is also cozy and can be put up with shelf brackets. If the existing trims can’t be removed from doors, etc., small decorative strips can be added. It won’t add as much width as a wider board would, but will still add a little extra to the room. Baseboards added in front of existing ones create a channel in which cords/ light-strips can live. Make a frame for the outlet behind the desk out of shims, for pennies. Again, add a bit of trim (dollhouse trim or jewels from hobby lobby) for an unexpected touch. I’ve also painted plastic covers with a design, then hot-glued painted wood balls at the top and bottom, hanging miniature tassels from the bottom balls. Now I’m off to binge-watch the rest of your channel. Regards, Linda
Hi Alexandra!! I’ve been binge watching all of your videos the last couple of days. You inspired me to go to IKEA and try to redo my room last night! I walked around for a few hours and found myself saying “What would Alexandra do?” 😂 😂 I came out of IKEA with just 2 pillow cases and a seat cushion, all 3 of which doesn’t go well with my room. It’s so hard but you make it seem so easy! 🥰 I need professional help trying to juggle my bedroom, crafts space, vocal recording studio, etc. all which needs to fit in a teeny tiny room. I’m tired of tripping over things and moving 5 things to get 1 thing done. HEEEELP!!!! Hahaha.
what's the problem with negativity if it constructive criticism? Most of these people aren't being vindictive and I don't see any death threats. She got so much hate for no reason... I think she called It off... Makes me Sad, cause I love her style... If you don't like her style and prefer other yt... Leave and let her do her job for the ones that like it
I think the overall look is so cute! I know $400 sounds like a lot (me too) but when you are doing a complete look, it's really not bad. I spent $80 doing a DIY on my coffee table recently and that is ONE piece. If I were redoing the entire room, imagine. That's my opinion. Also, I think the layering rug idea is genius. Rugs are hella expensive. May have to try this.
I'm so happy I found this channel. Your vids are so so happy and uplifting. I can't find any other vids of this apartment though. Did you post any more?
I hope she learns a different style since she always seems to makeover another person's space in her own style. Same pompoms, same textures, same pink colors. I'm not hating but I've watched a lot of home makeovers and most of them have different takes on spaces since they adjust to the client/owner's taste. I mean, your style is great but it doesn't mean it is the only thing that is great.
I think if she's doing a friend's makeover and the friend likes her style enough to ask her to do the whole apartment, why change what's already perfect? But whatever, everyone has opinion...
@@OhitsJewel She recently did a video, like a few days ago, where she did something much darker and broodier for another friend of her's. Gives me hope!

AnnIkea hack is buying an ikea set, such as a bed, then repurposing it or changing the design of it, such like making a loft bed a secret hideout by adding wood to the sides, so no, it’s not and IKEA hack.

With a budget this small there isn't much that can be done so the way is to repurpose what she already had and make little tweaks here and there. Small details make a huge difference.
I was wondering about pendant lights, could the electrical cords be wrapped in let's say a hockey tape? If the electrical cord was the same color as the ceiling for example, it would be less noticeable. Or maybe, it could be covered with the type of covering that can be used on wall sconces electrical cords? Alternatively, the electrical cord could be painted? As for placing a carpet over another, it is a nice idea but could be a tripping hazard. I suggest using ways to secure the carpets to the floor with some type of adhesive to keep them stable.
