I can't tell if you're being tongue-in-cheek hilarious or genuinely trying to spin things nauseatingly positive. I appreciate your ability to straddle the tightrope like a high wire trapeze artist.
haha. I get the sense that JH is a fundamentally nice person. Combined with British politeness and a fairly large vocabulary, he is able to throw some shade without being mean.
I mean, that's the British way. Only an Englishman can talk only by the tone of his voice rather than the words he speaks. Jeremy Clarkson and Rowan Atkinson are both masters of that. JH ain't far behind.
Hi Justin - just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your ceaseless optimism and positivity. There are so many people out there jumping out constant negativity it's so nice to listen to someone who always seems to have kind words for others.
I really appreciate how you don't fall into the trap of degrading someone else's performance when they are not on the top of their game. That's really a class act Justin. Thank you for being kind to everyone.
Many of us have seen these clips reviewed and criticized in other ways. It's refreshing to see another artists kind perspective instead of simply mocking them. Thank you for adding some class to your videos Justin.
“I look like Frank Spencer but sound like Roger Moore” is one of the funniest lines I’ve heard this year. I went from straight faxed to snort laugh in no seconds. Love it.
One of the best solo screwups is Kurt Cobain's solo on Man Who Sold the World on the unplugged album. One note, he is either too sharp or flat, then catches it and moves it into the right spot. I actually like it better this way. He was smooth enough in the correction that it seemed intentional
He was definitely afraid to screw that song up, you can actually hear him say that right before the song starts. He wanted the Unplugged to be recorded completely in one take, and it's the ONLY ONE of all the MTV Unplugged in NY series.
I really admire that you didn't come out straight dogging any musicians at any level. That's just something as a musician me and my people never do, no matter how bad someone is..
I played live yesterday (just a tiny show) and played a sour kick, walked up to mic said “sorry wrong key” and went back into it in next measure … got more love from that than the bits I nailed
the fred durst bit.. must be going on 20 years old now. it was a drop C tuned 6 string guitar, and it shouldnt need, but apparently needs to be said, that fred is not a guitar player; he literally only knows what he knows from watching actual guitarists play with him. this 'solo' followed 20 seconds of a 3 string melody with lyrics. he was not attempting to be taken seriously at any point there. i am actually amazed that his brief little piece of entertaining himself is still being talked about to this day. incredible.
"The wrong note played with enough confidence is actually the correct note" That right there is true as hell, it goes for any insturment, even singing. Don't get frozen by mistakes and continue.
Not often that I snort laughing out loud when I watch TH-cam videos but I seem to do so often with yours. You're very entertaining and seem to be a genuinely amazing person.
Appreciate your spirit and respect reviewing these. Being ready to fly at the jumping off the cliff part of starting up a solo, and then knowing to keep hitting notes (and maybe bending or sliding them into the right ones) and faking it until you make it vs going silent helps to hear from someone of your talents and experience. Cheers!
I remember when Wayne did a song on MTV awards. Came out with a guitar, I thought, oh he spent the time to learn some chops! Nope, he was strumming along to a back track and not even close. His guitar was not plugged into anything. Not a wireless or amp, or anything. At least now he’s trying, lol
One of my friends always hits the semitone below where he's supposed to be then slides into place. At this point it's like an unintentional signature move, the bum note draws attention and everyone is focused on the lead.
I know an excellent local guitarist who very occasionally hits a wrong note - when he does, he repeats the phrase and somehow manages to incorporate it in a musically meaningful manner - it's a pretty awesome ability and attitude.
I always liked the darkness. But after subbing to justin's channel and seeing what a gentleman he is, the stock just goes higher. How can you not like this guy or his music?
A good example of playing a wrong note with confidence and having it work is Kurt Cobain’s solo in “The Man Who Sold the World”. He slid one fret too far to start the solo and did a clever little slide back to the correct note, but it worked in the song.
You're talking about the 1st solo, right? I thought it sounded OK. Different from the record, but still cool. He burned it to the ground on the 2nd solo, though!
When the word extraneous is used, you know that you're listening to someone who operates on a higher level. From this day forward I shall defend the word of Justin as if he were kin, with a bow of burning gold and arrows of desire.
It really is the worst feeling when something you can play in your sleep suddenly goes out of your head when you’re playing in front of people. I still have regularflashbacks to a botched piano recital in high school, and I’m 40 years old now!
I can't believe Bumblefoot is on this. Ron was my first guitar teacher and also one of my last. I worked in a music store with him and I've seen him perform countless times and never heard him play a sour note.

Hi Justin. Can you do a video looking at artists attacking their fans at gigs. Been some wild ones over the years. Afroman springs to mind. I'm sure Axl Rose has leapt into a crowd or 10 swinging. Surely many others. Love the channel mate.
The message at 5:25 regarding 'wrong notes played with enough confidence is actually the correct note' is very true- see Kurt Cobain performing the solo to the man who sold the world th-cam.com/video/fregObNcHC8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NirvanaVEVO (around 2:45). He slides up and hits the notes both below and above before reaching the 'right' note, similar to Nick Jonas, but maintains his poise and focus, meaning the 'mistake' feels like an organic part of the performance.
You have to admire Justin here he could really light into these players who screwed up live performances. I think he is correct though just keep playing and if you get the rest right you will be alright but if you butcher the whole song then you are in trouble. Everyone makes mistakes just do your best and move forward.
@@Ukraineaissance2014 you are probably right George unless it is a major song or solo like stairway to heaven, eruption, sweet child of mine and on and on. Even then the fans are so happy to see there favorite songs play 1 error doesn't ruin the show for them
The Lars riff is a cover of "Am I Evil?" by Diamond Head, they used to do a thing where they'd all swap instruments for it. The point stands though, he needs to stay behind the drumkit, and preferably with a click-track.
I think you will appreciate the talent of the musicians in this somewhat little known band - VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY. you should take a listen, they have a live show in Athens Greece in TH-cam that is amazing. Proper talent with a wide range of instruments. Some of my favorite songs are Father Sun and Age of Aquarius.
What made the Lil Wayne one so funny imo was u could hear a lady in the front row saying omg he is so talented lmfao apparently she has never heard a guitar before....
I always kinda felt the same about the Lil Wayne clip. He's having fun, loving it, doing what he can in something he's interested in. Whatever. It's not like he's a "guitar player" like Nick Jonas. He's a rapper bringing out the guitar to mix it up and pump up the crowd and I'm sure it worked.
That madonna thing. lol without watching it again it sounds like It's coming from the House sound and not the amp. Plus it is a controlled repeated slide. ASHLEE SIMPSON!! or what ever her name was.
I'm on tour in USA with The Darkness right now until the end of April - you can get tickets to see us live here: www.thedarknesslive.com/tour-dates/
Cool, I bet it’s going well. Wonderful country, sounds like a good way to live your life.

The darkness is the greatest rock band ever!!!
You're the nicest dude in rock n roll. Love it.
This will probably go unnoticed but I think Living Each Day Blind and With A Woman should be in the setlist.
i haven't stopped laughing at "he's got those hands where you pick up the guitar and it immediately sounds out of tune"
