Think you meant Odin’s son. Thor is the god of thunder and the son of Odin. Thor’s son is one of the gods that survives ragnarok and will rebuild the world again.
Best Kratos quotes of each game: GOW: The God’s Of Olympus have abandoned me, now there is no hope. GOW Chains Of Olympus: I do not need the aid of The God’s! But my path is now clear to me. I will serve them and they will keep their promise to free me from my past! GOW2: Zeus! Your son has returned! I bring the destruction, of Olympus! GOW3: I have lived, as a warrior. I have died as a God. Having suffered the ultimate sacrifice. I have been denied release. I-I will defeat Olympus! I will have my revenge! GOW Ghost Of Sparta: By The God’s, what have I become? GOW: The cycle ends here, we must be better than this.
@@GrubKiller436 True, but what difference would it really have made? "I am sorry my daughter, I must go save the world" *Kratos proceeds to snap the necks of like three random elysium spirits to get back those sweet red orbs* Besides he *is* a spartan, probably not much he can think to say to console her.
I’ve heard something similar before in a very obscure, not well known and very bizarre animated Japanese series. You probably have never heard of it before now, but it is called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The part I’m speaking of specifically is the fourth part, known as “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable”. The instance I am describing is one in which the main character (josuke higashikata) is attempting to fight one of the stronger enemies on the spectrum, known as Rohan Kishibe. Fun fact: this enemy ends up becoming an ally and has his own spinoff series. As I was saying, this man has the ability to write commands inside people (like a book) and they *must* do that exact thing. However, upon attempting to activate the ability (which at the time requires one to view a piece of paper), realizes that upon insulting josuke’s hair (which is found to throw him into a literal blind rage), he fails to be influenced by the manuscript. However, despite this realization, Rohan is incapable of responding accordingly, as Josuke is too fast. Rohan is nearly killed and josuke’s friends are saved. *This is a joke, Jojo is obviously very well known for being referenced constantly
sure it wouldve been nice to forget the part where he slaughtered his own family but there was few things the furies shouldnt have done, one was torturing him because that would mean that they are enemies to him and second keep telling him over and over to serve ares. from the moment they told him to serve ares he knew that there was something fishy about them and when they tried to manipulate him as being his wife, he knew that was not his reality. manipulation and torture wasnt the perfect fit for kratos and instead was the perfect fit for their deaths. the part that the main sister really fucked up was when she said for him to offer himself completely then he will "live in a blissful illusion"
in my opinion, the gods should have gave him his family back like come on, HE SERVED THEM FOR 10 YEARS. i think that all the gods (except athena) and titans wanted to manipulate him because of his strength and ambition
Also another thing: throughout The God of War games they said that Zeus is the King of Olympus but then after Athena says that Zeus is Olympus everyone else does too. What? Did for some reason they knew that Athena told him so they called him Olympus too? Or is he not Olympus?
I never understood that. Like the dude that has literally famous for killing a god is standing in front of you. Just ask him to stab you and be done with it.
@@Mrmaverickism Yes, but remember GOW 1 was supposed to be a one-time thing, You can tell GOW writing is wonky but is still very well told so is easy to miss details like that, that's probably the greatest achievement of the franchise but we still love it, but Damn Ghost Sparta retcons are just too much for my liking.
I like the addition of Kratos having a beard in GOW4. Not only does it show that he’s been hiding for years. But it’s also a nice detail because it shows how much him and his brother really look alike.
@@theonewhoismany8072 after killing ares, someone had to take the place of the god, otherwise things would crumble, like when poseidon died and the city sank. There was no replacement for the God of war, so Kratos was still the God of war without being a God, so even if poseidon is dead, he still is the God of sea, Kratos replaced ares cause he basically deserved the title.
My thinking on that is if he went back in time to when he lost his family the sisters of fate and the gods would realize kratos is an enormous threat and in the process of facing him would kill his family

Hephaestus is really just a victim in all of this. He just wanted to protect his daughter and was constantly brutally punished for trying to do that. First by Zeus and then Kratos.
I often just feel sorry for Kratos. He basically just wants what we all want to live a peaceful life with our loved once (wife/husband and children and maby even a dog or cat) but it is always taken from him by the gods. After all that happened to him I can understand that his moral compass is a bit broken sometimes. I like how he changes in the new game he tries to be a good father and not the monster he once was and I wish for him that he succeedes at that task
Most stories of revenge aren't that deep. It doesn't mean they're not great stories though. BTW, before 2018, the God of War games were mediocre to average at best. Using quick time events in modern gameplay is the lowest form of gameplay. Thankfully the new God of War stopped with that bullshit. Now the series can be considered nearly as good as the SONY fanboys have always made it out to be. And the axe is better than the blades.
@@Homer___Simpson, I played GOW1 when it came out. It was good. I played GOW2 when it came out, and it was better. I played GOW3 on PS4 though a few months ago when it was free on PSPlus, and I thought it wasn't that good at all. Quick time events get old fast, like having to rotate the analog stick to kill a medusa each time you fight one. That's called lame game design. The second time I played through it, I had that item that auto-finished all the QTE for you, so it was less annoying. And while the combat was good in those games, it still wasn't as good as something like Bayonetta because QTEs take much of the freedom and fluidity out of the fight, and pressing buttons when the game tells you to press a button isn't my idea of good game design....you might as well play a rhythm game if you like it that much. There were some decent puzzles in the second game I guess, but compared to a game like Zelda, it doesn't compete. The huge boss battles were cool though, but mainly because they were huge bosses. In short, from my experience, having actually played the games as well as many more games, GOW1, GOW2, and GOW3 are some of the most overrated games in the history of gaming. The new GOW is not overrated though. It could only be improved with more bosses and a bigger map.

Fun fact: Shovel Knight is canon in the God of War universe. Edit: some context: Kratos appears as a secret boss in the PlayStation versions of Shovel Knight. According to statements made by Cory Barlog, his appearance in Shovel Knight takes place somewhere between God of War 3 and 4, on his trip from Greece to Scandinavia.
@@xx_ninja_xx1428 “according to God of War director Cory Barlog, Kratos’s appearance in Shovel Knight is considered canon in the God of War lore. If you think about it, Kratos whole reason for seeking Power was to never be as helpless as the night he lost his only brother, and in his pursuit to get stronger and never suffer like this again he destroyed the ones he loved the most. truly a greek tragedy
Being a big GOW fan this was awesome! Watched every minute even though I've seen just about every scene in this video, nicely put together, btw! Good job.
The hardest part in these games, was not to finally get your revenge, fight dozens of inhuman mighty monster or be betrayed again and again ... it was to push Kratos little daughter away, which just wanted her daddy back. He finally had his family and again he throwed it away, this time to save them. Heavy scene. P.S: They could have added his damn wife too in Elysium. After all they died together T.T
I love how sometime kratos hates every living being but when he sees hes daughter he will sacrifice everything EVEN HES LIFE just to save her kratos can be the enbodiment of hatred and sometime the enbodiment of love
This is the translation when Athena spoke to Kratos on the boat: "You have to make one last task for us, Kratos. The biggest challenge is in Athens. City that right now place my brother, Ares. While we speak, Athens is on the verge of destruction. It is Ares' will that my great city falls. Zeus has forbidden the gods to fight with each other. For that reason, you have to be you, Kratos. Only a mortal trained by a god has any chance of defeating Ares."
It would be wayyy to hard to consolidate everything Kratos has done/went thru in just one movie it would have to be either a show with multiple seasons or a series of movies
Just like Cronos eating the gods in fear of their rebellion led exactly to that. The mythos is full of cyclicism, which makes me wonder if in GoW4, Kratos killing whatever gods are in there in order to protect his son will end up in him himself getting killed
I finally understand the story, I only understood bits and parts of the story as I completed the last story of God of War 3 but watching this.......this completed my whole memory of how and why kratos wanted vengeance and how and why his family was murdered in his own hands by accident as it was due to Ares.....Thank you...thank you for posting the whole story so I and everyone else could finally understand now.
And to think, if Zeus had been a better god, a better father, and had actually BEEN there for Kratos (and Diemos, and Kratos's mother), all of that death, destruction and tragedy could have been avoided. But the gods of Olympus just had to be petty, arrogant, prideful, and had to have delusions of grandeur so great that it cost them, and the realm of Greece, everything.
Not that hard to understand...Ares tricks him into killing his family cuz "it'll make you a better warrior", kratos gets revenge and becomes the new GoW, he's kind of too good at his new job so Zeus stomps Kratos, kratos get's revenge again. Zeus is the hero of the story for trying to stop a murderous tyrant from killing everything that breathes and ultimately fails.
Playing the original games chronologically from Ascension to GoW3, works really well and is such an amazing saga. Now with the new game, it feels like Kratos has a rebirth, and is the next stage of his journey. If the orginal series was Kratos' angry teenage phase, then God of War Norse is Kratos finally becoming a man.
Not so much I think. He still has the pain and regrets of his life and those painful memories made him wiser as he got more old but at least he learned to control his rage. He learned to not act with his emotions because he found out the problem was his interactions with people because of his rage. Therefore, Kratos started to think before his acts after he left the destroyed Greece country and started a new life as a man. It made him wiser.
I am happy for him too. While he was in Greece, he lost almost everything he had. His wife, his daughter, his brother, his mother, the place where he was born which is Sparta, all gone. Now in his life, Atreus gives him a new meaning for his future. And definitely, he didn't go to Russia. Norse Mythology is a religion of Vikings which is in north. Kratos is now in Norway.
1:57:30 this dialogue is interesting. One of the themes in the games is going back to killing their father's. So that just makes the new 2018 game more interesting to me: a game completely about fatherhood. It feels kind of like a way of kratos trying to have redemption of that fate. To avoid hating their father to the point of killing them over and over again. So kratos trys to move on and be a good dad for his son.

Best Kratos quotes of each game:
GOW: The God’s Of Olympus have abandoned me, now there is no hope.
GOW: The cycle ends here, we must be better than this.
my personal favorite is "If all of Olympus will deny me my vengeance, then all of Olympus will die."
And GOW4: B O Y
Gow: BOI.
"this path you walk, vengeance, you will find no peace in it, i know"
Also in GOW : I still have allies in Olympus Ares , now you will know how strong I really am
Out of every gory thing I've seen in this series, Kratos leaving Calliope was the hardest thing to watch. The man knew he fucked up.
I starting cry and mad as fuck in that scene

@@GrubKiller436 True, but what difference would it really have made? "I am sorry my daughter, I must go save the world" *Kratos proceeds to snap the necks of like three random elysium spirits to get back those sweet red orbs*

35:31 Kratos is so blinded by rage, he can look straight into the sun.
Man LITERALLY too angry to be blinded

ALL OF YALL HAD ONE JOB.........................ERASE THE DUDES MEMORY
The furies tried. LOOK WHAT HAPPENEND TO THEM!
sure it wouldve been nice to forget the part where he slaughtered his own family but there was few things the furies shouldnt have done, one was torturing him because that would mean that they are enemies to him and second keep telling him over and over to serve ares. from the moment they told him to serve ares he knew that there was something fishy about them and when they tried to manipulate him as being his wife, he knew that was not his reality. manipulation and torture wasnt the perfect fit for kratos and instead was the perfect fit for their deaths. the part that the main sister really fucked up was when she said for him to offer himself completely then he will "live in a blissful illusion"

Game "journalist" in 2018: "Kratos was never deep before God of War 2018!"
This video: "Hold my blades of chaos."

Yeah.....so you obviously haven't played any of the games besides 2018 so please go away.

This is the translation when Athena spoke to Kratos on the boat:
"You have to make one last task for us, Kratos.

TimelessOne123 I totally agree with you man...they were selfish and arrogant...Kratos did not deserve to have a harsh childhood

Erhan Solhan yeh but hes okay now
Not so much I think.
Erhan Solhan at least he has someone to care about again that makes me happy
